Yea why was the military copter where it was and without the ADS-B on? And why deliberately understaff air traffic controllers for the last few generations?

Did you ever suspect that Tom Tomorrow would be the voice of sanity in a country otherwise seemingly losing that completely? And it's not the first time. By my count, it's the third.

They found the missing plane in Alaska. No survivors.

The tower at the airport formerly known as Washington National, which was renamed to honor the first right wing despot who fooled Americans that he was God's messenger on Earth, was understaffed. No way an airport that busy would have had the same guy controlling fixed wing and helicopters had everyone been available.

It's just lucky that LA lost two whole suburbs in one day while Biden was still president. Although the new guy still came out and dumped a few million gallons of our irrigation water down a shithole in the desert.

I think I always suspected that about Tom Tomorrow but yea I get what your saying too, its bizarre amount of disproportion in importance and value and order based on falseness, hypocrisy, self-absorption and self interest running rampant in news media public officials and authorities and much of the public. La showing some heart in the protests, they're hurting but the love is still alive.

Another U.S. military plane crash

US Marine from California identified as one of 4 people killed in Philippines plane crash
A U.S. Marine from California was identified by military officials Sunday as one of four people killed when a plane contracted by the U.S. military crashed in a rice field in the southern Philippines.

Sgt. Jacob M. Durham, 22, of Long Beach, died Thursday in the crash of an aircraft that was conducting a routine mission “providing intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance support at the request of our Philippine allies,” officials at Camp Pendleton, California, said in a statement. Officials said the cause of the crash was under investigation.

Three defense contractors also were killed in the crash, military officials have said.....

....Windy Beaty, a provincial disaster-mitigation officer, told The Associated Press on Thursday that she received reports that residents saw smoke coming from the plane and heard an explosion before the aircraft plummeted to the ground less than a kilometer (about half a mile) from a cluster of farmhouses.

Small planes tend to crash at a much higher rate than commercial airliners. That's because of the experience level of commercial pilots and the greater degree of maintenance they get.

And the crashes just keep on coming.

The Delta one in Canada was probably related to bad weather, but still.

I'm sure it's coincidental that it started raining aluminum and body parts on practically the same day The Latest Guy took office, but still, it does bring up some real problems with the FAA that date at least to ray gun's firing of every single air controller in the US, because they had the balls to use their right to strike. Oh, OK, the strike was bad optics, making it look like money was likely more important than air safety, but the mass firing proved that macho political posturing was definitely more important.

At least two people are dead after two small aircraft collided in midair at an Arizona airport Wednesday, authorities said.

A Cessna 172S and Lancair 360 MK II collided at 8:28 a.m. near the Marana Regional Airport, just northwest of Tucson, according to preliminary information from the National Transportation Safety Board.

The fixed-wing single-engine planes “collided while upwind of runway 12,” one of two runways at the airport. The Cessna landed “uneventfully” and the Lancair impacted terrain near the other runway and “a post-impact fire ensured,” the NTSB said.

American Airlines had more bad press, following a plane catching fire and making an emergency landing in Denver.

The Beechcraft Bonanza (small plane in the other incident) used to be a favorite of weekend pilots who learned in Cessna 172s but had enough money to buy the Bonanza. It often turned out to be too much airplane for their level of proficiency. I am assured that pilot training is more intensive now, but some people still call it the Doctor Killer.

Yes, that's the one. We still don't know why it diverted, but when it landed in Denver it caught fire.

I saw the story on the news last night and they had a number of videos from different angles. One angle was from the top of a building showing the helicopter hitting the water. There was also something hitting the water about 50 feet from the helicopter. To me, it looked like one of the rotor blades.
