This is a tweet from a real member of congress, not an SNL bit.

Congressman Ben Cline @RepBenCline

First, they went after your gas stoves.

Now, they’re coming after your washing machines.

Real America rejects this appalling appliance authoritarianism.

Killing liberals isn’t a joke to conservatives. MTG says next time they’ll be bringing guns.

Ladies & Gentlemen The MAGA House.

Fireworks erupt at House gun law hearing as father of slain Parkland victim arrested

WASHINGTON — Manuel Oliver, the father of a 17-year-old Parkland shooting victim, was arrested Thursday on Capitol Hill after he appeared to shout at a Republican lawmaker who was speaking during a hearing on gun regulations.

Rep. Maxwell Alejandro Frost, D-Fla., a 26-year-old freshman who is also a survivor of gun violence, tweeted a video of officers detaining a man he identified as Oliver.

This is an actual member of congress. It's not the House's job to constantly make angry fascist threats and go after people, 24/7. But this is the House GOP. And just like the Nazis, this idiot always seems to be amped up on something. He was snorting cocaine, or Adderall, or something else on the House floor last week.

Another strong example of that “reasonable” government the local clowns talk about.

I’m putting this here because Trump owns the GOP House. But it also fits in the dystopian thread.

I don’t know what’d you call this but this sounds like actual communism. Rounding people up, putting them in jail then sending them to government paid camps.

Which isn’t a surprise since Trump loves Xi, Kim and KGB agent Putin.

You cons must be proud that you support this. Like I said, there is no bottom. It doesn’t matter what this party continues to morph into. You will follow along.

Ron Filipkowski 🇺🇦

@RonFilipkowski
Trump says he will outlaw homelessness and arrest everyone who refuses to comply. He will then give them the option to get out of jail to be relocated to new tent cities elsewhere where he will take care of their needs.

There is a huge homeless problem. And there are significant mental health issues, but the solution is better care services, not rounding people up, jailing them then sending them to re-education camps. That’s straight out of China or NoKo.

Who does Trump think he is FDR.
Which I believe was the last president to round people uo and put them.in concentration camps.
It was wrong then and is wrong now. As well as being a great example of why we as a nation cannot afford Trump in the WH

The Japanese internment is an indelible stain on this country, as if it needed any more, but at least the old excuse, "There's a war on, you know," has a tiny core of relevance here. The SW US was in a state of panic, especially after a Japanese sub managed to sneak through and shell an oil pier north of Santa Barbara.

By early 1942, most people expected a massive Japanese invasion of the West Coast, leading to a mass hysteria sort of situation that also included the infamous "Battle of Los Angeles" a couple of months after Pearl Harbor. Like most events in Los Angeles, it was much ado about nothing. Many properties were damaged by falling ordnance aka "friendly fire" when some kind of supposed radar contact that can't be explained rationally caused a massive anti-aircraft response to a nonexistent threat. A few people were injured in the resulting panic.

This sorry incident is what Spielberg attempted to satirize (unsuccessfully) in probably the worst performance Belushi ever gave. There's still a good movie story in there somewhere, but that wasn't it.

The government did contribute to the panic, putting cartoonists like "Dr. Seuss" to work producing racist propaganda that inflamed the situation further. A directive came down from the highest level that Japanese and Germans were to be depicted in the most racist manner possible, a real Aunt Jemima job, and one that was ordered from the highest authority. It was hardly all the president's fault, though. Not like January 6, which was 100% the president's fault.

This sort of thing is another reason why war is best left as a last resort. Once it starts, it can't be controlled, and nobody wins.

No one should have been placed into camps - but that was WW2 and a long, long time ago. No one here was around then, that I know of. And no liberal here, that I know of, supports that. And that's not an equivalence to rounding up homeless people and jailing then placing them in camps because they bother you. In WW2 we were dealing with, well, a world war and a planned invasion. But in typical stupid fashion, clown's gotta attempt to both sides it to make himself feel better about supporting Trump.

And yes, he does. The cons on this board are Trumpers. They support Trump because they support the GOP House who are beholden to Trump. They support Trump because they want to vote in Ron Desantis, who is the same thing in a different shell.

Currently, Trump is the leader of the republican party. He is the leader of the GOP House. They do his bidding. They want him back in the WH. He's a criminal who has been indicted and he's under serious investigation. These things he says, like putting people into camps and firing people from the Federal government who don't agree with his brand of "conservativism," are beyond alarming. Way beyond alarming. That's a straight up, blatant example of authoritarianism.

Trump idolizes depots world leaders. He's said so, over and over again. He's on record admiring President Xi of China for putting people into camps.

But yah, let's ignore, deny, defend, deflect and project for Trump.

The drumpfoids haven't learned from WWII, and for the most part they weren't around for it and don't know anything about it. They don't know what a real war looks, feels, and smells like, and the chaos it leaves behind. It's all fantasy.

The movie you referenced is 1941 and it had a lot of well-known names in it. Belushi basically replayed his character of Bluto from Animal House but this time as an crazy Army pilot. The movie is fun and funny.
At that time, the nation was very racist and that racism was reflected in its attitude towards Asians, particularly Japanese. The government used this racism to heighten fear to unite the country against Japan. Notice, while we were at war with Germany and Italy there weren't any concentration camps holding those of German or Italian ancestry. Part of the reason for that might be there were too many of German and Italian ancestry for the government to lock up.
This sort of thing is another reason why war is best left as a last resort. Once it starts, it can't be controlled, and nobody wins.
Issac Asimov wrote one of the truest lines in his Foundation novels when he wrote "Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent." All war or any violence does is to attempt to impose the will of one party upon another party. And while history will record which side of a war won history rarely tells of the real price of war upon the combatants, their countries, and their peoples.
When you vote left, you vote right.

BoBo posted this today. This is an actual person in congress. A person who Kevin McCarthy placed on committees. The mentality of a 12 year old. She almost lost her seat for this sort of of behavior, but she’s too stupid to get that. This is today’s GOP.
