Yahoo was in the Nooz a couple of days back. I can't find it now, but I think it had to do with their dropping one of their older mail services. Yahoo has been in serious decline for years now, and I have as little as possible to do with it. They tried to ruin flickr, but fortunately someone else eventually bought it from them.

Yahoo and Yahoo news has been my main go to for years. I started noticing the decline about a year ago when the news page would slip in repeats of the same article to fill the page. On some days you'll get half way down the page and the last half will basically be a repeat of the first half. They are phasing out the old news page for a new one they have created. The new page is set up like most others now. Sponsored, slick, opinionated, and laced with AI. i don't like it and have trained my algorithm to give me the old site. Even that is failing lately and i sometimes have to go searching for it.

I use Yahoo mail and i have no problem. I believe they recently did an update and that may be causing the problem. Looking at my email account, I see where you can click to go back to the old Yahoo Mail. It's located toward the upper right-side, just to the left of the Go Ad-Free icon. You may want to give that a try.

My guess is that you got hacked by someone posing as eBay. That's just a guess, though, since most of the really popular sites are getting paid to run all kinds of crap for third-party businesses, some more legitimate than others.

You can run third-party software that locks your computer down. Unfortunately, that usually breaks most of the big sites, since they all get paid by the money people here and in Russia to plant shit on your computer. I can't use several of the big sites, because they're completely sold out. Sometimes I run tracker detectors and get back long lists of the same 20 or 30 big companies planting the same shit everywhere for anyone who will cough up the monthly fee.

News sites are the worst. Even BBC plants a whole long list of trackers all over your computer, and they get tax money from the British government. They get the British coming and going. Here, they're just another news site surreptitiously ripping you off. The scams make Al Capone look like a small-time gangster.
