I would've left these shows alone this it's always about costs.

‘Magnum PI,’ ‘Cagney and Lacey’ Reboots Among Six Pilot Orders at CBS

CBS picked up six pilots for the 2018-2019 season, including reboots of “Cagney and Lacey” and “Magnum P.I.”

Reboots shows a lack of imagination on the part of writers, producers, and programmers allowing them to play it "safe" instead of coming up with new shows. There are plenty of books with characters that would make interesting programs. Some examples: Detective Alex Cross or NYCPD Detective Michael Bennett by James Patterson. L.A. Detective Harry Bosch or The Lincoln Lawyer Mickey Haller by Michael Connelly.

I'm currently reading a series by Iris and Roy Johansen about a San Diego psychologist Kendra Michaels who reluctantly helps the FBI catch serial killers. Now in her 30s, she helps autistic children through musical therapy. She was born blind but when she was 20 years, her mother took her to London for stem cells therapy which restored her sight. Because of her blindness she's had to depend on her other senses and now that she can see she notices details others miss. Kendra's assisting with the FBI puts her in danger physically, emotionally, and both in her public life and private life.

As a Boomer, I'd rather watch the original shows. The only re-boot I've liked was Battlestar Galactica which was better than the original. I do like watching Antenna TV and COZITV which shows the old shows from the 60s and the 70s. I tape Soap and watch it the next day.

It's the nobody-under-50-watches-cable edict again.

Since most of them won't see 60 again either, or so the story goes, let's put all the old shows back on, with the originals back as geriatric cases if they are ambulatory.

It's not going to work any better than the movies' youth movement did. These sweeping declarations are based on snapshots of a moment in time, not long term audience trends. They are, basically, stupid.

I watched a couple of The Prisoner original shows. No doubt about it, they don't make them like that anymore. I used to watch old movies a lot on TV. I watched The Wizard of Oz a hundred times.

I love old tv shows. I think they were better than today's tv.

I bought the box set of The Prisoner about 15 years ago and I still watch them. The only other TV series I own is Rumple of the Bailey which I got hooked on watching it on Armed Forces TV when I was in Korea in the early 90s.

I agree overall the old TV shows were better.
