This father and daughter are exercising their constitutional rights. Good to see and to know that the democratic party has yet been successful in taking the right to keep and bear away from us.

Do you REALLY think it's a good idea to allow such weapons - or any weapons at all - at protests? Really?Glennfs wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 9:41 am https://nypost.com/2021/11/21/armed-fat ... rotesters/

Or do you just WANT to see a massacre?
Re: Father and Daughter exercising their rights
Good to see if you’re into a militant, dystopian society. Having people heavily armed with guns in the streets doesn’t make other people feel safe or free.

Somebody set the stopwatch for how long it takes conservative whites to suddenly start baying for gun control.

That’s exactly what they want, which is why they’re vindicated by the Rittenhouse verdict.
Conservative whites have been itching to kill protesters since the Bonus Army. That increased tenfold by the time Civil Rights, antiwar, and Stonewall came around.
They’ve been waiting for this for a generation.

There there, here's three books for you, and a quote from Fannie Lou Hamer to help you along.

Oh I get it. Murdoch paper is giving the righties like Glenn and Greengrass dumb false equivalence talking points.
This protest is soon after the Rittenhouse verdict. It's also in broad daylight. Do they seriously think militia men and cops would gun down people in the street right after the Rittenhouse verdict? A trial based on gunning down people in the street? Nice try.
You can bet that if this protest was at night after a period days and high tension, and there was a large militia/police presence, Erick and Jade Jordan would have been targets of violence. That's if they're legit. Hard to say. So many ops going on.

Re: Father and Daughter exercising their rights
Interesting, how Glennfs titles this thread in terms of exercising rights, then uses this story as a platform to slam "democratic party."
Anybody ever wonder why conservative whites like him never talk about the Radical Republicans or the States Rights Democratic Party?
Or why they sure AF never talk about the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party?

Yes, she was solidly for gun rights. I agree with her.

Fannie Lou Hamer was one of the main people challenging the Dixiecrat conservative whites, namely with the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party who very directly challenged the white-conservative hegemony of the Democratic Party. They did so at risk of their lives, since at the time it was still legal to bar African Americans and anyone else from even registering to vote, let alone vote or run for office. In April 1964, the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party (MFDP) was founded. Open to all without regard to race, it was a parallel political party designed to simultaneously encourage Black political participation while challenging the validity of Mississippi’s lily-white Democratic Party.
The MFDP decided to challenge the seating of the so-called “regular” state party at the national party’s convention being planned for August in Atlantic City, New Jersey. With the help of hundreds of young volunteers who came to Mississippi in the Freedom Summer of 1964, the MFDP slowly built up its membership and organized parallel precinct, county, and regional meetings. This culminated in a state convention to select delegates for the Atlantic City convention. The 68-person MFDP delegation included a wide variety of homegrown activists known for their determination and militancy in the face of harsh racial oppression. They included E.W. Steptoe, Fannie Lou Hamer, Victoria Gray, Annie Devine, Hartman Turnbow and Hazel Palmer, among others. Using ideas developed during the local, county, and regional meetings, the MFDP crafted a political platform.
The delegation was hopeful traveling to Atlantic City, and during their first days there, many delegates expressed sympathy for the plight of black Mississippians. Mrs. Hamer’s powerful testimony in which she vividly described her life behind the closed doors of Mississippi society brought some to tears: “Is this America, the land of the free and home of the brave, where we have to sleep with our telephones off the hooks because our lives be threatened daily, because we want to live as decent human beings, in America?”
But ruthless counter-action by President Lyndon Johnson, seeking a peaceful, non-controversial convention and fearful of a Dixiecrat walkout, battered MFDP supporters. Threats were made against supporters in line for federal appointments, and United Automobile Workers leader, Walter Reuther, threatened to withhold money from Martin Luther King’s SCLC.
Finally, a compromise was announced by then-Minneapolis Attorney General Walter Mondale: two seats for the MFDP and full seating of the so-called regulars. No discussion had been held with the MFDP about this “compromise.” The MFDP delegates rejected it after a parade of civil rights leaders and other liberals urged acceptance at an intense meeting. “We didn’t come all this way for no two seats since all of us is tired,” said Mrs. Hamer.
These noose-knotters would kill you just for trying to register.

But consider how the conservative whites reacted when some freaks from the New Black Panther Party showed up to some demonstrations. Those guys are definitely an op, but conservative whites have been so conditioned to get out the hemp rope with any protest, be it by Mother Teresa or MLK or these NBPP clowns or Anteefuh bee ell emm.
We all look alike, to them.

Interesting that cons are so afraid of the "Big Buck" black man that they have to "bear arms" and yet they are such snowflakes over masks.
Re: Father and Daughter exercising their rights
No shit.
I never figured out how they knew God would protect them, but they still have to go armed all the time out of fear. Guess their faith isn't that strong after all.

Eldridge Cleaver, Huey Newton and Bobby Seal scared Ray-Gun shit less. Never that White Cops in Oakland had a history of out and out racial violence against African-Americans. Hell OPD voted Huey Newton most likely to be shot while trying to escape.
Love of Country is not Blind Patriotism. It is not devotion to one person or one party. It is knowing fighting for your country is single most important thing you can do. Do not accept the notion violence is the answer.

Re: Father and Daughter exercising their rights
Governor Ronald Reagan:
Reagan was a gun-grabber. He signed the Mulford Act:"There's no reason why on the street today a citizen should be carrying loaded weapons."
The NRA Supported Gun Control When the Black Panthers Had the Weapons
Throughout the late 1960s, the militant black nationalist group used their understanding of the finer details of California’s gun laws to underscore their political statements about the subjugation of African-Americans. In 1967, 30 members of the Black Panthers protested on the steps of the California statehouse armed with .357 Magnums, 12-gauge shotguns and .45-caliber pistols and announced, “The time has come for black people to arm themselves.”
The display so frightened politicians—including California governor Ronald Reagan—that it helped to pass the Mulford Act, a state bill prohibiting the open carry of loaded firearms, along with an addendum prohibiting loaded firearms in the state Capitol. The 1967 bill took California down the path to having some of the strictest gun laws in America and helped jumpstart a surge of national gun control restrictions.
“The law was part of a wave of laws that were passed in the late 1960s regulating guns, especially to target African-Americans,” says Adam Winkler, author of Gunfight: The Battle Over the Right to Bear Arms. “Including the Gun Control Act of 1968, which adopted new laws prohibiting certain people from owning guns, providing for beefed up licensing and inspections of gun dealers and restricting the importation of cheap Saturday night specials [pocket pistols] that were popular in some urban communities.”
In contrast to the NRA’s rigid opposition to gun control in today’s America, the organization fought alongside the government for stricter gun regulations in the 1960s. This was part of an effort to keep guns out of the hands of African-Americans as racial tensions in the nation grew. The NRA felt especially threatened by the Black Panthers, whose well-photographed carrying of weapons in public spaces was entirely legal in the state of California, where they were based.

Re: Father and Daughter exercising their rights
Ronald Reagan's activism around the Mulford Act (1967) goes hand in hand with him running to repeal the Rumford Act (1963), which outlawed housing discrimination by race.

But then, this is why confederates like Glennfs admire Ronald Reagan and his efforts to crack down on African Americans and other minorities in this state.

Re: Father and Daughter exercising their rights
I posted a few times about the Deacons for Defense and Justice on the old board.
Deacons for Defense and Justice - Blackpast
Deacons for Defense and Justice - Blackpast
Blackpast is pulling their punches. The FBI authorized an investigation of the Deacons for Defense and Justice, sure, under their illegal COINTELPRO program. The noose-knotters at the Mississippi State Sovereignty Commission, well, the FBI worked directly with them. White-conservative law and order is lawless. On July 10, 1964, a group of African American men in Jonesboro, Louisiana led by Earnest “Chilly Willy” Thomas and Frederick Douglas Kirkpatrick founded the group known as The Deacons for Defense and Justice to protect members of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) against Ku Klux Klan violence. Most of the “Deacons” were veterans of World War II and the Korean War. The Jonesboro chapter organized its first affiliate chapter in nearby Bogalusa, Louisiana led by Charles Sims, A.Z. Young and Robert Hicks. Eventually they organized a third chapter in Louisiana. The Deacons tense confrontation with the Klan in Bogalusa was crucial in forcing the federal government to intervene on behalf of the local African American community. The national attention they garnered also persuaded state and national officials to initiate efforts to neutralize the Klan in that area of the Deep South.
The Deacons emerged as one of the first visible self-defense forces in the South and as such represented a new face of the civil rights movement. Traditional civil rights organizations remained silent on them or repudiated their activities. They were effective however in providing protection for local African Americans who sought to register to vote and for white and black civil rights workers in the area. The Deacons, for example, provided security for the 1966 March Against Fear from Memphis to Jackson, Mississippi. Moreover their presence in Southeastern Louisiana meant that the Klan would no longer be able to intimidate and terrorize local African Americans without challenge.
The strategy and methods that the Deacons employed attracted the attention and concern of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), which authorized an investigation into the group’s activities. The investigation stalled, however, when more influential black power organizations such as US and the Black Panther Party emerged after the 1965 Watts Riot. With public attention, and the attention of the FBI focused elsewhere, the Deacons lost most of their notoriety and slowly declined in influence. By 1968 they were all but extinct. In 2003 the activities of the Deacons was the subject of a 2003, “Deacons for Defense” documentary.
