State Democratic Convention begins at Hofstra amid party drama

State Democrats will assemble at Hofstra University Wednesday and Thursday to pick their nominees for governor, attorney general and comptroller — and a confluence of drama within the party, high-profile guests and President Donald Trump’s Wednesday visit to the Island could make for some sparks.

While party members are expected to nominate incumbent Gov. Andrew Cuomo actress and advocate Cynthia Nixon will also be on-hand. Nixon is challenging Cuomo’s progressive credentials, and has received the Working Families Party endorsement.

Party chief Tom Perez says DNC must keep out of primaries, then intervenes for Cuomo

WASHINGTON — Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez endorsed New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's re-election Thursday, angering some on the left who say the party leader is violating his own pledge to stay out of primaries.

Perez's highly unusual involvement caught even Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., the DNC deputy chairman, by surprise.

In her pinned tweet she says,

"Our movement is 1/2 the party. We are the future and current DNC. And now we have the power to shift its course." After saying that she links to a Bernie Sanders tweet, but alas that link is broken. :( Sniff,,, I could almost cry.

I think the movement she speaks of amounts to about 20% of the party, perhaps only 15%. :|

I think she would impress me more if when I heard about what she was up to saying and doing, it was less often being done on Fox News.

That matters hearing she's been being a Domestic Yak on Fox News, again! :( Sniff,,, I could almost cry.

Tom Perez personalty got on a stage at the convention and endorsed Cuomo. It was not a DNC endorsement is was Perez's endorsement.

There's no conflict there. Perez is both a person with his own opinion and a right to speak of them, and he holds a position in the DNC. Sanders and his crew including Ellison likes to be able to do that dual role thing of being a person thing while also holding a position as well, why can't Perez?

Ellison's being a hypocrite. :|
