It’s funny because green ass is actually correct, but is WAY too blazingly ignorant to understand why.

None of these stupid Heritage Foundation bills being passed in state after state have anything to do with actual critical race theory. Actual critical race theory does not teach any of these things being banned by these laws.

“Divisive concepts” is another one of their goalpost-moving/well-poisoning tactics to 1- hide what their relatives did and 2- deplete public education even further with frivolous lawsuits and other defunding measures.

Those three words are just the latest Emmanuel Goldstein/Two Minutes Hate of white-is-right Rightie. The passage of these laws by these geniuses is proving actual critical race theorists correct regarding the systemic effects of this country having legalized its legendary race problems. :problem:

In a letter, 133 Virginia school superintendents chided Youngkin’s education department over its audit that broadly scrapped diversity resources offered by the state. They said the report could “set public education Virginia back many years,” protested not being consulted.

That’s every sitting state superintendent in the state. “Division superintendents disagree with your using “equitable outcomes” as the basis for determining what divisive concepts are and unilaterally suggesting that this approach is discriminatory.”

Love of Country is not Blind Patriotism. It is not devotion to one person or one party. It is knowing fighting for your country is single most important thing you can do. Do not accept the notion violence is the answer.

Christopher Tackett
@cjtackett

So, Dr Glenn, should Granbury ISD have a diverse selection of books, including those that represent realities of the LGBTQ community, or sexual education, or just any type of acknowledgment of sex?
"There's no place for it in our libraries"
It's the quiet part out loud.

There isn't porn is public school libraries. That's what Texas Governor Abbott said he was going to prosecute people for. But public school librarians are trained professionals. They aren't stocking porn.

And will Granbury ISD be done with pulling books, now that they have done an initial review from the Krause list?
Nope. Start with the Krause list, "plus any that we think do not conform"

Yes then they will turn around and gaslight themselves that they are somehow open-minded supporters of gay marriage, gay rights, etc.

The Republican party does this sort of thing because of these extremists, who give it sanction.

The signing of Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill encapsulates all that’s foul about Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis’ reign. Autocracy. Disdain for differences. Personal profit over the public good — and more. With the country watching — and even international media covering the ambitious governor’s anti-gay slap and Florida’s general descent into fascism — DeSantis surrounded himself at the event with a group of preppy-uniformed, private-school-educated children.

[snip]

Not very bright of the DeSantis team. The law quashing classroom discussions related to sexual orientation and gender identity in kindergarten through third grade also inflicts a chilling effect on instruction for older kids. But the speech ban applies only to public schools.

Yet, there’s DeSantis shoving his straight-white-man discomfort down Floridians’ throats at a West Coast charter school. Classical Preparatory School was started in 2014 by the wife of DeSantis’ education commissioner, Richard Corcoran. He’s a former House Speaker who, along with other charter-school employees and owners turned lawmakers, constantly benefited private education to the detriment of public schools.

For this and being a yes-man, DeSantis rewarded him with the top education post, from where Corcoran has done nothing original for Floridians. He’s known only for acquiescing to DeSantis’ whims, whether those against COVID mask mandates for public schools or this “Parental Rights in Education” bill that violates free speech and discriminates against a sector of the population. In essence, the Legislature, education commissioner and governor are imposing private-school dogma, religious beliefs and the values of exclusion on public education.

Keeping future generations ignorant and unquestioning is the goal. It’s another move to weaken public education in Florida, constantly being diminished by content and funding decisions made by people running the government who also profit from public investment in private education initiatives. And the anti-gay law is also what Sen. Gary Farmer, a Fort Lauderdale Democrat, calls “DeSantis’ 4H agenda: hateful, harmful, hurtful and homophobic public policy.”

[snip]

The political intent is clear, not only of this law but of others the governor has signed or will sign, including the 15-week abortion ban and the ban on teaching critical race theory, which is a college-level course not taught at any Florida public school. DeSantis is growing his national profile using the same modus operandi as former President Trump did: Catering to the bigoted and to the extremist, religious right dissatisfied living in a world of diverse thought and ways of living. Autocracy, not bipartisanship, is their language, and DeSantis speaks it so well they’re convinced he’s the new political messiah.

And, if he happens to throw millions in public subsidies to their educational perspectives, all the better. Hurting Florida’s gay children doesn’t matter, unless they’re zygotes in a woman’s womb. Only the parents matter and their right to sue school districts, making money off a poorly paid teacher’s attempt to help a kid in need.

'Divisive concepts' school bill passes Senate a second time - WXIA

Because once wasn't enough? :?
The bill uses language like “divisive concepts” and “race or ethnic scapegoating” to curb the teaching of race relations -- and orders school boards to create a “complaint resolution policy” for parents if they don’t like what’s being taught.
The point is to open the door to as many frivolous lawsuits as possible, and silence ANY discussion of social matters that makes conservative white adults unhappy. It's not geared towards normal parents who already think public schools don't go nearly far enough. The idiot JoeMemphis and Glennfss of the country aren't talking about them when they prattle on about parent involvement and parent's rights.

And heaven forbid if a parent sit in a doctor's office discussing options for their transgender kid or if a teacher sez the word "gay." "What about the chillllldrennnn..." goes right out the window.

Good luck in court with these laws, confederates.

This is what the conservative assault on LGBTQ rights looks like for the 2020s. It's full speed ahead for the midterms; conservatives and their brutish lifestyle choice are desperately banking on it because picking on the socially-vulnerable is all they've got.

'I cannot teach in Florida': LGBTQ educators fear fallout from new school law - NBC News

Pro tip: California already went through this 40+ years ago with the Briggs Initiative.
Following the enactment of what critics call the “Don’t Say Gay” law, some LGBTQ teachers have quit the professional altogether.

Last month, a group of parents in Orlando, Florida, demanded “consequences” against sixth grade science teacher Robert Thollander. His crime? Thollander acknowledged his marriage at school.

“He married a man. This alone is not an issue.
Yes, it is.
Sharing the details … with all his 6th grade students is the issue,” the parents wrote in a letter sent to their children’s school board, which was shared with NBC News. “It was not appropriate. Many of these students felt very uncomfortable with the conversations and shared this with their families.”

Had Thollander just “said he will be out for a few days because he was getting married, no problem,” the letter continued, “but to discuss the details and create an uncomfortable situation for the students with no benefit to teaching his subject matter is inappropriate.”
These run-of-the-mill conservative whites like JoeMemphis and Glennfs intend to shove out gay people back into closets (good luck with that), and re-establish the hell of postwar USA Cold War whites-rule. Look how these people treat their own families, their own nonwhite family members, their own non-hetero and non-cis family members.

Then, look what they vote for.

I've told this story many times on these message boards for years, but even my proto-Evangelical parents were against the Briggs Initiative as public school teachers. They were against it for the wrong reasons, i.e., they felt that "gay" could be turned to "Christian" at any minute, but at least they took a moment to stop and think of the implications of institutionalized homophobia.

The Briggs initiative: A Scary Proposition

What today's undereducated, ignorant confederates and other conservatives still don't get is just how effective we are in defeating their cancel culture way of life.

Vishal P. Singh (they/he) 🦅
@VPS_Reports

@TuckerCarlson falsely accuses school teachers and transgender people of supporting grooming— but he shared a stage with Jurgen Matthesius. Jurgen was 24 when he married Leanne, who was only 17 (he was her first kiss). Plus, Jurgen worked for Hillsong, a pedophilia-linked church.

https://twitter.com/VPS_Reports/status/ ... 7135276036
__________

Hillsong, a white-Evangelical megachurch is back in the news with more perversion. :problem:

Exposing Hillsong: The Pedophile Church That Justin Bieber Made Famous - Daily Beast
The new documentary “Hillsong: A Megachurch Exposed” reveals how hipster pastor Carl Lentz’s affair was just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this house of sin.
Dirty bigots.
The “neo-Pentecostal” megachurch rose to prominence amid a wave of “charismatic” churches with a corporate focus and the rise of televangelism. We see notable faces like Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker along other white men shouting into a camera. Likewise, as much as the docuseries attempts to present certain aspects of Hillsong as anomalous, anyone who spent time in an evangelical, Baptist or Pentecostal church growing up (or is still a part of one) won’t be shocked to hear about the concept of “prosperity gospel” or the way contemporary-sounding music is utilized to lure young congregants—although, the profits Hillsong turns annually from their record label are much more shocking than your average church with a lively choir.

As the docuseries puts it, Hillsong and its business-minded, male leadership was always hell-bent on global expansion, with North America as a primary market. Enter Hillsong NYC, which began operating out of Irving Plaza in 2010 with lines wrapped around the street. This is where we’re formally introduced to Lentz, whose track record as a youth pastor at the equally dubious-sounding Wave Church in Virginia Beach prior to Hillsong is revealed by former members and provides some context for his infidelity and scrutinized views on abortion.

For the most part, Lentz is described as being a militant enforcer of purity culture during his tenure at Wave. A former female member vaguely discusses feeling controlled and “put in [her] place” as a woman under his guidance. Another reveals a time that she was shamed by him for having pre-marital sex, prompting her to marry her boyfriend of only three months. We also see a gross clip of him sharing some advice he learned from his father about women being formed by their fathers and how husbands have to “get in there early.” Basically, the premise of John Mayer’s “Daughters.”

The clips of Lentz’s preaching, both at Wave and Hillsong—which received significantly less circulation than the photos of his abs by non-churchgoers—are amusing to watch, considering how ineloquent, aggressive and unwelcoming he is onstage (not to mention the ridiculously tight clothing). Despite how often he’s framed as charming and magnetic throughout the doc, his stage presence resembles Tom Cruise in Magnolia.
Watching the 68-year-old co-founder maintain an unsettling smirk and relaxed demeanor as he discusses his father’s pedophilia to members of the Australian child abuse commission while describing the criticisms of Hillsong as an “assault” on a broadcast is equally infuriating and bone-chilling. The Houston family’s vile legacy and Brian’s Machiavellian tactics to protect the church’s profits feel deserving of their own documentary and will presumably be put under a larger microscope following his termination and ongoing criminal charges.
How come so many conservatives are perverts?

No: no it's not, solely.

The law says any instruction, even in grades 4-12, must be "age appropriate to state standards" (except uh, what those are, exactly is not clarified), and says any student talking to faculty or staff about questioning their gender or sexuality MUST be reported to parents, again, even in grades 4-12. (This is despite the fact that this could lead to parental abuse, expulsion, or worse.)

This seems to be the situation.

https://www.orlandoweekly.com/news/wint ... l-31357200

I'll admit his history teacher may not have liked that Larkins gave the presentation in a red dress with pearls, but I don't believe that violates any explicit school dress/uniform code.

He may also not like that he wrote an op-ed about the law in the NYT, or that his presentation was covered in WaPo, but all I see is what I expected: the law contributing to a "chilling" of student and teacher free expression.

So far, nothing has happened except him being moved to a different history class.
