Election Day/Night
Election Day/Night
Election results will be coming in later today and until then the news will be filling air time with "it's too close to call" segments as well as running interviews of voters at the polls asking who they voted for. We'll get the same old reports from swing states that don't tell us anything new. This year, getting an indication of who will win through exit polls won't be accurate because more and more people are voting by mail rather than showing up in-person.
We'll see election results trickling in with most attention paid to the seven swing states results. Depending upon the state, the lead can change dramatically. In states that counted early mail-in ballots, those will be reported first followed by in-person voting results and then followed by late received mail-on ballots which might not be counted for day. In Milwaukee, they're not going to be counting mail-in ballots until about 1 am Wednesday morning. Milwaukee has over 500,000 voters and if 20% of them (100,000) vote by mail you could see a big swing in the state-wide results, from one candidate to another.
One nice thing about being on the West Coast is by the time our polls close at 8 pm we'll start seeing the results from the East Coast come in. By the time we go to bed we'll have a good idea of who won and what the makeup of the House and Senate will be.
Have a safe and happy Election Day.

I haven't watched or read the news for 4 days now. Way to much bullshit. Mom and i voted at noon and i grabbed my first beer by one. i plan on watching old movies and comedies while nursing a warm glow for dinner. After that i plan on going to bed and not waking up until Wednesday night. Hopefully this horror called Trump will be over by then.

When I moved to my neighborhood 25 years ago my neighbor was an old hand. Had built his house in 1952. One of the first things he told me was to vote between 1:30-2:30. Greatest piece of advice ever. Done in 15 minutes. They’re slammed from opening to 1:00 and 3:30 to 7:00.bradman wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 1:09 pm I haven't watched or read the news for 4 days now. Way to much bullshit. Had 5 choices for President. Have a feeling this will be the most votes the unknowns will ever receive.
Re: Election Day/Night
i like hitting it closer to noon. While everyone else is eating lunch i'm voting. Poll watchers were doing a great job. We were in and out in less than 10.Greengrass wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 1:29 pm When I moved to my neighborhood 25 years ago my neighbor was an old hand. Had built his house in 1952. i guess at the very least i should thank you for not voting Trump. Although.....if Trump wins you'll forever be on my short shit list for not voting Harris.

Re: Election Day/Night
I used to run a polling site, from 2006 through 2-16, and the busiest times were when we opened, during lunch hour (11 am - 1 pm), and from 6 - 8 pm when the polls closed. We'd have people standing in line to check-in or drop off their mail-in ballots. In many elections, my polling site had three precincts with three crews of poll workers, one for each precinct, in the same location. My precinct was usually small, about 300 voters, while the others were twice that size. What I'd do is when the other two poll crews were busy and we weren't, either I or one of my poll workers would go down the line of voters asking if anyone was just dropping off their ballots. We'd take their ballots, check the outer envelope to ensure everything was filled out, give them an I Voted Sticker, and take their ballots inside and put them in the ballot box.Greengrass wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 1:29 pm When I moved to my neighborhood 25 years ago my neighbor was an old hand. It was interesting to see people come in to vote and find out they're at the wrong poll location. Our city is small and we had about 7 or 8 poll sites for people to go to. If they came in with the information from the registrar of voters with their name, address, and precinct number and were at the wrong poll site I'd tell them where their polling site was but I'd tell them where their poll location was but also offer them a provisional ballot if they didn't want to go to their polling site. When then came in without the information from the ROV, I'd get on my iPad and connect to the ROV site and look up their precinct location. There was a troubleshooter rotating among 4 of the polling sites and saw what I was doing, said that was smart, and would recommend in her after action report for others to do the same thing. I was surprised when she called me up saying she was at another polling location and they couldn't find a voter's precinct and would I look it up. I did and gave her the information to help the voter. Sometimes I miss working the polls but with most of the voters in my precinct voting by mail I wouldn't look to working a 15-hour day. Also, our small city went from 7-8 poll locations to two Super Polling locations so anyone can show up to either on and vote.

But Walz? You'd have to explain that. I don't really see him anywhere near libertarian.

It got to be to much bullshit. No sense in following that. I don't expect tonight to be much better.

Nothing's that simple.
There has to be reasons/reasoning behind it.
We're talking about tampon Timmy fer crist sake. He let the Third Precinct burn to the ground. That's an effective Governor?
i'd have to know better the why's of such support. Why?

Yeah, given the unprecedented circumstances he did ok. He got control within a reasonable time given the circumstances.
There’s a lot more to job than a one off riot. Strong education and health care governor. He’s a practical man.
And it’s simple because I like governors.

Sounds like my play book. Unfortunately the law enforcement in my area would beg to disagree.Greengrass wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 6:43 pm Yeah, given the unprecedented circumstances he did ok. He got control within a reasonable time given the circumstances.

A practical man puts tampons in the boys bathrooms?

Yeah, he didn’t do that. He signed a law requiring schools stock the proper products in school bathrooms. Administration is at the school level.

And yet it was dreamers that gave us our Republic. Don't knows for sure if ya could call that pragmatic.

We are well passed the rebellious dreamers. Pragmatism helps stability.
When I was younger I was much more of a dreamer and a rebel. When you’re a dreamer, late 60’s early 70s, advocating for rights for African Americans and women in the workplace, in an old white union company, it can get a bit dicey. But also fun. It ended with the company giving me a rather large check to please go away. Within a year the company was invaded by the EEOC and put everything I wanted in motion.
