Judge rejects bid for new election in Virginia House race despite voting errors

A federal judge in Alexandria, Va., on Friday rejected a request for a new election in a Fredericksburg-area House of Delegates race after an election official said 147 voters in the state's 28th District received the wrong ballot.

They filed the case in the wrong court. It's a state legislature seat. Unless there was a violation of federal voting rights act or something like that they should have filed it in state court. In Virginia a circuit court would have been the one with the jurisdiction to hear the case.

This is the second time this year I've seen this happen, filing what should have been a state court case in a Federal court. Now I'm trying to remember what state, and what elected office that other case was about.
