The "They've Got Nothing" (on Ketanji) Thread

Post by ProfX »

She would be an awesome addition to SCOTUS even if she wasn't my HS classmate. :D (And she is, BTW. Gosh honest.)

Baseless OAN attack on Ketanji Brown Jackson echoes QAnon conspiracy theory
https://www.mediamatters.org/supreme-co ... acy-theory

Following Sen. Josh Hawley’s (R-MO) Twitter rant yesterday against Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, a segment on OAN took his unfounded and misleading attacks against her record in a more deranged direction. The host and her guest falsely accused Jackson of being “kind” to pedophiles, echoing the long-running QAnon conspiracy theory accusing liberal elites of engaging in pedophilia.

[snip][end]

C'mon rational Rethugs, if you still exist, ignore this Qcumber-crap, and confirm her.

After reading some of her background, Judge Jackson is more than qualified. Way more Kav or Barrett.

BTW, it's weird, I cannot remember F**ker Carlson demanding to see the LSATs of either Barrett or Kavanaugh.

Funny that.

Without exaggeration she is approximately 326 times more qualified than ACB or whatever her fuckingname is and Kavanaugh combined, and I do mean if you combined their intellect, education and practical experience.

pro tip: if you supported the guy who was so blackout drunk all the way through prep school and college that he literally has no idea how many women he assaulted, kindly sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up about a Supreme Court nominee who is actually qualified

A reminder: playing into this "qualifications" canard perpetuates white supremacist standards regarding Black, Latino, and Native American job candidates.

Give it a couple minutes and it also applies to Jewish and Asian candidates.

Doesn't matter if it's for garbage collector or SCOTUS nominee, doesn't matter if we're from Yale or just got our GED on Friday afternoon.

Conservative whites invariably trot out the "qualifications" canard about all of us. They never talk this way about perceived-white candidates, ever. Don't buy into it.

I've talked about these white cons targeting Griswold v. Connecticut many times here. search.php?keywords=griswold

Griswold v Connecticut is about personal privacy from the government in sexuality and reproduction. The goal is to get the government back into the bedroom and the doctor's office. Their anti-trans kid laws that criminalize any parent who supports their own children is a part of this.

White conservative women OTOH are often even worse and even more lethal than white conservative males, because they have something to prove. The entire machinery of US segregationism was predicated on protecting these vicious karens from Black men raping them.

Their own men treat them like unredeemable whores and breeding machines, and they in turn vote for men like Roy Moore and Donald Trump.

Marsha Blackburn, Palin, Boebert, MGT, Brown, they are all Carolyn Bryants. All of them.

Getting Away with Murder - PBS

Difference is, Carolyn Bryant never held office in her stupid karen life.

This is just more "qualifications" crap.

People need to quit falling into this trap, because that's all it is.

It's also a diversion from the actual issues of what her policies and rulings are.

She also clerked for the guy who's retiring.

Yet all people are talking about are her "qualifications" and LSAT scores. :problem:

Classic white supremacism.

That about sums it up.

Sigh. And more idiocy from Marsha Blackburn.

Like CJ says, qualifications is a canard. And only brought up when it is not a white person or not a male.

Unqualified describes ACB, Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas. The other cons are qualified, just horrible people.

These arent decent people, the GOP. And none of this really matters in the long run because this November the GOP has no intention of certifying elections they lose from here on in. That will mean the end, of it all.

And that is my last "qualifications" comment for the reason CJ mentioned.
I sigh in your general direction.

It's not a list of her qualifications but it's a summary of her education and career much like you'd find on a resume. The only qualification needed to be a Supreme Court Justice, according to the Constitution, is they have to be trained in the law.
People need to quit falling into this trap, because that's all it is.
The only ones who fall "into this trap" are those who blindly follow TFG.
It's also a diversion from the actual issues of what her policies and rulings are.
Her rulings and her perspectives on the law is what is the Senators should be focusing on.

There are no qualifications in the constitution to be a Supreme Court justice.

While I oppose her extreme left wing liberal beliefs she is qualified for the job.
I just hope the GOP doesn't stoop to the democratic party sewer and start making false accusations of rape against her.
Or make mysogonist slanderous remarks about her the way the democratic party did and continue to do about Comey-Barrett.
I will be personally very disappointed if they go as low as the scum did against recent Republican nominees

You guys who keep focusing on “qualifications” are deliberately poisoning the well based on white-supremacist, anti-Black stereotypes.

You of all people are the least-qualified person of all to stand in judgment of any Black professional’s “qualifications.”

I had the extreme displeasure of listening to that stupid bigot Lindsey Graham and his asinine grandstanding on that a-hole Amy Coney Barrett and whack job Janice Rogers Briwn.

Conservatives, especially the vile conservatives whites, have nothing on KBJ, so the best they can do is cry affirmative action and grouse about old traumas like their favorites being challenged in public.

Boo hoo.

Barrett was one most Un-Qualified People ever put forward.

Kav was such a black out drunk that he could not remember the names of the Women he had sexually assaulted.

Judge Brown-Jackson's is one of most qualifed people ever put forward as a Supreme Court Justice. But for Glenn and the other Republican Bigots, being Black and Female is enough reason to question her "Qualifications".

What are those? Name them.

While it's an interesting philosophical-biological question about women raping others (I believe it is possible, for certain they can be charged with statutory), that would be strange. No?

I'm not aware of any accusers? Are you? Whether all of Kavanaugh's accusers (there was more than one) were all lying is possible, but let's note they existed. It's not like the accusation came out of thin air.

BTW, I still believe that it was later established that Anita Hill absolutely was telling the truth about Clarence Thomas. (And, I remind, there were other accusers - of harassment, not rape - against him.)
Or make mysogonist slanderous remarks about her the way the democratic party did and continue to do about Comey-Barrett.
Name those. I can definitely say my opposition to her had nothing to do with her gender. However, you do have a weird habit of conflating criticism of female public figures with misogyny -- I know the difference.

Weren’t both Kavanaugh and Barrett both questioned on their qualifications? Aren’t these hearings mor or less job interviews. Is it improper to question any judicial nominees on their qualifications and judicial philosophy?

I’ve been listening to the hearings and Inthink the nominee is handling herself quite well. I personally haven’t heard anything this far that would or should disqualify her. This far the hearings have been respectful.

My problem with the Kavanaugh hearing was how it was handled. The accusations would have been investigated and should have been investigated prior to the hearing in the normal course of business were it not for the fact that Sen Feinstein choose to withhold that information from the committee. If people are upset with the result then they should take that up with Sen Feinstein.
