GOP Rep. Jeb Hensarling to retire after end of current term

House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) announced Tuesday that he will retire at the end of his term.

I looked at his district, the 5th. It looks like the district has most of its people living in the south east part of Dallas. Cook rates it at R+16.

After looking at recent election results I would rate it at R+40 for in incumbent Republican. In five elections Jeb was accustom to having an average of 69% of the vote. Two percent went to third party, and the Democrats averaged 29% That's R+40 :|

In an election with no incumbent and equally matched candidates and equally matched money it might go as little as R+20 or R+25.


Jeb's probably retiring because he wants to run for Governor or something.
