Emile Dupree, the father of former WWE Tag Team Champion Rene Dupree, has sadly died at the age of 86. The news was confirmed by James Here, the co-host of "Cafe de Rene with Rene Dupree," via the podcast's Instagram account.
Emile Dupree (real name Emile Goguen) first ventured into professional wrestling in the mid-1950s, training under Vic Butler and Reggie Richard, who were considered legends in the Maritimes region of Canada. Emile's in-ring career spanned three decades before his eventual retirement in 1988. Amidst his days as an active performer, Emile also launched his own professional wrestling promotion, Grand Prix Wrestling, which operated throughout the eastern portion of Canada. Through his work as a promoter, Emile brought in the likes of Andre the Giant, Rocky Johnson, Sexton Hardcastle (aka Edge), and Christian. After a five-year hiatus, Emile and his son Rene revived GPW in 2013, with their most recent event occurring in 2017.

I have most of his albums. He had a beautiful voice and one of his talents was he was a master whistler. I used to have fun with people and play a song of his where he's whistling and ask them to identify what instrument he's playing. USWA & Portland Wrestling Veteran Bart Sawyer Passes Away
Bart Sawyer, who was a staple of the Portland Wrestling scene, has passed away. The family of Roddy Pipper announced via their Twitter account that Sawyer, real name Steve Stewart, passed away yesterday. No word on the details of his passing. He was 57 years old.
Sawyer was a regular for Portland Wrestling during the early 1990s before he went to the USWA. He got his star in the business training under Bob Giegel in the Kansas City area and had his first match as a student against Curtis Hughes. He worked for the World Wrestling Alliance in Kansas City and then made some appearances for the USWA and WCCW before beginning to work for Pacific Northwest Wrestling.

Grable, real name Betty Wade-Murphy, is a former six-time NWA World Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Wendi Richter and Vicki Williams, as well as a holder of the NWA United States Women’s Championship and the NWA Texas Women’s Championship. She wrestled from 1971 until her retirement in 1991, during which time she worked largely for NWA territories. She was also part of a 10-woman battle royal at AWA WrestleRock 86 among other matches for the company. She has been inducted into the NWA Hall of Fame, the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame, and the St. Louis Wrestling Hall of Fame.
