Now i'm no beauty but i do stand close to 6'3" and have always been in good shape. i might not want to admit it but, over the years i have noticed that it has helped me in certain situations. Given that, why would i not believe it also gave me a bit of an advantage when stopped by a cop. Taking it a little further ya run into the caveat that is sometimes difficult to admit to. i have to admit, i also have an extra added advantage by the color of my skin. Which would make me have to admit that i have a better chance of a police stop going smoothly. It's not fair.

But here is what I think and I believe the stats will back me up, no matter how tall or attractive you are and no matter what color you are, encounters with the police generally work out peacefully. I acknowledge that some do not. However, what we should be teaching young men and women is not to get combative or resist law enforcement officers. We are training many of these folks to fear these encounter rather than how to navigate safely thru those encounters. So what results becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. That is no excuse for bad behavior on the part of law enforcement but there is a time and a place and a process to address those grievances. And I know that we need to improve the standards, processes, training and recruiting of LE. I get all that.
Bottomline, we as a country of laws need law enforcement. They aren’t going away. We should always be looking for ways to improve the system. I don’t think constantly ripping away at it with briars brush attacks and teaching people to fear is a viable way forward. At some point in time, we have to look forward and move ahead understanding that it’s never going to be perfect.

But, according to you all police are racist and go to work every morning hoping to shoot an African American.

Did the place and process work in those instances? Of course, this is one thing, again, you won’t address.
I could have the numbers wrong, but they’re in the ballpark. In Minneapolis, there were something like 26,000 complaints against officers. Less than 10 resulted in any action at all.
So what you’re doing is saying, shut up and take it.
Tell me, should Rosa Parks have submitted and did as ordered and gave up her seat on the bus? Yes or no?
I’ve been good friends with many black people throughout may life. Not one of them ever told me that blacks have nothing to fear from the police.

Man dies after cops restrained him on the ground, ignored his warning of 'heart problems' and used stun gun on him, video showsOrganizers of the press conference later this morning in Raleigh, NC say Darryl Williams' family deserves answers surrounding his death.
Police in North Carolina released footage Friday showing officers use a stun gun on a Black man who had told officers he had heart issues. At one point the man, who died about an hour later, was held on the ground by officers as he was shocked.
Darryl Tyree Williams, 32, was pronounced dead at a hospital Jan. 17. A police report says officers observed an open container of alcohol and marijuana in a parked car as Williams was in the driver's seat. During an attempt to arrest him, police say Williams was shocked three times and eventually handcuffed by officers in southeast Raleigh.
Six officers are on administrative leave amid an investigation by the Raleigh Police Department's Internal Affairs Unit. The State Bureau of Investigation is also conducting a probe.....

Lawsuit claims Alabama man froze to death in police custody, was ‘likely’ placed in jail freezer
WALKER COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) – The mother of Anthony “Tony” Mitchell, a Walker County, Alabama man who died in police custody in January, has filed a federal lawsuit against multiple jail officials, including Sheriff Nick Smith, alleging that authorities deprived the man of his constitutional rights by leaving him in the jail’s walk-in freezer “or similar frigid environment” for hours.
“This is one of the most appalling cases of jail abuse the country has seen,” the 37-page federal lawsuit, seen at the bottom of this story, begins. “On the night of January 25 to January 26, 2023, Anthony Don Mitchell (“Tony”) froze to death while incarcerated at the Walker County Jail.”

Tennessee officers’ conduct probed in woman’s death
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Four Tennessee police officers are being investigated for their treatment of a woman whose pleas for help they repeatedly ignored as they accused her of faking illness after she was discharged from a hospital. The woman was pronounced dead a day later.
The Knox County District Attorney’s office announced on Monday that it would not press criminal charges after an autopsy determined that 60-year-old Lisa Edwards died of a stroke and that “at no time did law enforcement interaction cause or contribute to Ms. Edwards’ death.”

Memphis judge blocks release of 20 hours of video, documents related to Tyre Nichols investigation
A Memphis judge ruled nearly 20 hours of additional footage and internal documents related to the city's investigation into the death of 29-year-old Tyre Nichols cannot be released until the lawyers for the five former Memphis police officers charged in his death have seen the new video.
Shelby County Criminal Court Judge James Jones Jr. signed a court order blocking the release which was filed Wednesday by Blake Ballin – the attorney representing Desmond Mills, Jr. – and signed on to by the other four former officers.
"The court orders that the release of videos, audio, reports, and personnel files of City of Memphis employees related to this indictment and investigation (to include administrative hearings, records and related files) shall be delayed until such time as the state and the defendants have reviewed this information," the court order read. "The release of this information shall be subject to further orders of this court and, in the public interest, will be ordered as soon as possible."......

Kinda points out Glen’s simplistic statistics are misleading. I would also add that theoretically there should be far more whites killed by police violence than what Glen posted based upon population percentages.

Georgia State Patrol shot Manuel "Tortuguita" Terán during a raid on an encampment of forest protectors who oppose the construction of Atlanta's $90 million police training center dubbed "Cop City." An independent autopsy released Monday also shows 26-year-old Tortuguita was likely seated cross-legged when they were shot 14 times.
Tortuguita's family on Friday sued the city of Atlanta after the release of more video evidence of the shooting was blocked. "There's no reason to withhold this evidence. The public deserves to know. More importantly, the family deserves to know," says civil rights attorney Jeff Filipovits, who is representing the family.
He adds that despite law enforcement claims that Tortuguita may have fired on officers, there is no evidence of that.

DOJ investigates deputies accused of shoving guns in mouths of 2 Black men
BRANDON, Miss. (AP) — Several deputies from a Mississippi sheriff’s department being investigated by the Justice Department for possible civil rights violations have been involved in at least four violent encounters with Black men since 2019 that left two dead and another with lasting injuries, an Associated Press investigation found.
Two of the men allege that Rankin County sheriff’s deputies shoved guns into their mouths during separate encounters. In one case, the deputy pulled the trigger, leaving the man with wounds that required parts of his tongue to be sewn back together. In one of the two fatal confrontations, the man’s mother said a deputy kneeled on her son’s neck while he told them he couldn’t breathe.

“This Is A Hate Crime”: Kansas City Black Family Demanding Justice After A White Man Shoots Black Boy, Ralph Yarl, In The Head Twice For Ringing Doorbell Of The Wrong Home, White Man Released By Police Hours Later
KANSAS CITY, MO – Ralph Yarl, a 16 year old Black boy, was shot twice by a white man in North Kansas City after accidentally ringing the doorbell of the wrong home while attempting to pick up his sibling. The white man reportedly shot Ralph in the head through the glass door, then when Yarl was already bleeding out on the ground, shot him again. The family has described it as a hate crime, and community members are calling for justice for the young victim.
“This was not an ‘error’; this was a hate crime. You don’t shoot a child in the head because he rang your doorbell. The fact that the police said it was an ‘error’ is why America is the way it is,” said Dr. Faith Spoonmore, the aunt of Ralph Yarl.
