Anybody who isn’t endlessly online might have had a hard time following the drama at AmericaFest. Turning Point usa, the conservative youth organisation founded by Charlie Kirk, holds the conference every December in Phoenix. Throughout this year’s event the movement’s biggest influencers sniped at one another over Israel; the platforming of antisemites and conspiracists; the specifics of Kirk’s murder on a college campus in Utah; and differing definitions of what it means to be an American. The overall picture, just three months after Kirk’s death, is one of division.

The strain on maga has been growing for months, accelerated by Kirk’s murder and the Trump administration’s handling of the Epstein files. The disputes may seem like petty recriminations among a maga media elite that is much more comfortable in opposition than in power. But they also reveal a broader fight within the Republican Party. As the right begins to look past Mr Trump and debate the party’s future, they are brawling over how big the conservative movement’s tent should be.

It would be good news if Israel is a point of contention, because that one has always been a big problem for the left. Anything that disrupts the right's tendency to fall into lockstep is a good thing. That's always been their big advantage.

PHOENIX (AP) — A former Republican lawmaker who questioned the integrity of Arizona’s elections and served as a leader for the conservative group Turning Point Action is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday for using nominating petitions that contained forged signatures in a bid to qualify for a 2024 primary election.

Austin Smith, 30, pleaded guilty in mid-November to charges of attempted fraudulent schemes and practices, and illegal signing of election petitions. He had acknowledged trying to use petitions with forged signatures that he knew were false and forging a dead woman’s signature on a nominating petition.

The Justice Department sued Virginia for refusing to hand over unredacted voter registration data Friday, making it the 24th state targeted in a sweeping federal campaign that courts have already begun to shut down.

The lawsuit seeks to compel Virginia election officials to provide the DOJ its state’s voter registration database, including voters’ full names, addresses, birthdates, driver’s license and partial Social Security numbers.

U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Minnesota Democrat born in Somalia and rhetorical target for President Donald Trump, was sprayed with an unknown substance by a man at a town hall event in Minneapolis late on Jan. 27.

The man rushed the U.S. congresswoman and sprayed her as she called for ICE to be abolished and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to be impeached. The man spoke to Omar as he doused her torso with the material; it’s unclear what he said or what he sprayed.

Utah governor signs bill adding justices to state Supreme Court as redistricting appeal looms

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah Gov. Spencer Cox signed a bill Saturday that expands the state Supreme Court from five justices to seven as frustration has mounted among Republican lawmakers over a string of defeats before the tribunal.

Republican advocates for the change argued that it would help improve the court’s efficiency. But legal experts said it could have the opposite effect and set a dangerous precedent at a time of tension between the branches of government. The state’s judiciary did not ask for more justices on the high court.

Rep. Mark Alford (R-MO) revealed that House Republicans are "investigating" Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime show because they suspect it was "much worse than the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction."

During a Tuesday interview on Real America's Voice, Alford told the hosts that he and other House Republicans were looking into the "bad performance."

"We are still investigating this. There's a lot of information that has come out about the lyrics," Alford said. "I saw the halftime show, and we're switching back and forth with the TPUSA halftime show. They, the lyrics from what we have seen, from Bad Bunny are very disturbing."

Idaho advocacy groups denounce state legislators who allowed man to testify while wearing brownface

Several advocacy groups in Idaho this week are condemning Republican members of the state’s House Business Committee for allowing public testimony from a man who appeared before the committee in brownface and has previously engaged in racist and antisemitic demonstrations throughout the state.


The man, far-right demonstrator David Pettinger, was initially stopped from testifying before the committee in broken Spanish while wearing brownface makeup and clothing appearing to stereotype Latinos, with handcuffs dangling from his wrist. He appeared at Monday’s hearing as the committee was evaluating HB 704, a bill that would require businesses in the state to verify employees’ legal status and work authorization.

They had faith that, "At least Trump doesn't start forever wars in the Middle East," and where did THAT get them?

Far as Netanyahu goes, he has hid behind the antisemitism issue for way too long. His act got old years ago. He was facing impeachment and criminal trial until Hamas conveniently attacked, and he was given open ended emergency powers. Now the "emergency" is a get out of jail free card for him, but it kills too many people, and the people have had it with his perpetual war.
