When Carter first ran for Governor of Georgia, he met the KKK, he made promises the about racial purity. As soon as he was elected Governor, they knew they had been lied to. Carter advanced Civil Rights in Georgia. All those, "I will never for Carter" ads were from the Klan members. He played their racism against them. This is a man who left the Southern Baptist Church because it was to racist and homophobic for him.

Meet Coretta Scott King, a soprano and violinist who used music in her civil rights campaigning - Classic FM
In the family’s hometown, in then-segregated Alabama, Coretta Scott’s mother became known for her singing voice and performed solos in church. “There was no place else to sing for her when I was growing up,” Coretta Scott says in the same interview.

Scott was bathed in song from a young age, and soon began performing solos of her own, singing spirituals and hymns at church and in school. “I became the star pupil that the teacher showed off with when the dean supervisor came around.”

At high school, Scott’s music teacher taught her of opera’s great African American singers. “She introduced us to the classics… Marian Anderson, Paul Robeson, Roland Hayes.”

Then, she says, “I got the notion that I would really like to study music because when I heard classical music for the first time, I liked it.”

Pioneering Black educator's statue to replace Confederate statue at the Capitol - NBC News
Born in South Carolina in 1875, Bethune was one of 17 children. Her parents were formerly enslaved and the family picked cotton to make a living. Nonetheless, Bethune was committed to her education. She eventually graduated from Scotia Seminary, a Presbyterian boarding school for Black girls, in 1894.

Next, she went north to Chicago to study at the Moody Bible Institute, with the goal of doing missionary work in Africa. At the time, she was the only Black student enrolled. There, she established Sunday schools in neglected parts of Chicago, worked with prisoners in city jails, and helped with the Pacific Garden Mission, which housed and fed hundreds of people each day.

When she sought an opportunity for mission work in Africa, the Presbyterian Board of Missions denied her request and instead sent her to Georgia, where she worked at a school for Black girls. Soon after, she married Albert Bethune, and eventually the couple and their child moved to Florida. While teaching in Palatka, Florida, she learned of the poor living and educational conditions of Black residents of Daytona Beach.

Soon, Bethune started a school in Daytona with a commitment to provide Black girls a higher quality education.

Venezuelan man files $250 million lawsuit against Fox News and Sidney Powell after baseless accusations that he rigged 2020 election results

A Venezuelan businessman filed a defamation lawsuit this month against Fox News, its former host Lou Dobbs, and Sidney Powell, alleging they falsely implicated him in an election-rigging scheme and demanding $250 million in damages.

The businessman, Majed Khalil, says Dobbs and Powell wrongly wrapped him up in their conspiracy theory that Smartmatic and Dominion Voting Systems — two rival election-technology companies — worked to rig the 2020 presidential election against then-President Donald Trump and in favor of now-President Joe Biden.

6 Ways Federal Voting Rights Legislation Can Protect Voters and American Democracy - NAACP Legal Defense Fund
As 2021 comes to a close, the United States Senate has thus far failed to enact crucial federal voting rights protections. This inaction is wholly unacceptable and has steep costs for voters – especially voters of color, who are continuing to confront mounting hurdles to the ballot box with each passing week.

Over the past few election cycles, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund (LDF)’s Prepared to Vote and Voting Rights Defender teams received many reports of the consequences of insufficient federal voting rights protections, and have documented serious problems that could be readily addressed if the Senate passes both the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (VRAA) and the Freedom to Vote Act (FTVA). These voters’ experiences are just a snapshot of the numerous voting rights injustices occurring around the country and illustrate the very real consequences of insufficient federal voting rights protections, especially as states continue passing voter suppression laws.

Broadly, the VRAA would reinstate crucial protections in the Voting Rights Act of 1965 – most importantly preclearance, an essential provision significantly weakened by the Supreme Court in Shelby County v. Holder in 2013. Preclearance requires states with a history of voting discrimination to gain approval from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) or a federal court before making changes to their election processes, including implementing new election laws.

The FTVA would significantly increase voting accessibility in addition to addressing growing concerns over voter intimidation, partisan gerrymandering, voting misinformation, and other worsening crises.

Judge Resigns Over Racist Home Video Capturing "N" Word Use.

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/michelle ... 42ab73e80f.

Lafayette City Court Judge Michelle Odinet resigned Friday, weeks after a video surfaced that depicted her using racist remarks as she and her family watched security footage of an attempted burglary at their home.

I take full responsibility for the hurtful words used to describe the individual who burglarized the vehicles at my home. I am sorry for the pain that I have caused my community and ask for your forgiveness, as my words did not foster the public’s confidence and integrity for the judiciary,” Odinet said in a letter submitted to the Louisiana Supreme Court filed by her attorney Dane Ciolino, according to KATC News.

More of the issue is that she denied what she said. We KNOW she said it, and everyone else did, but still she denied it.

She SHOULD be explaining WHY she lied.

Nobody hates Carter he was just a lousy president who did a very poor job.

Now he might be the best man ever to hold the office.

As a former president he is imo the greatest of all time. I can't think of a better ambassador for the United States then he has been.

Again I don't see much hatred for president Carter

Not really, since African Americans in particular have been reporting on this phenomenon since the Reconstruction era.

I think this episode is useful for whites only in the sense that it shows how a person goes from being caught on-camera in the act, denying it, being made professionally accountable, then giving a non-apology apology.

It shows how conservative whites will invariably spin it into making themselves the victims, and rationalize their flagrantly racist behaviors.

You hate him and trash his name every time it comes up, no matter how petty.

By the way, so did the White Citizen's Council newsletter of 1976-1978.

There is a direct correlation between your rhetoric in 2021 and theirs in 1978, since you are a direct product of the White Citizen's Councils. All you're doing is following in their footsteps, like a mindless white-supremacst Good Citizen.

Maybe we should go back and revisit Carter's Presidency and accomplishments, because Joe Biden has done a helluv a job so far in the current environment, but you wouldn't know it by the conservative owned MSM and GOP constantly on the attack.

Oh, I wasn’t questioning IF there were other such judges, as we all know there are. How many? Bunches likely. That’s what the system is set up for. That’s why sentences are so widely disparate between blacks and whites for the same crimes. It’s truly undeniable.

Of course, had the roles been reversed and it’d have been a black judge that hated white people, they’d be looking for charges to file. It wouldn’t be about just resigning.

This WS thinks only in terms of time and munny.

I mean, forget the actual persons who are quite likely race-based victims of her rulings and white-conservative ideology.

Time is munny, and oh my goodness she could have been wasting time! And so like, wasting munny!

We were never persons or humans or franchise-granting individuals to violent conservative whites like Glennfs, and we aren't now. We never will be, either. It's reflected in his views not just towards African Americans of any sex or gender, but women of any race, ethnicity, or gender identity. Former judge Odinete is case in point of a karen who buys into Glennfs's vicious lifestyle choice of seeing us simply as niggers.

Very true, and a great point. Glenn, why did you only think about time and money, and not the lives of innocent people she may have destroyed?
