This opinion is shared by the VAST majority of cons.

When it comes to finding a way to shove two feet inside your mouth at the same time, the Kansas Republican caucus sure has it all figured out. As the Kansas state legislature was headed to adjournment until April 25, members offered bipartisan support of Women’s History Month, and discussed the historical difficulty women have faced in the workplace.

But not all of the representatives were on quite the same page. As she spoke, in the State House, state Rep. Heather Meyers (D-Overland Park) heard state Rep. Paul Waggoner offer this unique analysis from somewhere behind her: Women don’t earn as much because they don’t work as hard. He faced some immediate pushback.
I sigh in your general direction.

I worked with and supervised many women during my AF career and from my experience that jackass from Kansas is wrong. Anecdotally, I'd say 90% of the women outworked and outproduced the men. Of my troops I depended upon to get the job done most of them were women. IMO, women tend to want to do a good job and they are more detailed oriented than men. They are better at malfunctioning than men being able to balance 3-5 items whereas most men could only handle 2-3 items.

But of course, it's no surprise the claim was made by a woman male, misogynistic, conservative republican.

I think what he was talking about is as many hours or as much overtime or holding down more than one job.
When there are children involved most families stick to traditional roles. When a child is sick or scared they generally want their mommy.
My sister is in her 70s and almost past away last year. When in the ICU she was delirious and asking for her mommy.

Don't give me that shit. My mom worked three jobs at once to raise me when I was little.

Don't give me any shit that women don't work as hard.

What the man said was indefensible, but because he's a Republican, you'll come here and defend it.

Your mom is the exception which proves the rule.
Most working mothers need to balance the emotional needs of their children with their ability to work.
Which in almost every instance means thet simply can't put in the same number of hours as dad.
Take my profession all drivers get the same rate at whatever company they drive for.

Yet the men always wind up being the top earners. Because women have more important things to do than work 70 hours a week

What a load of sexist bullshit.

My wife went back to work while I stayed home to raise my kid until he was in elementary school. She’s extremely intelligent and has two degrees, one from Caltech. She’s a top wage earner and the most sought after source at her office. She’s not an exception to the rule. This isn’t the 1950s.

I have friends who did the exact same thing. But again you and they are the exception. Stating the truth is not sexist. Do you really believe that women with children are willing or able to put in the same hours as most men.
Again thet can't and they dont when given a choice. Because they have a much more important job waiting at home

No, this isn’t the exception.

No, you’re not stating any truth. You’re a sexist bigot who lives in the 1950s.

Not true at all, except in your Handmaids Tale community where 19 year old men duck 15 year old girls and call it “love.”

What you describe is an archaic and has no basis in the long bed reality of millions of families.

Your party is currently trying to destroy those/our families for not wanting to be Ozzy and Harriet.

Your 19th century misogynist logic is the basis of sex and gender discrimination white cons wish to force us all back into.

So, why does this same gender pay gap persist even for women who are unmarried and childless?

Because BTW it does.

Sexist, and braindead heterosexist on top of it.

A household with kids headed by two women or by two men obviously cannot be trapped into what this guy labels “traditional” roles.

You don’t know Jack shit about working women and working mothers.

Not all women have kids.

Single fathers are often in the same boat.

Transgender parents deal with all of these dumb stereotypes and more.

None of these things are valid rationales for paying women less for the same job, based on braindead conservative gender ideology.

I do not know but would guess it is because the men work more hours or do jobs the women aren't able to.
I know personally I don't believe I've ever had a job where the women were paid less than the men. But the top yearly earners were usually the men.
Now it could be the women aren't getting the same overtime opportunities.
I know I had this argument with GoU a few years ago. My oldest daughter has 2 kids under age 6. She doesn't work any more hours than are required so she can be home.
So if a promotion comes available shouldn't it go to the person who works all the hours available. His position at the time is that would be sexist by denying the female the opportunity for advancement.

Uh huh. Except, when sociologists study this, they carefully control to make sure the men and women are working the same hours and doing the same job. And what they find is the women are making less, not because they work fewer hours, but are being paid less per hour. And yes - in these carefully controlled studies, they have the same qualifications, so it's not a question of that, either.

I don't get it what it is with conservatives who say "well I didn't see it, so it doesn't happen."

I don't rely on personal knowledge. I read research.

Here's some.

https://www.aauw.org/resources/research/simple-truth/

Now here's something really interesting. Not only are white women paid less than white men (83 cents per hour on average), this ratio is lower and believe it or not, lowest not just for Black women, but for Hispanic women, who make 55 cents to the man's dollar.

https://www.aauw.org/resources/article/pay-gap-faqs/

The gender pay gap is math, not myth. Women working full time, year-round take home 18% less pay than men working full time, year-round. This is a government-published statistic based on a large, detailed, nationally representative survey of income in the United States, the Annual Social and Economic Supplements of the Current Population Survey. In 2018, the typical woman working full time, year-round was paid around $10,000 less than the typical man working the same hours.

Please recheck the thread title in which another conservative white male is rationalizing the pay gap.

The stupid rationalizations of ignorant men like you and that slimeball from Kansas are the reasoning behind the pay gap.

I know I don't
I've usually dealt with unionized companies, which by contract pay the same. But I've dealt with companies we were working on organizing which had gender differences in pay. Many of them pay less to the job classifications that were filled with mostly women, and more to the classifications that were mostly men. Based on the idea that men's work was worth more.

Glenn, can you explain why, when the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009 was passed, the overwhelming number of Republicans voted AGAINST paying women an equal wage?

I do. They’re self-obsessed, self-centered, and solipsistic, and they impose policies and laws to match.

You don’t even believe this claptrap, yourself. No conservative does.

If you misogynists truly thought of child care as a “job” you’d be advocating to pay mothers and other parents a living wage with benefits and labor rights.

Nstead, your policies are designed to force people into pregnancy via harassment, grooming, and rape; force them into carrying to term via state anti-abort laws, then force them into miserable conservative heterosexual marriages and social roles.

These are NOT “jobs” to you guys. They are compulsory roles based on your perception of people’s body parts.
