Democratic strategist Donna Brazile clashed with former Republican Gov. Chris Christie on Sunday after he claimed that his wife pays $29 for toilet paper.

Christie made the claim during a panel discussion about President Joe Biden's agenda on ABC's This Week.

"Let me give you an example of what normal people really care about," Christie opined. "I mean, first, they go to the gas station and as much as the Biden administration is against fossil fuels, until further notice we're going to be using them ... So they go to the gas station and the prices are way too high."

"I will tell you something," he continued. "My wife just told me three days ago she walked into the supermarket and she picked up a big pack of toilet paper and she said to me, 'Do you know how much this cost me today? $29. $29!"

I buy monster packs like that at Costco. They're so big they don't fit in the trunk of my car. I have to haul them in the back seat and they take up the whole back seat.

I did some checking at the Costco and Sam's Club websites and you can buy toilet paper from both for $29. The thing is these are bulk sales of 48 rolls to the package. I doubt most families would need to buy that many rolls at one time and that package is more likely being bought by businesses.

A 30 pack of Kirkland costs $16.00 at our Costco. It's still a limit of one and does run out on occasion. My wife thinks it's a two part problem of shipping and and still a bit of hoarding going on.
They've never really run out of Charmin. $24.00 for a 30 pack here.

Good point. I mean, I live in a small apartment with little storage space. Who even has room for Costco-sized packages?

Let’s be clear about how dishonest BDD is. I just looked at my local Kroger. They don’t have 30 roll packages at the store. A 24 roll of Charmin is 10 bucks. BUT if you want some SHIPPED to you, it’s $32 for a 30-roll pack. Why? Because it costs a load of money to ship something that big.

But Cruz didn’t say she had some shipped. He said she bought it at the store.

He lied, and so is BDD. He will defend anything that a Republican says.

But here’s the point I was making in the original post: People like the Cruzes don’t GO to the grocery store, their servants do. And if they did, they wouldn’t go to Target. They’d go to specialty grocery stores where they DO jack up the prices on everything. I used to go to a store in Texas called Central Market, where I would get meat and fish for the BBQ. I paid a big price for excellent products, but they had regular stuff like canned goods too, and their prices were twice what I could get at Kroger, so I never bought any of that stuff.

Donna B’s point was that if she was paying that, she was getting ripped off, because that’s NOT what regular Americans pay for toilet paper.

But dumbass BDD is trying to gaslight us and tell us that IS what Americans are paying. And he’s lying.
