Irish Fisheman Plan To Disrupt Russian Naval Excerises.

Post by marindem01 »

Irish fishing boats are planning to peacefully disrupt military exercises by the Russian navy, Patrick Murphy, chief executive of the Irish South and West Fish Producers Organisation, said Tuesday.

The military drills are to take place in international waters 240 kilometers off Ireland’s southwest coast next month. But Irish fishermen are claiming that the drills threaten a crucial area for marine life and an important fishing region. According to the Russian ambassador to Ireland, Yuri Filatov, the drill would be “a small exercise — maybe three or four ships, not more.”

Fishermen are not impressed.

Maddow laid out the stakes here, and in fact it goes way past a fishing dispute. It gets into what kind of mischief Russia might do to raise the stakes in a confrontation with NATO. One option they MAY have explored is to destroy all undersea cables connecting the US to Europe. There have been a lot of suspicious Russian "oceanographic" activities around these cables, that "just happen" to be in the Irish EEZ that the fishermen are talking about. They are a major point of economic vulnerability, and such a sudden massive loss of comm infrastructure would make anything the pandemic caused look like a minor annoyance by comparison.

Nobody ever said WWIII had to use nukes.

I saw this TRMS. This is how to confront. Non-Violent Freedom of Navigation.

Now let's confront Russian disinfo ops in the US. We know who is doing them. Time to ratchet up the info war.

Oh, and BTW:

There are NAVTEX maritime safety bulletins out about other Russian "exercises" in various international waters. One hopes that the US intell and military assets are smart enough to keep tabs on these.
