Dem Challenger Tracker, 01/01/2018: Exactly 18 GOP Seats Lack Democratic Candidates As We Enter 2018

2018 is finally here—a midterm election year that will hopefully be far more favorable to Democrats than federal election years of recent past. And with that, I bring some good news: as we enter 2018, only 18 currently Republican-held seats in the U.S. House lack Democratic challengers for the midterms.

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2018/1 ... Enter-2018

Here is the updated list of GOP-held seats with no known Democratic challengers:

Alabama: AL-01 (filing deadline February 9, 2018)
Kansas: KS-01
Kentucky: KY-05 (filing deadline January 30, 2018)
Louisiana: LA-01, LA-04, LA-05
Michigan: MI-10
Mississippi: MS-03 (filing deadline March 1, 2018)
Missouri: MO-03 (filing deadline March 27, 2018)
North Carolina: NC-03 (filing deadline February 28, 2018)
Ohio: OH-06 (filing deadline February 7, 2018)
Oklahoma: OK-01, OK-03
Tennessee: TN-06
Utah: UT-01, UT-03 (filing deadline March 15, 2018)
Wisconsin: WI-07
Wyoming: WY-AL

Is that all, only 18 currently Republican-held seats have no Democratic Party challenger? That's excellent. :D

I looked up all of those districts and of that list only Wisconsin: WI-07 is a high priority to find a quality Democratic Party challenger. Find a good strong fairly conservative candidate. It has a Cook PVI R+8. We might be able to win that one if we find a big blue dog. :)

This is the list of we really ought to get a warm body lined up to run for the ornery fun of it. A good place for people we've never heard of to get their start, or Justices Democrats or some such candidates to run.

Alabama: AL-01, has a Cook PVI R+15
Louisiana: LA-04, has a Cook PVI R+13
Louisiana: LA-05, has a Cook PVI R+15
Michigan: MI-10, has a Cook PVI R+13
Mississippi: MS-03, has a Cook PVI R+13
North Carolina: NC-03, has a Cook PVI R+12

All of the others have Cook PVI R+ ratings so large they're beyond the pale. :|
