So instead of using excess profits to feed the homeless left in the wake of their disinformation and misinformation business fox news had a big fancy tree and it burned down and now they get to violate a random homeless person to soothe their bloodlust for lost property.

How America Criminalizes the Poor in the Name of Justice
The wealth gap in America creates any number of problems—but perhaps the most pressing is its expansion of poverty. When this poverty intersects with a broken criminal justice system, it becomes criminalized. The cycles of poverty and incarceration can span generations, and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Tony Messenger of the St. Louis Post Dispatch has spent years covering the stories of the people affected. In his new book Profit and Punishment: How America Criminalizes the Poor in the Name of Justice, he exposes the tragedy of modern-day debtors’ prisons, and how they destroy the lives of poor Americans swept up in a system designed to penalize the most impoverished.
In this interview they talk about how poor people are accused of a crime and because they cant afford bail, be forced to stay in jail for long extended periods of time while wealthier people can get out and go on with their lives and hire an attorney put together a defense against the charges, while the poor are left to a public defender and become destitute in the process and are often pressured into copping a guilty plea to get it over which then follows them wherever they go work housing or like in the case of some these pleas are used later on to justify police killing of people during arrests as they cite the criminal record.

So they create out of bad process the seeds of despair and disorder and disfunction that become what they want to stop in the first place.

Here in the real world what actually happens is the person is arrested and charged with a crime. A crime that all involved know they are guilty of. So they lock them up at county drag there feet for 60 days to 6 months. Then bring them into court have them plead guilty give them time served and everyone goes about their business.

Petty criminals would hate it if we had the correct system. One where they were let out then in 6 months were found guilty and then had to serve their time.

So no poor person is ever charged with a crime they aren’t guilty of?

Love of Country is not Blind Patriotism. It is not devotion to one person or one party. It is knowing fighting for your country is single most important thing you can do. Do not accept the notion violence is the answer.

Not in my family or circle of friends and acquaintances but I am sure it occasionally happens.

So you’d be good for being put in jail for months and years while innocent?

Sounds to me like a system of guilty before being proven innocent.

I think the person who burned the Fox News plastic Christmas Tree down was Sean Hannity. He was standing next to the tree and, well, you know, "Liar, Liar, pant's on fire."

Good one!

Remember when Rachel or Lawrence or someone else would report on something said by hannity or trump or karl rove or oreilly or any of these horrid people and we would all shake our heads. But we could then relax because they had no power.

They now have so much power that I am preparing for moving all of our money before they take over next Nov.

I actually think crypto may be the only way to go when the GOP destroys the dollar and economy.
I sigh in your general direction.

Huh.

Interesting wording.

Do you feel all involved knew George Floyd was guilty of passing a bad $20 bill? You seem to know he was.

always with the law and order campaign the ire is perversely off target the powers directed at phantom menaces and away from real ones

like Missisipi protecting its citizens for 12 years from misdemeanor inmates with a cell phone

Mississippi man gets 12 years in prison for possessing a cellphone in county jail
A Mississippi man being held at a county jail on a misdemeanor charge asked a guard to charge his cellphone. The phone was confiscated, and the man was slapped with a 12-year prison sentence for possessing a phone in a correctional facility.
and the hysteria over things threatening schools like books instead of shootings

It's time to do something about . . . books
Once again, carnage goes to school. Once again, American students are used for target practice. But conservative leaders are on the case. Recognizing the ongoing threat to our children, they know it’s time for decisive action.

It’s time to do something about books.

And if you expected that sentence to end differently, you haven’t been paying attention. In red America these days, books are Public Enemy No. 1.

As Time magazine recently reported, librarians are seeing a definite spike in censorship activity. Deborah Caldwell-Stone, executive director of the American Library Association’s Office for Intellectual Freedom, called it “an unprecedented volume of challenges.” From Texas to South Carolina, to Virginia to Florida and beyond, conservative governors and advocacy groups are removing books from school library shelves, particularly those that deal with the two subjects they find most threatening: sexuality and race.

All to protect our children.......
