We have documented evidence of Asian-Americans being attacked in this country, by people claiming they are responsible (somehow solely) for the spread of what Trump called the China Virus or Kung Flu.
I'm less offended by the silly name, then to the awful suffering it unleashed in the real world.

Millions of people are DEAD from covid, but you're butthurt over a thread title from two weeks ago. :problem:
This is from last year. More Than 9,000 Anti-Asian Incidents Have Been Reported Since The Pandemic Began - NPR
A year later, nothing has changed. COVID-19 Has Driven Racism And Violence Against Asian Americans: Perspectives From 12 National Polls - Health Affairs
A year later, the kingmaker of your party is still throwing around terms like "China Virus" to this day.
If you actually knew anyone of Asian descent, you MIGHT have a chance of understanding what the legacy of this kind of ethnic scapegoating has to do with it. Much of it started in mid-1800s/early 1900s San Francisco.
You would have loved it here. It was full of dumb, violent conservative whites like you.
So yes, true to form, do keep whining because I made a thread entitled "Ralph Norman Was at KlanPAC" while hundreds of thousands of people have died in this country due to white-conservative antivaxxer policies, and as anti-Asian violence is on the rise due to racist epithets like "China Virus."
This is how white-consersvative snowflakery and pearl-clutching works, the kind that gets kids like Emmitt Till found at the bottom of the river.

Words can kill, and Trump over and over again was told, including by others in his own party, to stop calling the virus that.
He didn't. Again, as I said, I'm not offended so much by the words, as I am by the documented rise in attacks on Asian people during COVID, & the attackers who echoed this same name for the virus when asked why they did what they did.
And that Donald Trump is STILL calling the virus that in 2022, because sociopathically, he still doesn't care.

Panel: Trump staffers pushed unproven COVID treatment at FDA
https://apnews.com/article/hydroxychlor ... 54680d6004
WASHINGTON (AP) — Officials in the Trump White House tried to pressure U.S. health experts into reauthorizing a discredited COVID-19 treatment, according to a congressional investigation that provides new evidence of that administration’s efforts to override Food and Drug Administration decisions early in the pandemic.
The report Wednesday by the Democratic-led House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis also sheds new light on the role that television personalities played in bringing hydroxychloroquine to the attention of top White House officials. Investigators highlighted an email from Fox News’ Laura Ingraham and others from Dr. Mehmet Oz, the celebrity heart surgeon who had a daytime TV show and is now the Republican Senate nominee in Pennsylvania. Ingraham attended an Oval Office meeting with President Donald Trump, who himself took the anti-malaria drug.
The FDA originally authorized use of hydroxychloroquine in late March 2020 based on small studies suggesting it could have some effectiveness against the coronavirus. At that time, many researchers hoped that existing antiviral drugs could be used to fight the virus. But by June, FDA officials had concluded the drug was likely ineffective and could cause potentially dangerous heart complications, revoking its emergency use.
Efforts by the Trump administration to control the release of COVID-19 guidance and install political operatives at public health agencies have been well documented.
[snip]
But Hahn told investigators that he felt pressure due to the “persistence” of Trump aide Peter Navarro’s calls to reauthorize hydroxychloroquine after the FDA’s decision to pull its emergency use.
[snip]
“Dr. Hatfill and Mr. Navarro devised multiple pressure schemes targeting FDA and federal officials who they contended were wrongly impeding widespread access to hydroxychloroquine,” according to the report.
[snip]
As previously reported, the White House objected to an FDA requirement that vaccine makers gather two months of safety data before filing their applications, contending that condition would delay the launch of the shots. Trump had repeatedly stated the shots would be authorized before Election Day, despite government scientists signaling that timeline was unlikely.
[snip][end]
Pushing pseudoscientific therapies like HCQ, trying to cut corners on safety trials for political rather than medical reasons ... this is why I didn't trust what was coming out of Trumplandia.

In typical Trumpian fashion, he would later say that when he told people to drink bleach, or my other favorite, put UV bulbs up their arse, "he was just kidding". That was his constant "get out of awful" free card.
I of course doubt it, but even IF it were true, it's not like everybody who went to the hospital or the morgue before he cheerily said he was joking would magically revive.

Sotomayor denies NYPD detective's plea to block vaccine mandate
NEW YORK CITY -- U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor on Monday denied an appeal from a New York Police Department detective who asked for an emergency injunction to keep the city from firing him over its mandate that municipal employees be vaccinated against the coronavirus.
Detective Anthony Marciano has a lawsuit pending against the city in a federal appeals court, and his attorneys last week had petitioned Sotomayor, who oversees emergency appeals from New York and some other states, for the injunction while the case is being resolved.

Florida leads nation in COVID deaths even as cases continue to decline
https://www.palmbeachpost.com/story/new ... 904033001/
For the third month in a row, Florida logged more COVID-19 deaths than anywhere else in America.
The state’s COVID death toll grew by 1,614 people in August, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data shows. As coronavirus omicron subvariants swept the state this summer, Florida fatalities topped the nation from June through August.
It’s also the third summer in a row Florida has been No. 1 for COVID deaths.
The state became the national epicenter for the disease in August 2020, after Gov. Ron DeSantis began allowing businesses and public places to reopen. The state again became the COVID fatality capital of America last year in July and August, months after state officials suspended all remaining pandemic restrictions.
The disease has killed at least 80,027 Floridians since the start of the pandemic, excluding more than 3,000 victims whom state auditors found by combing through records from 2020 in which physicians classified someone's cause of death as COVID, but the state Health Department did not.
[snip]
That’s because federal money to pay for shots dried up in April when Republican senators blocked a $10 billion COVID bill using the legislative procedure known as the filibuster. That requires 60 votes to overcome, but 52 senators, including Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, voted against ending a filibuster.

Yes it is. I didn’t say it was “the” state. I said it was “a” state with an older population. By your post it’s second, so it’s clearly a state with and older population. Factor in that Florida is a less healthy state than California and you’re gonna get get some high death numbers, sometimes the highest. Given that “ For deaths with conditions or causes in addition to COVID-19, on average, there were 4.0 additional conditions or causes per death” an older less healthy population is going to be a leader in Covid deaths.ProfX wrote: ↑Mon Sep 05, 2022 10:13 am No, it isn't. I went to my doctor last Friday for a checkup (came through with flying colors) and spoke with my doctor a lot about COVID. First, I do have several at-home tests. She says if I or my wife come down with symptoms and test positive, to immediately contact the office, and she'll do a remote visit and prescribe Paxlovid, she says it's extremely effective.
Also, we talked about the new vax out - she told me to wait for a couple of weeks, and contact her. She's wanting to see some of the data before recommending it. She's very happy my wife and I are 4X vaxed so far.
So I'll wait to speak with her again before getting the new vax.

Not sure why your doc is saying that, everything I read says all systems go. I guess caution is important.
