Supreme Court Rejects TFG's Request to Keep Tax Records from Congress

Post by Number6 »

TFG has tried to keep his tax records from Congress using the courts as a delaying action. His final appeal to the Supreme Court had been rejected by the Supreme Court so now the Treasury Department can turnover TFG's tax records.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday denied former president Donald Trump’s efforts to block the release of his tax records to a congressional committee that has sought the information for years.

The court’s order means that the Treasury Department may quickly hand over six years of tax records from Trump and some of his companies to the House Ways and Means Committee.

There were no recorded dissents in the court’s order.

Lawmakers have said they need Trump’s tax returns from his time in office to help evaluate the effectiveness of annual presidential audits. Trump has argued that Democratic lawmakers are on a fishing expedition designed to embarrass him politically.

Time is not on the side of Democrats who run the committee. The demands for the records will almost surely expire in January, when Republicans take control of the House as a result of the recent midterm elections.

“Delaying Treasury from providing the requested tax information would leave the Committee and Congress as a whole little or no time to complete their legislative work during this Congress, which is quickly approaching its end,” House general counsel Douglas N. Letter said in a filing to the court.

I have no doubt when the republicans take control of the House they'll do whatever they need to do to remove the tax records from the House's official records.

“ The justices denied Trump’s Oct. 31 emergency application to block a lower court’s ruling that upheld the Ways and Means Committee’s request for his tax records as a justified part of the panel’s legislative work. No justice publicly dissented from the decision.

This might be an effective way for repubs to cast him aside. He’s been steadily loosing support.

They're still afraid of him and will do whatever they have to to keep his tax records from Congress. The House reconvenes next week so the Democrats will have to act fast to get them. From listening to the news, Congress has the right to request any taxpayer's tax records but they can't release those records to the public. If this is true then I think what the Democrats will do is propose legislation based on TFG's tax records to try to prevent anyone else who is president from doing anything that TFG's tax records may show wrongdoing.

Dissent wasn't public, since they didn't do a regular vote. Alito and Thomas let it go since they weren't gonna win the vote.

And the GOP can't quit Trump.

So will it take days or hours for the committee to leak his tax records.

Why don't we wait and see? Of course, if they don't, you won't admit you were wrong.

I don't think they will do anything illegal.

One big difference between the Dems and the GOP is that the Dems are responsible and professional elected officials.

Unlike your side, like MTG, who has been promised plum Committee assignments, who brags about being "pureblood". Yes, this woman will be on the House Oversight Committee.

The GOP and Trump are the ones who leak.

Notice he’s defending Trump again. He doesn’t care that Trump once claimed he’d release his returns after a fictitious audit then fought for years trying to keep them a secret. Or that Trump is being investigated for multiple crimes including tax fraud etc. He just starts attacking dems and defends Trump.
