Police: Man in custody after threatening to injure, kill people at Plymouth business
Police issued a shelter-in-place notice for some Plymouth residents Friday afternoon following a threat directed at an area business.
The issue has since been resolved and the shelter-in-place notice has been lifted. Police asked residents who live on or near the area of Karmada Street and Farmer Street to stay inside their homes.
Police were investigating the threat in the 600 block of Junction Street on Friday when they heard gunshots. The threats came in the form of email and were targeted toward a business in that block The threat was addressed to the owner and the city manager.
The suspect said he doesn’t believe the business is following zoning ordinances and is operating illegally, according to police. He said he felt he needed to take action to shut the business down and said he would use a shotgun and an AR-15. Police said he threatened to hurt and kill people.
While officers were at the business they said they heard three to four gunshots coming from the suspect’s residence on Karmada Street. Officers set up a perimeter and worked with the Plymouth Township and Canton Township police........

Court upholds NY attorney general's case against the NRA after the gun group claimed the lawsuit was politically biased
In a legal loss for the NRA and its newly re-elected leader, a Manhattan judge on Friday rejected the gun group's bid to quash a lawsuit that seeks to install an independent monitor and oust Wayne LaPierre from its helm.
The decision by New York State Supreme Court Justice Joel Cohen allows a lawsuit by New York Attorney General Letitia James to move forward by rejecting the NRA's claim that she pursued the gun group solely out of political bias.

A radio is a vital part of your tactical gear.In a phone interview with the Texas Tribune, Arredondo said he left two radios outside the school because he believed they would have slowed him down and that every second mattered.
One radio had a clip that may have fallen off his tactical belt, while another had an antenna that would have hit him as he ran, he told the Tribune.
However, the radios would have connected him to the campus and police networks, according to the outlet.
Arredondo said he also wanted both hands free to hold his gun so he could fire it more accurately.
Arredondo added that based on his prior experience, the radios didn't work well in some of the school buildings, and that he would have turned them off in the hallways to avoid being detected by the gunman.

A radio is a vital part of your tactical gear, and if you're a cop on an operation a voice-activated speaker-mike clipped to your collar is a vital part of your radio. Or hell, use a cell phone with a Bluetooth headset. Cops do that all the time.
That's a pretty lame excuse and not worthy of any cop with any decent training. It's clear that these guys just aren't very good cops.

Protesters pledge to fight for gun reform as long as necessary at DC rally
Thousands of protesters gathered on the National Mall Saturday to demonstrate against gun violence in a March for Our Lives rally, vowing to continue to push for gun reform as long as necessary to achieve progress.
The rally was one of more than 450 protests taking place around the country and the world in the aftermath of multiple high-profile mass shootings over the past month. Speakers at the Washington, D.C., rally called on political leaders to act on gun legislation to save lives and ensure these incidents become much less frequent.

Senate negotiators announce framework deal on bipartisan gun package
WASHINGTON — Key senators announced a framework agreement on new gun legislation Sunday, marking a breakthrough on a collection of measures to combat gun violence, including "red flag" laws and enhanced background checks on gun buyers.
The chief negotiators of the deal are Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., an outspoken proponent of gun safety laws, and Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, a firm Second Amendment advocate who has promised the new measures won’t affect the gun rights of law-abiding Americans. The final bill hasn't been written yet, sources familiar with the negotiations said.

Now ya got me wondering.
After checking a bit.
From what i've been told, not only is the radio a part of tactical gear.........Apparently your personal cell phone also links you into the loop and has become somewhat as vital as the radio.
So, he was without a radio. Did he have a cell phone? If he did, was it the right form of communication given the circumstance?
Instead of being in direct communication, i'd hate to think he was thumb flipping instead.

No cop worthy of the name goes into an active shooter situation without reliable instant communication on encrypted frequencies. That's fundamental. These guys weren't good cops.
Even the Russian soldiers in Ukraine who'd been indoctrinated that they'd be welcomed as liberators had $200 Chinese walkie-talkies and insecure cell phones on the enemy's system to supplement their badly designed military tactical radios made by the lowest bidding Chinese contractors with corrupt contracts diverting considerable investment to the oligarchs' offshore accounts.
The Proud Boys had a tactical comm system at the Capitol. I've read the details, and the transcripts of intercepted or decoded comms. Maybe they'll be discussed at one of the hearings to prove they came ready for war, which they did, in a full order of battle with contingencies and marching orders.
No one in their right mind shows up at a mass shooting without tested and working radios. This is craziness of a sort only Americans seem capable of dismissing.

I remember this show from the 70s or 80s where this guy he would say Boss, the framework the framework is here or was it the plane the plane oh yea it was the plane.
A bi-parisan framwork a bi-partisan framework a bi-partisan framework what does that mean aside from that nothing will fundamentally change for kids who have to accommodate mass shooters in their schools because mass shooters are accommodated by weapons of war being legally and easily available for purchase in the United States?
also accommodated by the congress senate and president by using terms like bi partisan framework to hide the option of fundamentally changing the thing that most endangers them easy legal access to weapons of war. What a terrible and horrid meaning that term a bi-partisan framework takes on YUK

Agreed that a "bi-partisan framework" sounds good at election time, but it's only another way of saying, "We're working on it, now stop bothering us." Fancy names for token save-face measures won't provide the social change needed to stop loonies, incels, racists, and other various fringes from amassing arsenals good only for mass murder.

Ohio Gov. signs law to have teachers carry firearms in classrooms with 24 hours of training
No safe place in a school that a teacher could fire a gun without endangering children other teachers or staff. Then there is what could happen if its wrestled away or misplaced or left lying around. The court ruled in a 4-3 decision that Ohio Revised Code required anyone authorized to carry a gun on school grounds to have 20 years of experience or peace officer training. DeWine argued the ruling made firearm training unmanageable for school districts that wanted to permit it.
But some law enforcement disagreed.
"I think it’s a horrible idea to arm our teachers," Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant said. "There’s a lot of training that’s involved in that. It's naïve to believe that is something we can put on them and expect them to respond to from a law enforcement perspective."...

Smith was charged with capital murder in the shooting at St. Stephen’s Church on Friday. Police said Smith came to a small group event at the church — a senior potluck — and opened fire, killing three: Bart Rainey, Sarah Yeager and Jane Pounds.
Smith’s home in Vestavia Hills is registered with the ATF as the primary address for Original Magazines 2, a business with a federal firearms license. The license is valid until 2025, according to ATF records.
