If in France, don't order Fischer. It's worse than skunk piss.

In L.A. the same thing works as in Spain, though if you call it thair-veh-tha they'll think you learned Spanish in Madrid. Sair-beh-sa works better. L.A. Spanish doesn't lisp like Castilliano, and there's a certain amount of variation around the "b" and "v" sounds.

Used to be that roast beef was one of those Spanglish things and if you said it as something like "rosbif," with a Spanish style r and a long o, you got the roasted flesh of the cow.

Dunno what you did, glen, but your link is to another clip altogether. Here's the one you meant.

I've found that "beer" works just fine, although in Ireland, you can say "Guinness" or "Harp" with the desired result. There are few barkeeps you don't understand "beer."

And of course in Italy you can get the beer right out of the vending machine.

Wish we could. Of course a person younger than 21 could get a beer and we certainly couldn't have that!
When my father was a kid, parents would send children down to the local bar to fetch a pail of beer. They even had specific pails for the purpose.
