NEW DELHI, March 10 (Reuters) - Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party is set to keep control of India's most populous state with a big majority, according to the count on Thursday of a state assembly vote that could offer clues to the national mood before a 2024 general election.

The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) coalition was leading in about 250 of the 403 seats in Uttar Pradesh, news channels reported citing counting data, while the Election Commission said the party was ahead in enough seats to hold onto power.

COEUR d’ALENE — The Kootenai County Republican Central Committee has reportedly planned and recruited volunteers to infiltrate the Kootenai Democrats, install an “antisemitic troll” as party chair and funnel money donated to Democrats to local Republicans instead.

https://cdapress.com/news/2022/mar/10/elephants-room/

A recorded phone call between Kootenai County resident John Grimm and a person he identified as KCRCC Youth Chair Dan Bell appeared to reveal the plan.

Long story short, we want to take over the Democrat Party,” Bell reportedly said during the Tuesday call.

In Idaho, recording telephone conversations is allowed with the consent of at least one party to the conversation.

And Impeachment

Biden warns Democrats it will be a 'sad two years' if Republicans take control of Congress

President Biden issued a warning to his party about the possibility of Republicans taking control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections during remarks to Democratic National Committee members on Thursday evening.

He encouraged Democrats to use the same work ethic, enthusiasm and energy they had in the 2020 election as they seek to keep control of the House and Senate, and to add seats.

Ohio Supreme Court Again Rejects Republicans’ State Legislative Maps.

https://www.cleveland.com/news/2022/02/ ... -maps.html.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Supreme Court once again has struck down new state legislative maps as unconstitutionally slanted toward Republicans under Ohio’s new anti-gerrymandering rules.

In a ruling Monday evening, the court gave the Ohio Redistricting Commission until Feb. 17 to draw new Ohio House and Senate maps. Once again, retiring Republican Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor joined the court’s three Democrats in rejecting the latest set of maps, approved by redistricting commission Republicans on Jan. 22.

Leftists in Colombia get 400,000 more Senate votes after objection

The leftist Historical Pact coalition increased its votes in Sunday's Senate elections in Colombia by nearly 400,000 following a scrutiny after alleging fraud in the counting.

The coalition led by Gustavo Petro had objected to the results, arguing that thousands of their votes were not entered into the system deliberately.

Disqualified: CBS46 Investigation Exposed Felon Trying To Run For Office.

https://www.cbs46.com/2022/03/16/former ... stigation/.

ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) - Qualifying to run for public office in Georgia requires candidates to sign a declaration of candidacy and affidavit. That piece of paper has been the focus of an ongoing CBS46 investigation that has now exposed two convicted felons who attempted to run for office in the state.

61-year-old Chester Doles is a former leader of the Ku Klux Klan. He also spent time in federal prison for gun charges and before that, beating a black man in Maryland.

Doles filed his affidavit on March 8 to qualify to run for Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners District 3. CBS46 received the signed document from the county when they confirmed that he qualified.

But, after CBS46 started asking questions of local and state elections officials, Doles was disqualified. The Georgia Republican Party confirmed they started looking into it after we brought it to their attention.

So why was he disqualified? According to Georgia code, written out on the declaration of candidacy and affidavit, felons can hold elected office in Georgia if they get their civil rights restored and if at least 10 years have passed from the time they completed their last prison sentence.

Newly revealed court documents show that Trump-loving Missouri Senate candidate Eric Greitens has been accused of physically abusing both his ex-wife and their children.

https://www.rawstory.com/eric-greitens-2657003841/.

Sheena Greitens leveled horrific allegations against her ex-husband in new court documents related to the couple's custody battle over their two children.

"In early June 2018, I became afraid for my safety and that of our children at our home, which was fairly isolated, due to Eric’s unstable and coercive behavior,” Sheena Greitens alleged in the filing. “This behavior included physical violence toward our children, such as cuffing our then three-year-old son across the face at the dinner table in front of me and yanking him around by the hair.”

Brian Cunningham wins Assembly special election in Brooklyn

Brian Cunningham won the special election for Assembly District 43 in Central Brooklyn on Tuesday night, notching a win for the Brooklyn Democratic Party against a group of progressive reformers who have been harshly critical of party boss Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn’s leadership.

Cunningham led Jelanie DeShong, the Working Families Party nominee, 62% to 35%, with approximately 3,000 votes counted on election night. The Republican Party and Conservative Party nominee, Mesidor Azor, earned just 3%. The result will hold according to a spokesperson from the New York City Board of Elections, because even though 1,141 absentee ballots had been mailed, just 168 had been returned as of Monday night.

DNC officials circulate plan that would change presidential primary calendar and threaten Iowa's first-in-the-nation status

(CNN) Democratic Party officials charged with setting the party's 2024 presidential nominating process are circulating a draft plan that would place up to five states at the front of the calendar and would prioritize diverse battleground states that hold primaries, not caucuses.

That would effectively end Iowa's status as the first state to vote, since Iowa is no longer considered competitive and is required by current state law to hold caucuses.

Since their appointments didn't require Senate confirmation, Oz and Walker running for the Senate in their states would be a violation of the Hatch Act so Biden demanding they resign or be fired isn't unreasonable.

I agree with that point, but it's more important that he be removed from that position because he's a quack.

And again, I point to a long history of hawking snake oil on his TV show, long before he became a COVID denialist.

I've always been leery of "celebrity" endorsement of products, especially by doctors. I've seen his endorsed products in stores and and on TV and I've avoid them because they're mainly junk. His name and endorsement for a product can be bought for a price and that's a sure sign to avoid those products.

He's no higher than on the lowest ladder rung of scum than that of the TV prechers.

MTG Claims Removing Her From Ballot Would "Destroy Democracy".

https://www.rawstory.com/marjorie-taylo ... t-lawsuit/.

ep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) lashed out at "evil" Democrats in an angry rant about attempts to remove her from the ballot for participating in an "insurrection" on Jan. 6.

During an interview with conservative host Jeremy Herrell, Greene referred to a lawsuit that aims to take her name off the ballot because she “voluntarily aided and engaged in an insurrection” on Jan. 6.

"I need people's support," Greene explained. "They're coming after me. They just filed a lawsuit against me last week to try to actually remove my name off the ballot! You talk about destroying democracy, these Democrats, they are seriously trying to destroy democracy by filing a lawsuit to remove my name off the ballot and taking away my district's ability to vote for me again."

California bill would allow election workers to keep their home addresses a secret.
Elections in the U.S. have become so polarizing that California is considering treating poll workers with the same caution as domestic violence victims by letting them keep their addresses hidden from public records.

The California Legislature on Monday advanced a bill that would add some election workers to the state's “Safe at Home" program that's lets some people to keep their physical addresses secret. The program was originally designed to protect domestic violence victims, but has since been expanded to include people who work at abortion clinics and their patients.

The bill, which cleared a legislative committee in the California Assembly on Monday, would let some election workers and their immediate family members apply to the secretary of state to use a substitute address in the voter file instead of their home address. The bill would apply to election workers who either interact with the public or are observed by the public, including poll workers and ballot counters.

I support this bill because the number of crazies from the republican party and the followers of TFG have targeted election workers for intimidation and made threats against election workers because their candidate didn't win. It's not the election workers' fault TFG lost but TFG's fault.
