I do not assign value to humans. In the immortal words of whoever, "We're all the same baked bean."

I do take off points for things like death threats, deliberate lying about history, and calls for racial or political violence. Those points are deducted from a person's contribution in a society based on a social contract, not from their personal worth.

The personas on an anonymous board like this one are not true people, they are representations crafted by the individual users. I don't generalize from these except when they say something really stupid in my personal opinion, thus requiring that I virtually laugh in their virtual face.

Ignorance may be our culture's #1 problem right now. We created a communications system that globalized thought, but there was no way to implement a fact check. Every crazy idea looks as credible as the good ones in cold print like this, and we have to develop the critical faculty to tell the difference.

These elitist cons only do this thanks to their eugenicist backgrounds.

People still truly believe in that trash.

Speaking only for myself, I do not think Internet or media literacy is dead, and I teach it, I sometimes even discuss it here.

The means to tell the difference is out there; the problem is the user needs to access those resources. Snopes, Politifact, Factcheck, etc., etc. And on many basic questions, Wikipedia is also just fine. But, they will not seek out you.

Nuff said.

Except, no one in this thread was criticizing Glenn's profession. And by posting this, you are treating Glenn like a moron. And, you have NO clue what other people here do. You sound like a bitter starched up sock who is butt hurt because he gets constantly owned.

So which of the many people who run this sock account posted this last night?

I doubt that a lot of people seek out the facts. They never did in other media. It's human nature to give a pass to things that reinforce what they already believe. The problem comes when internal dialogues drift off into never never land. You wind up with Qanon and the Proud Boys.

Especially Hartmann as much as you guys hate to hear it Hartmann is definitely a socialist if not worse. He likes to brag about having been a member of socialist groups in the 60s. Students for a democratic society.

Obeidallah on the other hand has much more compelling information and arguments presented in a way that is often hard to disagree with.
NPR. & BBC are on satellite radio. Change things up on occasion and give a listen. NPR has two one hour shows in the morning called 1A. Interesting stuff.

Sirius Progress also appears to have John Fugelsang and Stephanie Miller.

https://www.siriusxm.com/channels/siriusxm-progress

Also Zerlina Maxwell, and Mich Signorile. Excellent lineup. I approve.

I will always have some fondness in my heart for Steffie Miller. She gave me a hug at Books & Books in Coral Gables. :D

Oh and one more thing. SDS was re-formed in 2006, but is still not a socialist organization. :D

I listen to Fugelsang when I drive overnight on rebroadcast. He seems to be a nice guy but his political views are way out there.
As for the SDS in the 60s it was an offshoot of a socialist organization.

Brittanica says:

https://www.britannica.com/topic/Studen ... ic-Society

SDS, founded in 1959, had its origins in the student branch of the League for Industrial Democracy, a social democratic educational organization.

[snip][end]

It may have been an offshoot of SLID, but I've read the Port Huron statement, which is the organization's own manifesto. It does not advocate for socialism. It calls for more participatory democracy, reforms of the Democratic Party, support of civil rights, and greater student/university activism.

White grievance. Board con, not just you know who, all of them including the one who pretends to be a dem, are white males who are full of grievance that their white skin does not afford them carte blanche, anymore. Almost carte blanche it still provides, but now that others are gaining rights and equality, they are furious.
I sigh in your general direction.

Bravissima. Allow me to also praise those who transport freight across our fruited plain in trains, planes, and river boats. May only be 30% but surely we should not overlook them as well.

Also, allow me to note, it will become an increasingly automated industry. We can debate how fast, but it's already happening.
https://extramiletx.com/what-is-truckin ... -industry/

Probably won't affect glenn, but younguns getting into trucking should at least keep that in mind.

Anyway, I can salute our nation's truckers, can't dispute it's pretty necessary to the transportation of goods, thank you Eisenhower and the Interstate Highway System that makes it possible, I just neither think they are more or less valuable than other humans in our society. YMMV.

Oh fuck yes, without trucks and trains we be totally fucked.

But without heart surgeons, engineers, dentists, I could go on.

Randi Rhodes was a trucker. 8-)

Leave it to a con to say that he and then the other con here who kissed his ass, are special because they do their job. I did my job too, in several cases it allowed for a family which lost everything to get a new house. But I dont need to be saluted for that.

Having said that if you are a trucker and a safe one, then I applaud that. Unless you then turn around and vote for people who will let the road you drive on to deteriorate to the point we all suffer.

Yes, IKE was a republican and they dont exist anymore.
I sigh in your general direction.

Oh yes, without our interstate highway system, truckers couldn't get far.

Salutations to those who voted for it, AND the workers who built it.

(For now, I won't get into the racist way it upended many peoples' lives in neighborhoods it bisected; we can get to that later.)

I'd say the people that build the trucks are just as important - without them there wouldn't BE any trucks.

You know the one group that ISN'T required to drive the economy? The CEOs. Yet they are the ones who get the most money. Leeches all.

Yes, the corp model is so perverse it is amazing.

We could do away with corps, very easily. Would dramatically improve the lives of normal Americans.

Pointless post.

Nobody is putting down truck drivers, or Glennfs for being one, and no one ever should.

What are you so defensive about, guy who incessantly brags about all your supposed degrees? :problem:
