Moderates -- like you -- are cons, who vote con. Who cares.

Are you KIDDING???
Oh, geeze.
This whole line of thinking is... insane.
Tell me what, you make an argument that Democrats would want a right-wing Republican to run for vice president from the Democratic Party. Go ahead.
Because I'll be honest, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.

Of course it's insane.
i'm talking about Romney vs Harris in a Presidential run in 2024.

Re: Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer to retire
Well, this is even MORE insane.
Romney couldn't get elected to any office in today's GOP. If it's not Trump, it's going to be all about the ultra-far right, like DeSantas. I mean, the GOP is driving any sane moderate out of the party. If Trump doesn't run, it'll be a DeSantas or his like that gets the nom.

Me, I think Romney could be a contender by 2024.

So, with Trump campaigning against him (only way that won't happen is if Trump has passed away), and most GOP primary voters are Trumpers, how could he get the nomination?
I mean, I'm a realist. This just won't happen. Romney couldn't even get nominated for the Senate in Utah. Trump owns the GOP now, and that's just reality.

After 2 decades involved in hard campaigns at many levels, I've had it burned into me that you HAVE to be realistic. There are campaigns that are simply unwinnable. For instance, Doug Jones, a great guy and a great Dem with a great history and bio, ran to replace Jeff Sessions in the Senate in a special election in December 2017 in Alabama.
The reasons he won were: 1. Special election, so naturally lower turnout, and you could excite Dems more. 2. A GREAT campaign ran by Joe Trippi, a genius campaign operative. 3. The absolute worst Republican candidate, Roy Moore, who liked young girls a bit too much.
He won a VERY tight race.
In 2020, even as the incumbent, and with another great campaign, he only got 40% against popular former Auburn football coach Tommy Tuberville.
That was an impossible feat in Alabama.
I learned you have to be VERY hard-minded about this. Look at these things with your HEAD, not your heart.
When we were in the 2020 primaries, Glenn was saying that Bernie Sanders had the nomination in the bag. I wasn't pushing for Bernie myself, but I could see the numbers. In the polls, yes, Bernie was in the "lead" but that's a lead of sometime 14 percent in a big field. But I looked at his support along with the support of the closest too him, Elisabeth Warren. She was the main candidate that was similar enough to Bernie that if one dropped out, the other would be most or all of the support. That was about 30%, if memory serves. That was his ceiling. As other candidates dropped out, their support would go to the more moderate candidates. And that's how it turned out, when Warren left, Bernie got most of her support. But everyone else's support went ultimately to Biden.
But Glenn had it in his heart that we are all socialists and communists, so he was sure that Bernie had seventy or eighty percent of the support of the Dems.
He didn't know what he was talking about, he looked at it with his heart, not his head.
I could go on, but I see no scenario where anyone would be voting for Romney. Trump has destroyed him.

A better would be why is brad dragging Romney? This thread about Justice Breyer Retiring and brad is seems to that Romney means something.

I remember watching the vote come in that night and I remember him winning because the Black Belt vote turned out for him. It was down to the wire and it makes sense that that region was what won, the one place if any in the country that understands the importance of voting like no other.gounion wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 7:51 pm After 2 decades involved in hard campaigns at many levels, I've had it burned into me that you HAVE to be realistic. So was I because I knew the campaign staff and was getting info day by day. The whole campaign was so well ran. Here’s a tidbit you make not know, but several weeks out, they knew they would win. Jones had some tv spots about the civil war that went over big, and he was several points up. But when the stuff about his trolling the high schools for chicks came out, Moore’s numbers went UP and the race tightened considerably, because it actually got him support. Such is Alabama.carmenjonze wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 8:54 pm I remember watching the vote come in that night and I remember him winning because the Black Belt vote turned out for him. Oh I remember that, too, because I followed that campaign very closely for personal interests but also some religious studies work I was doing.gounion wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 9:31 pm So was I because I knew the campaign staff and was getting info day by day. When it hit the news that he’s another Republican predator of teen girls, utterly no one I knew was surprised because that’s a foundational part of white Evangelical Christian nationalism. Ban trans people, brandish the 10 Commandments in the courthouse, grope the girls, date the 14 year olds, but get up in front of the cameras and call the queers the perverts.
And yes, karen gussies up her own girls to “marry up” to these degenerates, then runs to vote for them. Women supporting Roy Moore not concerned whether he dated teens - AL
Same thing just happened in Virginia with that Trump/DeCaskets wannabe, where these types voted 57% for Glenn Youngkin. Traditional family, forced heterosexuality, so-called religious liberty, banning books, banning entire religions...JoeMemphis and his slavery church are willing, happy marks for these demagogues. White conservatism is full of these predatory men and women. Then watch them tell you they're the world's moral superiors. :problem: Sam Lefthand thinks we must be civil to these perverts.Dee Owens, 75, who came to Montgomery from Mobile today to join Young for the press conference, said she would not be bothered to learn that Moore dated teenage girls in his early 30s.
"Not in the least because that's all right with me," Owens said. "When I was young I dated a gentleman that was 22 years older than me and my parents didn't have a problem with it. And mothers back then actually wanted their daughters to marry men that were older. They felt they would be taken care of."
Owens said Moore shares her beliefs and is willing to back them up.

Jackson has the best resume but I prefer Childs. I believe it would be nice to see a person in the court who wasn't part of the elite group with Ivy League backgrounds.Bludogdem wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 11:42 am https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-news/ ... index.html

Romney is to old to run again. Desantis is the man to watch. A Desantis/Scott or Desantis/Haley ticket would be far better than the two jokes currently occupying the WH

False. Biden undertook a massive vaccine rollout that was highly successful, in spite of the constant disinformation coming from the right. Biden rolled out a huge covid relief bill and a massive infrastructure bill, all in the first year of office. America saw the largest economic growth in 2021 in decades. The economy is booming and unemployment is low under Joe Biden. You truly are an easy victim of manipulation and radicalization by the RW media.
You want to talk jokes? Both DeSantis and Haley are complete Trump bootlickers. DeSantis is nothing but a continuation of Trump. What has he actually done for Florida outside of attacking vaccine science, health and education? Nothing. He's only there to pad his own pockets, steal, and push stock for himself and his owners. He even dresses like Trump and obviously spent a lot of time copying Trump's hand gestures and speaking patterns. Pathetic. What about Nikki Haley? What does she stand for? Every time she's on TV or blasting out stuff over social media, it's nothing but lies and distractions and she's another Pro Russian tool. RUSSIA IS NOT A FRIEND. When you say you're not a Trump supporter, it's a hilarious lie.
And BTW, I have a feeling DeSantis is tied to Matt Gaetz in some fashion. He certainly palled around with Gaetz, Greenberg and Roger Stone. Nice people you support.
So what is the Republican platform aside from being Pro Russia and Anti America? What are their policies? They don't have any. They take credit for things they don't want to pass and spend the rest of their time attacking with fear based lies and distractions. That's all they have. Fear and lies. But you vote for a brand and treat your party like a football team.

Wow. The Cons on this board are so shit scared of discussing of Mr. Biden's decision to honor a Campaign Campaign Promise and appoint an African-American Female to the United States Supreme Court.
They prove my point beautifully. Trying to decide who will run and the ticket.
The First African-American Female ever to be appointed the United States Supreme Court, they do not even want to discuss it.....
