Mcclatchy ran this today. Mcclatchy is a good source, too good, by the time they've dotted the I's and crossed the T's of professional journalism requires those other less reputable sources scoops have gone stale.

President Kamala Harris? She’s making the first moves.

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/politic ... 09374.html

:D

I'm sure glad that's over. That chore of picking my candidate for President every four to eight years is so stressful. Going to be nice to just kick back and have it all sorted out for a change.

Sen. Kamala Harris on Idaho congressman's healthcare claim: 'What the ... is that?'

http://www.latimes.com/politics/essenti ... story.html

"Like this guy, this congressman, you might as well say, ‘People don't starve because they don't have food.' What the ... is that? What are you saying? How can you say that?" Harris said during an interview with Pod Save America, a podcast run by former Obama administration staffers. It was recorded live in front of an audience of more than 2,000 people in San Francisco, according to her staff.

You can listen to that recording here >> advance it to 42:35.

She says "medicare for all." 8-)

I'm glad you like her Roy.

Today she's got the Republican's howling.

I saw this "Washington Post Gives Kamala Harris Four Pinocchios for False Claim on GOP Health Care Bill"

That's a Washington Free Beacon headline. Glenn Kesser actually did give her four.

http://freebeacon.com/issues/washington ... are-claim/

It was perhaps bias of him. He said right in his report:

So where did Harris get the 129 million figure?

"The senator was relying on a somewhat dated 2011 estimate from the Department of Health and Human Services. That report said that 50 million to 129 million (19 to 50 percent of) non-elderly Americans have some type of preexisting health condition."

"Just before the Obama administration left office, HHS published an updated version of the report, which said 61 million to 133 million (23 to 51 percent) of non-elderly Americans have preexisting conditions. The difference in the numbers depends on the definition that is used."

Anyway the Republican press is having fun with it. I hope they enjoy it, I found this at Fox News, I get the last laugh:

Expert predicts 129 million people will lose health coverage
Nov. 04, 2013 - 5:39 - Duke University professor anticipates major ObamaCare fallout

http://video.foxnews.com/v/280602181800 ... show-clips

They not only said that with concern, they had one of those big rubber stamps to stamp the video in RED with 129,000,000. They were quite shrill and breathless about it.

You have that right.

And since I'm not covered by group policies if Obamacare is removed, I not only have to worry about pre existing conditions, I would face having to buy zomby insurance. The kind of insurance you have until you get sick and need insurance, then they cancel your policy.

They only have to cancel 3% to 5% of policies to reduce their payout on claims by about 90%. They were all doing it before Obamacare.

Regulators would look at that and say, "3% to 5%" doesn't seem that bad.

Insurance companies make a game of having one list their medical history on the application form. But there isn't anyone who has their full medical history on hand, so they leave something out.

The form has about three lines for one to fill it in, but a full medical history for just about anyone is pages long. Lots of times people don't know what their doctor has written down. If they want to get rid of a sick person they can find a way.

That's zomby insurance. It's not worth buying, might as well pay out of pocket.

Sen. Kamala Harris to Trump administration: Start a war on drug abuse, don't restart the war on drugs

http://www.latimes.com/politics/essenti ... story.html

"I saw the war on drugs up close, and let me tell you, the war on drugs was an abject failure," Harris said. "It offered taxpayers a bad return on investment, it was bad for public safety, it was bad for budgets and our economy, and it was bad for people of color and those struggling to make ends meet."

“This administration and Jeff Sessions want to take us back to the dark ages."

“We need to do the smart thing and the right thing and finally decriminalize marijuana.”

"Harris said criminal justice reform should be equitable and U.S. drug policy should treat addiction as a disease rather than as a crime."

“This is not a black and brown issue, this is not an urban and blue state issue. This has always been an American issue,” Harris said. “We need this administration to understand that if they care about the opioid crisis in rural America as they say they do, they have also got to care about the drug-addicted young man in Chicago or East L.A."

I just saw a banner ad at the top of my screen saying there will be a Kamala Harris townhall live from Iowa on CNN at 10PM eastern tonight.

If the ad returns I'll click on it, if it doesn't I'll use google later this evening to find a link so I can watch it.

That's sign of having created a campaign, having organized it, and then getting after it. Aim carefully and then shoot.

I like her. It's too early to say who I'm supporting in the primary. I'm in wait and see mode.

As in, let's see the full list of who's running. And then, since our primary is in March, let's see the debates and see who gets eliminated.

I could very well be casting a primary vote for her. I'll have made up my mind by then.

Already I'm seeing the Kremlin effect on the Harris announcement. Watch for "she's not REALLY black" (something also floated throuout the Obama runs), and the main one: a take on a legitimate critique about her record as a prosecutor. The latter is worth discussing, but in 2020 as she becomes a formidable candidate, this is already become the "but Hillary said 'superpredators'" propagandized mem. I'm watching it in action on social. Beware.

Before they are all done they will claim she had sex with a married man in an open relationship 20 years ago.

And simultaneously ignore the fact the prez and SC justice are serial rapists.

I've already had a person who was talking to me as a person point out that "this" was in the papers and what did I think about that.

Well I said to him, "I saw that, Daily Caller, Fox, Hot Airr. Wake me up when they have a video where she's bragging about grabbing men by their dog."

Today I read a headline, "Democrats distance themselves from Harris' call to eliminate private health plans."

CNN, By Alex Rogers, Manu Raju and Elizabeth Landers.

Blah!!

I read about half of it. The author were pretending to know something about it using any quote they could find of a Democrat saying what they wanted to say, and then describing that as "Democrats distance themselves"

:problem:

A few liberal activists challenged Kamala Harris’s black authenticity. The president’s son amplified their message. - WP

:problem:

Ridiculous ADOS finally makes the 6:00 nooz.

Quote:
When Donald Trump Jr. shared a right-wing provocateur’s tweet saying Sen. Kamala D. Harris is not an “American black,” it provoked angry responses from other Democratic presidential candidates, who denounced what they called the racist and “birther-style” attack.

But the president’s son was actually seizing on — and amplifying — a strain of argument made by a small group of liberal black activists. They say calling Harris “African American,” when her parents were born in Jamaica and India, effectively erases the history of most black people in this country, whose ancestors were American slaves and who have suffered for generations as a result.

“You don’t voluntarily immigrate into a community that is supposedly segregated, and then claim the struggles of people who have been here chained to chattel slavery for multiple generations,” one of the activists, Antonio Moore, said on his online radio show. “Kamala Harris does not have a black agenda.”

...

Although ADOS is a small group, that tension has permeated into the broader conversation in many black communities in recent years. Barack Obama encountered it in his 2008 run for president.

...

“A lot of people are sort of jumping out and saying this is xenophobic or nativist, but I don’t see this at all as a claim that is hostile to other communities,” Darity said. “There are people who perceived it as hostile because it breaks with the notion that there is complete homogeneity among the black community.”

He stressed that what matters about political leaders like Harris and former president Barack Obama is their agenda, not their ancestry or lineage. He also praised candidates such as spiritual leader Marianne Williamson and former housing secretary Julián Castro, who both defend the idea of reparations.

In practice, however, the discussion about lineage often becomes deeply personal.

Roland Martin, a black author and former CNN commentator who hosts an online news show, dismissed the effort to impose a black purity test as “nothing but self-hate cloaked in black self-love.” MSNBC host Joy-Ann Reid describes the movement as “the black blood-and-soil thing that is happening online,” referring to the Nazis’ “blood and soil” racial purity slogan.

What the article misses is that Yvette Carnell, one of the founders of this nativism-in-blackface movement, has endorsed the phrase in a tweet.

Quote:
Sometimes ADOS leaders will imitate the tropes of Republican operatives to drive home their argument that Democrats have not always stood by them.

Carnell once wore a “Make America Great Again” hat in a video, later saying it was a joke. The ADOS website, maintained by Carnell and Moore, says data support Trump’s assertion that black voters have “nothing to lose” by seeking an alternative to the Democratic Party.

African-heritage people from Jamaica and many other Caribbean islands or Latin America also had ancestors who went through slavery, and in many cases, after the end of slavery in THEIR countries, went through THEIR countries' own version of Jim Crow and segregation.

Saying they don't know about the experiences of people descended from slaves on U.S. soil is, in most cases, wrong.

The whole ADOS thing strikes me as yet another perfectly designed tool for divide & conquer.

Even people who came directly as immigrants from Africa (like Obama's father) still have experienced, on the continent, colonialism, imperialism, and racism from whites there. Again, it's not like they have no knowledge of the phenomenon either.

The pro-Trump stance of ADOS really gives them away. What do they have to lose? From a guy who said the Central Park Five should still be executed even after other evidence exonerated them. From a guy who, let's face it, has dog whistled a whole forest of white nationalists and supremacists into a greater level of activity. From a guy who has weakened civil rights enforcement and affirmative action in this country? From a guy who makes lip service about justice reform but really is running on a tough-on-crime law-and-order campaign and always has been ... and we know who that impacts.

They've got a lot to lose.

And more of it, once they got here, which might even be the point of Kamala mentioning her own busing anecdotes.

Also, Cuba, Jamaica, Hispanola, etc., were first stops on the way to this continent, so plenty of US-born people of African descent have roots in these places, especially in the illegal/bootleg slave trade after the formal end of the Transatlantic Slave Trade 1807. It would be nice if these people would pick up a damn history book and read it. :problem:

Yeah except a whole lot of people see through them. Honestly imo the only people who are going to fall for this in large numbers are immigrant-bashing conservative whites, who have been repeating related lies to themselves about both immigrants and African Americans for generations.

Ex: Mitch McConnell, already on record for claiming Obama's election is "reparations" () is now echoing the propaganda about Kamala Harris, that both he and Obama are descendents of slaveholders.

:problem:

Mitch McConnell responds to report his ancestors owned slaves by pointing out Obama's did too - USA Today

Quote:
WASHINGTON – Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell responded to an NBC report that his ancestors owned slaves by telling reporters he and former President Barack Obama were "once again in the same position."

"I find myself once again in the same position as President Obama. We both opposed reparations and we both are the descendants of slave-owners,” McConnell said in a Tuesday news conference following Senate Republicans' weekly conference meeting.

McConnell had been asked about the report, which found two of his great-great-grandfathers owned at least 14 slaves, according to NBC's search of the 1850 and 1860 censuses.

McConnell's comments about Obama referred to reports from 2007 about the then-presidential candidate's ancestry on his mother's side. The Baltimore Sun and other outlets had retraced Barack Obama's ancestry to confirm the geneology, and found in the 1850 census that Obama's great-great-great-great grandfather on his mother's side owned two slaves, as did one of Obama's great-great-great-great-great-grandmothers.

Lol so what. So are tons of African Americans whose ancestors were raped by these conservative white males. :problem:

Anti-Obama hate, especially on the part of Ms. Carnell -- I watched her descend into ODS madness on YouTube during the Obama years -- had people going out of their minds. I think these ADOS jerks never came out of that rabbit hole and started to actually believe their own propaganda.

This is her pinned tweet:

Quote:
It’s vile.
It’s cowardly.
It’s xenophobic.
It’s racist.
It defiles the office of the President.
And I won't share it here.

It’s time to get Trump out of office and unite the country.
