start to drift to voting democrat and get hit with the new war on drugs

New numbers show prescription drug problems in Jefferson County

Quote:
The numbers are in and they're not good for Jefferson County.

A prescription drug monitoring program, or PDMP, launched last year across 32 Missouri cities and counties found Jefferson County has the third-highest rate of controlled substance prescriptions.

Those numbers are concerning to some who pushed for the PDMP. But they feel the program is working by providing more hard evidence of the drug problem across Missouri.

Pharmax Pharmacy manager Erin Gooch spends plenty of time at her location in Festus filling prescriptions for potentially-addictive opioid medicines that are tracked by the PDMP.

“It’s every day,” said Gooch.

Numbers from the Jefferson County PDMP show an average of 2.1 prescriptions per resident. That's higher than the 1.6 average across all other locations in the program. Opioids comprised approximately 40 percent of all controlled substances dispensed.

Gooch said that alone isn't necessarily a bad thing.

“We have lots of access to medical care. So, I think that could be a reason for more prescriptions,” she said.

What is bad is the fact overdose deaths more than doubled the number of people killed in car crashes in Jefferson County in 2016. Gooch said the PDMP makes it easier for pharmacists to say no to people who may be abusing or diverting the medicines..........

not sure what traffic deaths in a rural area have to do with overdose deaths, would think economics and job/ personal security would be the more likely culprits

Quote:
......Vollmar knows not all prescriptions are being abused. “But, the more that are out there the more potential there is for abuse.”.......

A typo I think, a word was left out. Add the word [over] to that sentence. Then it makes sense.

"What is bad is the fact overdose deaths more than doubled [over] the number of people killed in car crashes in Jefferson County in 2016."

not really, traffic death numbers could be in relation to safety improvements like installing guard rails or traffic lights. looks like they are reaching in their reasoning, perhaps its simply contempt for peoples medical affairs being out of the reach as a tool to harm them.

She flipped a republican House seat and Trump won that district by 5%. This makes the 36th legislative win by the Democrats.

 Now they have to unseat Vern Buchanan (FL-16) who is the member of the US House who represents the district that Margaret Good won. Good, the Democrat, just defeated Buchanan's son.

LA 86 Special Election Results

Good grief, we don't care about District 86, that's a place where 3,549 out of 4,044 of the people who live there are Republicans. ;)

Where we care about is District 93, it's a place where all 4 of the 4 candidates are Democrats. That election is on March 24th. We're all on the edges of our chairs waiting to see how that special election comes out.
