http://www.dodgersnation.com/dodgers-an ... 018/05/01/Here's the summary:
The L.A. Dodgers made an exclusive TV deal with Spectrum (Nee Time-Warner Cable) to show all games live. Everyone else who wanted to run them had to contract with Spectrum. Nobody did, because of a complex mess involving an attempt to bust the old practice of bundling cable channels. Nobody wanted to do that.
In practice, this meant nobody saw Dodger games live unless they had Spectrum, and paid a bundle for them.
We pay a bundle. Also, they raise it whenever they feel like it. Pretty much monthly. (Then they brag that Spectrum doesn't make you enter into a contract, even though they're the ones benefiting.)
It's a LOT of money.
Now the Dodgers have moved a game to Facebook. Yes., THAT Facebook. Cambridge Analytica Facebook. Data mining Facebook. Proto-fascist Facebook. The same one that was of so much song and story a couple of weeks back in DC.
It's blacked out on everything else. It is NOT on Spectrum cable. It was, but now it isn't, even though we pay to see all Dodger games live.
They say it's some kind of agreement that the league made, and that we will be really excited to see a game that doesn't require adherence to the contract we were all forced to enter into.
I'm not excited. I'm pissed. I have seen the future, and it is very depressing.
