But, the set up of the House and Senate is one of the things which makes us a representative republic as opposed to a strait democracy. Something you would know and understand had you studied harder in school.

That was changed by the 17 th amendment. The change you suggest will also require an amendment. Also note, the 17th amendment didn’t change the number of Senators slotted to each state but rather merely how they were to be selected.
