I'll post this here to see what happens one year from now.

Trump Invents an Alternate 2017 Election History, Predicts GOP Win in 2018

In the wake of statewide losses in Virginia and Alabama this autumn, most Republicans are battening down the hatches for a difficult 2018 midterm election next November, which is what anyone familiar with political history would expect anyway (with the exception of a few elections involving presidents with sky-high approval ratings, the party controlling the White House always loses ground in midterms).

Trump took the opportunity of applause from the crowd to mouth the words “Thank you” and then grasped his water glass with two hands, hunched over, to take a sip. The small water glass that didn't appear to weigh much seemed to cause the president some difficulty.

This sent Twitter into a screen-grabbing tizzy and the tweets started pouring in.

Guatemala to move embassy to Jerusalem, backing Trump

Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales said on Sunday he had given instructions to move the Central American country's embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, a few days after his government backed the United States in a row over the city's status.

Trump Promised to Protect Steel. Layoffs Are Coming Instead.
At this sprawling steel mill on the outskirts of Philadelphia, the workers have one number in mind. Not how many tons of steel roll off the line, or how many hours they work, but where they fall on the plant’s seniority list.

In September, ArcelorMittal, which owns the mill, announced that it would lay off 150 of the plant’s 207 workers next year. While the cuts will start with the most junior employees, they will go so deep that even workers with decades of experience will be cast out.

“I told my son, ‘Christmas is going to be kind of scarce, because Mommy’s going to lose her job soon,’” said Kimberly Allen, a steelworker and single parent who has worked at the plant for more than 22 years. On the seniority list, she’s 72nd.

The layoffs have stunned these steelworkers who, just a year ago, greeted President Trump’s election as a new dawn for their industry. Mr. Trump pledged to build roads and bridges, strengthen “Buy America” provisions, protect factories from unfair imports and revive industry, especially steel.

But after a year in office, Mr. Trump has not enacted these policies. And when it comes to steel, his failure to follow through on a promise has had unintended consequences.............

White House looks to make internal changes amid worries of a tough year ahead

PALM BEACH, Fla. — While President Trump has largely spent the past week alone at his Mar-a-Lago Club — golfing, tweeting, relaxing with family and talking to old friends — White House officials have been in quiet talks about revamping the West Wing operation, and filling open posts, ahead of what could be a politically difficult 2018.

Report: Trump DC Hotel employee wrote in email that Trump ‘is definitely still involved’ in Trump Org.
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing- ... t-trump-is" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

An email sent by the director of revenue management at Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C. suggests that President Trump is still involved in the management of the Trump Organization despite claims he has divested himself of his business interests, according to a new report by The Daily Beast.

The Daily Beast reports it obtained the email from director of revenue management Jeng Chi Hung to an acquaintance. In the email, Hung writes that Trump is "supposed to be out of the business and passed on to his sons, but he's definitely involved."

"I had a brief meeting with him a few weeks ago, and he was asking about banquet revenues and demographics. And, he asked if his presidency hurt the businesses. So, he seems self aware about things, at least more than he lets on," Hung wrote in the email.

[snip]

Upon entering the presidency, Trump handed over control of his businesses to his sons Donald Trump Jr., and Eric Trump in order to prevent possible conflicts of interest with foreign governments as prohibited in the "Emoluments Clause" of the Constitution.

Trump has faced a series of lawsuits over his alleged gains from foreign governments through his businesses since taking office, which have also said that the businesses have benefited unfairly from Trump being elected president.

William Barber II: Trump’s Terrible Choice for Judge

Among President Trump’s worrisome nominees to the judiciary, perhaps none is as alarming as Thomas Alvin Farr, a protégé of Jesse Helms, the former North Carolina senator, and a product of the modern white supremacist machine that Mr. Helms pioneered.

Mr. Farr, nominated to serve on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, began his career as counsel for Mr. Helms’s Senate campaigns, where he participated in racist tactics to intimidate African-American voters. This alone is reason to reject his nomination, as is his apparent lying on the topic to the Senate Judiciary Committee. But Mr. Farr’s connections to Mr. Helms’s white supremacist causes and political network go much deeper.

Having lived in North Carolina since childhood, I know Mr. Helms’s racist legacy and I hold no doubts that Mr. Farr perpetuates it. An unabashed segregationist, Mr. Helms was affiliated with the Council of Conservative Citizens, an outgrowth of the White Citizens’ Councils that promoted white supremacy. Mr. Helms, who served in the Senate for 30 years, used his honorable seat to support the apartheid regime in South Africa while opposing desegregation, civil rights legislation and the creation of the Martin Luther King’s Birthday holiday in this country. Mr. Helms also belittled Carol Moseley Braun, the only black senator at the time, by singing “Dixie” to her in the Senate elevator...........

This is an odd ball report. It doesn't fit.

3 injured in ‘routine’ Trump Tower fire, New York officials say

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/pos ... b015fe17d4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
“The fire wasn’t in the building, it was on top of the building,” the fire department said on Twitter. “We had flames coming out of the vents, no smoke condition or fire was on the inside.”

Fire officials said they received an emergency call just before 7 a.m. About 75 minutes later, the fire department tweeted an alert, saying the fire, which was located inside a cooling tower, was “under control.”

“There was a small electrical fire in a cooling tower on the roof of Trump Tower,” the Trump Organization said in an emailed statement to The Washington Post.
There's a 46 second video at the top of the story. The amount of smoke billowing looked like what would come from a ‘routine’ house fire. Not what would come from a cooling tower. This doesn't fit.

I've installed cooling towers on top of buildings of that size and have maintained them. There is very little to burn, they're made of steel, and filled with water, there's a poly plastic thing at the top the water is sprayed on which we call an egg crate. it's usually too moss and alga covered to burn. There's a big PVC pipe with big sprinkler heads in there.

Other than that it's a steel thing in a steel clad surrounding with two electric motors. A building that size would have about a 50 HP blower motor, and a 10 to 15 HP water pump motor. There might be an additional 10 to 15 HP water pump motor as well. And start gear to make then all go, and fuses to blow. Sure a motor starter or motor could burnout and smoke a bit for a few minutes, but it wouldn't be all of them burning and the amount of smoke they would expel wouldn't look like a house on fire. The burning and smoke they released would be over before a fire department with street full of engines and news crew would arrive. And that's what I saw on that video.

Something other than a cooling tower was on fire there.

A cooling tower will often billow off a lot of white steam in the early morning when the day begins and someone seeing it will call a fire department, but those aren't fires. The cloud is white and it dissipates a few yards away. It's not brown and being blown for a coupe of blocks like what I saw happening in the video.

There have been a lot of times fire departments have been called to buildings in the early morning over ‘routine’ cooling tower operation. And sometimes they do get in the news. Perhaps that is where the seed for calling this a cooling tower fire came from, it sounds ‘routine’.

Something burned and someone doesn't want to talk about it.

im sure the junk food industry supports groper, and, is happy tonite.

we are being told by a 'navy doctor' that this pantload of bigmacs is "healthy".
that sucking up a dozen diet cokes a day for a 71yr old male is 'ok'.
that doing the above and not exercising at all...creates a perfectly healthy white male.
no cholesterol issues no diabetes, nope not for this junk food dieter.

oh. ok. now all the nazis out there can eat shit and die. literally.

meanwhile, back in reality based world...all doctors and all patients are told to avoid bigmacs etc let
alone eating them as a main diet and all day long into the night, and to stop drinking all that awful chemical soda.
...and no water.

but somehow...its ok for our pale resident of the WH.
all is well: he can eat the diet that ALL other mericans are encouraged to avoid.
makes perfect sense.

Tourism booming in Cuba despite tougher new Trump policy

HAVANA (AP) — On a sweltering early summer afternoon in Miami's Little Havana, President Donald Trump told a cheering Cuban-American crowd that he was rolling back some of Barack Obama's opening to Cuba in order to starve the island's military-run economy of U.S. tourism dollars and ratchet up pressure for regime change.

Billy Graham's granddaughter: Donald Trump needs to apologize
Billy Graham's granddaughter says Donald Trump needs to apologize.

"In order to forgive somebody, that individual needs to repent and apologize. And I don't think America has seen that from our President in any scenario," said Jerushah Armfield on CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFront."

The comments came Friday evening, as the American evangelist's granddaughter joined CNN's Jim Sciutto for a live conversation that quickly touched upon the syntax surrounding Trump's alleged comments describing Haiti and other nations as "sh--hole" countries.

"I think a lot of times people seem to be focusing on the language that he used, which really wasn't the issue," said Armfield. She referred to other evangelical Christians -- including her uncle Franklin Graham, who defended Trump's language in a CNN interview earlier this week -- and it's her feeling that word choice was not Trump's biggest error.

"I think it was the context of what he said, around the language that he used," she noted, adding "I think it was the disheartening, dehumanizing comments that were said around the word."

Armfield said she wishes that, as it pertains to President Trump, others could separate politics from character.

"I understand a lot of evangelicals supporting him because of his policies," she said. "I'd love to see a Christian leader come out and say that they support Trump for his policies, but that his behavior disgusts them, and he needs to clean up his act."...............
his policies are all disheartening and dehumanizing though, that they are rooted in supremecy or differential treatment I think is where the attraction comes in for some christian evangelicals.
