California Venture Capitalist Tim Draper is at it again, he has been circulating a petition that is approved by the California Secretary of State would be approved for the November that would split California into three separate states.
https://www.sfgate.com/news/article/spl ... 830724.php.
Mr. Draper's last attempt to split California 6-Ways failed.
Previous attempts to split California into 2-States have also failed.
This is seen as more of an attempt to reduce the influence of the Democratic Party in California, which has strong majorities in the State Assembly and State Senate. The California Republican Party is all but dead with less than 25% of California Voters identifying as Republican.
The petition circulated by Draper gathered
600,000 signatures, but a total of
365,880 valid signatures are need to put the measure on the ballot.
Attempts to split California surface from time to time and do not succeed. California has the sixth largest economy (equal to France) world wide.
Southern California Republicans have long chaffed at their minority status and with the November Election in just little over 200-Days away they continue to grasp at straws as challengers to Conservative Representatives like Dana Rohrabacher and Tom McClintock gather strength. Representative Darrell Issa has announced he is NOT running for another term, but is making noise about running in another district.
The announcement by House Speaker Paul Ryan that he will not seek another term in the Congress is seen as a signal that Republicans could be willing to cede their majority in the House of Representatives while concentrating on keeping control of the U.S. Senate.
I never personally saw the petition being circulated and would not have signed it anyway.
Sometimes the desperation of the Republicans in California is truly amazing.
