So here's what we already know: the 12th Doctor is teaming up with the 1st (played by the actor who portrayed William Hartnell portraying the First Doctor :D ). He is finally gonna regenerate into Jodi Whitaker, after having put it off for so long.

Obviously, something timey-wimey is going on, because the posters and trailers of recent suggest both Bill will return (well, she was rescued from death and/or being turned into a Cyber'man' by her watery-cosmic lesbian friend), and more interestingly ... Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, who's been gone since the 70s, I think.

I like most of the Dr. Who Christmas specials. It will be interesting to see when the new season begins what the character of the Doctor, this time for the first time it's a woman, will be like. I'm not a big fan of Peter Capaldi's character but more along the lines of David Tennet and Matt Smith.

BTW, I was wrong. The guy on the left is not Lethbridge-Stewart, but instead a WW I fighter pilot met in the course of the episode.

Farewell, Peter Capaldi. You may not have been everyone's favorite doctor, maybe not mine either, but ... they all brought something to the role. I liked your something.

I know why many Whovians will miss you.

Tomorrow, the clock strikes 13.

Spoilers?

Well, I was half right about the third guy in the special. He is a Lethbridge-Stewart.

The Christmas angle comes in when you realize it is set around the Christmas armistice of WW I.

The Doctor is reunited with Bill Potts, and even gets to say goodbye to Nardole & Clara. This makes sense within the context of the episode.

Seems every modern regeneration causes a Tardis meltdown, so they can redo the look of the interior. :D

The Jodi Whitaker era looks to begin with a cliffhanger. Practically, literally. I wonder if she will have a male companion.

Guess we find out in Fall of 2018.

The Doctor (as Capaldi)'s final speech (this is him noting things for Jodi Whitaker to remember): -- he also throws in his own little "theory" about The Doctor's real name ...

http://www.radiotimes.com/news/tv/2017- ... on-speech/

Never be cruel, never be cowardly. And never ever eat pears! Remember – hate is always foolish…and love, is always wise.

Always try, to be nice and never fail to be kind. Oh, and….and you mustn’t tell anyone your name. No-one would understand it anyway. Except….

He gasps, falls to the floor

Except….children. Children can hear it. Sometimes – if their hearts are in the right place, and the stars are too. Children can hear your name.

Gasps, grunts more

But nobody else. Nobody else. Ever.

[snip][end]

I think it's funny he says that - as obviously, he did tell River Song it, on their wedding day. He whispered it. :D The audience has never heard it.

I think the only thing the episode missed was a River Song goodbye; but then, they did get to spend about 50 years together. :D

Jodie Whittaker's character is going to be interesting to watch. She will have three new companions, an older man and a young man and woman, when the series resumes in late 2018.
