This is too over the top for sane people.

https://www.rawstory.com/desantis-pledges-slitting/
Governor DeSantis “appeared bent on demonstrating that no candidate talks tougher. He promised that, under his presidency, Mexican drug cartels would be ‘shot stone cold dead,’ and vowed that when it comes to federal bureaucrats, ‘we are going to start slitting throats on Day One.'”

The Florida governor who is in second place in the GOP primary, yet trailing Donald Trump in the polls by as many as 37 points, used similar language last week, saying his Secretary of Defense would need to “slit some throats” as well.

“During an interview with Real America’s Voice, Florida’s Governor said he wanted a Defense Secretary with a sharp blade and a killer instinct who isn’t wedded to the extant hierarchy,” Florida Politics reported.

DeSantis “said the person he picks to run the Pentagon would have to be prepared to ‘slit some throats’ and be ‘very firm, very strong’ in imposing their will."

He is a piece of shit that all cons on this board would break speed limits to get to the polls to vote for.

This is why the cons here and out there are NO DIFFERENT than armed, uniformed Nazi soldiers.
I sigh in your general direction.

If you're a democrat who roots for The Orlando Magic i suggest you find another team to support.

Orlando Magic donates $50,000 to DeSantis-supporting super PAC

The NBA's Orlando Magic donated $50,000 to Never Back Down, the super PAC supporting Ron DeSantis' presidential bid, according to financial records filed by this week by the political action committee.

A spokesman for the team, which is owned by the DeVos family, who have supported many conservative causes and politicians, tried to nix suggestions that the Magic supported DeSantis' White House ambitions, telling ABC News in a statement that "the gift was given before Governor DeSantis entered the presidential race."

Many high net worth individuals and organizations donate money to politicians and pacs of both parties. I don’t know if that’s the case here but it would not surprise me. I worked for such a man who donated money to candidates in both parties. Sometimes candidates that were competing with each other in the same race. Hedging their bets I guess.

Arizona opinion: How Marianne Williamson's daring plan offers hope to defeat the unrelenting heat
.... One of her key proposals is a bold investment in renewable energy sources. By transitioning away from fossil fuels and embracing solar, wind, and other clean energy alternatives, we can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change. Williamson’s plan is backed by an analysis from the Stanford Natural Gas Initiative, which highlights the feasibility and benefits of a swift transition to renewables. (Source: Stanford Natural Gas Initiative)

Moreover, Williamson’s climate strategy includes extensive investment in green infrastructure. By revamping city planning and transportation systems, Phoenix can become a model for sustainable urban development. Green roofs, permeable pavements, and an increased number of trees can mitigate the urban heat island effect, reducing temperatures and enhancing the overall livability of the city. The Nature Conservancy offers insightful research on the importance of green infrastructure in urban areas. (Source: The Nature Conservancy)

But addressing climate change is not enough; we must also prepare for its immediate consequences. Marianne Williamson’s comprehensive climate adaptation plan for Phoenix aims to protect vulnerable communities from extreme heat events. By investing in cooling centers, providing assistance to low-income households for energy-efficient upgrades, and prioritizing the health of our most vulnerable citizens, we can mitigate the devastating impacts of rising temperatures. The American Public Health Association supports this approach and emphasizes the importance of adapting to the changing climate to safeguard public health. (Source: American Public Health Association)

Critics may argue that Williamson’s proposals are too ambitious or expensive, but the cost of inaction is far greater. The economic toll of extreme heatwaves on cities like Phoenix is substantial. According to a study published in the journal “GeoHealth,” the financial burden of extreme heat events in the United States surpassed $10 billion in 2022 alone. (Source: GeoHealth)

Beyond the financial aspect, the heatwave in Phoenix takes a toll on mental health, productivity, and social cohesion. It exacerbates health conditions like heatstroke and respiratory illnesses, disproportionately affecting the elderly and disadvantaged communities. Williamson’s approach considers these human aspects, recognizing that policies must be both environmentally responsible and people-centric. Marianne Williamson’s visionary policies, encompassing renewable energy investment, green infrastructure, and climate adaptation, present a beacon of hope to combat the devastating consequences of Phoenix’s record-breaking heatwave...........

Gen Z doesnt seem to matter much to most of the candidates, they mostly go unrecognized as public policy and budgets tend to be arranged in ways that leverage disempowerment and disfunction against them.

Gen Z: Only 7 points behind Biden

I couldn’t help but be amused when on the Pod Save America podcast this week, guest co-host Alyssa Mastromonaco said she is “stressed the f*ck out” that in the recent New York Times poll only 34% of 19-29 year olds want Biden, while 27% want Marianne Williamson, and 13% want RFK Jr.

Not that I want to stress anyone out, but I do admit I’m flummoxed that some people simply cannot understand why a generation of Americans drowning in college loan debt, without health care, struggling to make it on low paying jobs and feeling no hope for the future, aren’t jumping up and down to support President Biden in 2024….
Its as if they are purposely being weakened and made unequal so as to be made unable to participate in their own democracy, and at an extreme disadvantage in the econmic and justice systems.

I like that Marianne can see this and is oriented in such a way that other candidates arent, and that she grounds her policy in empowering and treating young people fairly and justly. The return on that is far better than leaving them hopeless and hurting and in no position to resist or refuse mistreatment or trouble.

DeSantis Has Law Enforcement Block Iowa Journalist From Event

Gov. Ron DeSantis’ campaign team today contacted law enforcement in an attempt to prohibit Iowa Starting Line reporters from covering his campaign in the Hawkeye State, according to Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies.

Two reporters—including Starting Line’s Chief Political Correspondent Ty Rushing—were greeted by multiple sheriff’s deputies at the entrance of the American Legion in Harlan on Friday afternoon, where DeSantis was making his second campaign stop of the day.

The GOP never cares about copyright infringement thinking musical artists music only benefits to them.

It shows that the GOP doesn’t REALLY care about OTHER PEOPLE’S property rights. They keep stealing music, just like they stole property from Arlington TX homeowners and gave the property to GW Bush and his cronies to develop and make millions off of.

It is with great sorrow that I must inform you Francis Suarez has suspended his campaign. It was over before it even began.

I forgive you if you said "who?". He's Miami's (city) Mayor. (We have another one for unincorporated parts of Dade county. I voted for her.)

Well, he got in a few jabs at Guv. Ron before dropping out. It was fun while it lasted. :D

Once again Ron DeSantis proves that he is wholly unworthy of being a Governor, let along President of the United States. He refused to see Joe Biden in his tour of storm damage, I guess because he’s scared of being seen as someone that would work across political lines for the good of the people of his state.

Interestingly, Senator (and former Governor) Rick Scott DID tour the damage with the President. But DeSantis is just too gutless or too hateful - maybe both - to do the right thing.

This is something that Governors do. In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Chris Christie toured the damage with President Obama. Let’s remember that DeSantis was a Congressman then, and he voted AGAINST giving support to a blue state.

Yet you can bet that DeSantis will be holding his hand out for federal assistance, and Joe Biden, proving that he’s a better man than DeSantis, will give him the help required.

This should how DeSantis would rule as President - he would only give storm money to red states that vote for him. He is wholly unqualified to be President.

Yea and he courts white supremacist voters in between mass shootings where he then condemns them before courting them again.

Yang confirms ‘conversations’ with No Labels

Former presidential candidate Andrew Yang confirmed that he has had “conversations” with individuals tied to the political organization No Labels.

Yang, an entrepreneur who ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020, told Politico in an interview Monday that he and the group have “a lot of friends and people in common” but avoided directly saying if No Labels approached him about running for president again under their banner.

This is just my personal opinion but I think those behind No Labels have miscalculated. I think it might just do more damage to Donald than the Democrats.

It gives those who don't want to vote for Donald another option that isn't voting for Democrats.

STATEMENT OF DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE MARIANNE WILLIAMSON REGARDING THE UNITED AUTO WORKERS NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE BIG 3 AUTO COMPANIES
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 15, 2023 WASHINGTON DC – “I stand in solidarity with the United Auto Workers in their historic strike for a just contract with the Big Three automakers. These workers are doing exactly what needs to be done in order to take back our country from corporate overreach.

I support their demands for wage increases with cost-of-living adjustments, an end to the tiered employment system, better benefits, and a 32-hour work week. We need a Democratic Party and a government that stands with organized labor, not with unfettered corporate power.

I am aligned with that goal as a candidate and I will be as President, too. Government should stand arm and arm with all forces of economic justice. ”**END** ###
UAW names strike targets in Michigan, Ohio, Missouri
UAW President Shawn Fain announced Thursday the first wave of plants the union will strike across the Detroit Three automakers if a new labor agreement is not reached before midnight: Ford Michigan Assembly Plant (Final Assembly and Paint only) in Wayne, Stellantis Toledo Assembly Complex in Ohio and General Motors Wentzville Assembly in Missouri.

Fain made the announcement during a 10 p.m. Facebook Live presentation. His comments came near the end of a day of last-minute bargaining across the Detroit automakers. The UAW has been negotiating with all three carmakers separately, yet simultaneously, since late summer.

"The world is watching. And the UAW is ready to stand up," Fain said. "This is our defining moment."......

Column: Trump has a second-term agenda, and it’s more terrifying than ever

WASHINGTON — Former President Trump is on the campaign trail again, and most of the attention he’s getting is for bare-knuckled attacks on his chief opponents, President Biden (whom he derides as “Crooked Joe”) and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (“DeSanctimonious”), as well as the prosecutors who have indicted him (“fascist thugs”).

Amid the insults, Trump has laid out a menu of actions he plans to take if he becomes president again. Anyone who isn’t a true believer in Trump’s authoritarian vision should be terrified.

Cenk Uygur is So Frustrated By Biden’s Lagging Poll Numbers That He’s Staffing Up for a 2024 Run

Cenk Uygur says he’s so mortified by the prospect of former President Donald Trump winning a second term over incumbent President Joe Biden, who he views as weak, that he’s staffing up for a 2024 run of his own.

The progressive thought leader and founder of The Young Turks appeared on Breaking Points with Krystal Ball and Saagar Enjeti Thursday morning to promote his new book Justice is Coming.
