The future is definitely electric cars, but what needs to happen alongside with it, if we're really interesting in combatting climate change, is generating the electricity they use through renewable/sustainable methods.

Also, of course, the charging infrastructure in the country needs to develop, if we want them to be able to reach a greater range beyond just commuting to work from the home.

I also think we will see more and more smart cars over the next decades. I too hope to live to see it. Who doesn't want their car to do the driving? I just hope AI keeps up with the complexity of the problem (the Tesla models pretty much tell the driver he needs to be ready to override and grab the wheel at any possible moment) ... and that we simply don't shrug at all the unemployment this will mean, from taxi/Uber drivers to mail delivery drivers to truck drivers.... it may be the march of progress, but then we need to train them for new jobs.

The differences between 1948 1958 and 1968 cars is amazing.
A 2020 ecar compared to a 2040 ecar will be the same as the difference between a 48 Buick and a 68 Buick
I hope I am alive to see it
It is a big difference and that leads back to my "Atari 2600 theory" that all the newest most cutting edge technology is actually cheesy and old and antique, we didnt see it at the time back in the 80s but can see it clearly now that 80s technology is cheesy and old and antique and and so I would guess we are pretty much in the same situation.

maybe in 20 years we will have newer cutting edge old cheesy antique technology improvements but that could be highly dependent on people and government and business not regressing, its critical that safety, environmental and human rights be a governing part of it. We dont have much of that type infrastructure at this point Im hopeful we can improve in that area if we do maybe the cheesy old antique cutting edge technology will be in anti-gravity or hover crafting. The future probably homes will be able to dock in different places that they can travel through the sky to get to.

They were “lugable”. I remember carrying those on the plane. Now laptops are much faster, cheaper and lighter. II wish I had a modern day laptop or iPad when I was in college.
When I deployed to Zagreb, Croatia in 1995, I was issued a Toshiba "laptop" computer with a CD drive. It was about the size of a briefcase, 2-3 inches thick, and those I deployed with thought it was the greatest thing they ever saw. One medical technician had a CD program that would display medical questions and show possible answers in something like 50 languages which was helpful because there were troops from 18 countries there. Four years later I went to the Senior NCO Academy for 37 days and I signed out a laptop that was about the same size as today's laptops.

Today, my six-year old 32GB iPad has more power than the Toshiba laptop I used in Zagreb.

On March 29th, wind energy produced more electricity than coal and nuclear power. But that was just one day but I could see within 10-15 years wind and solar producing the most energy.
Also, of course, the charging infrastructure in the country needs to develop, if we want them to be able to reach a greater range beyond just commuting to work from the home.
In addition to developing the charging infrastructure we need faster charging times if people are expecting to drive long distances. Purdue University engineers have developed a new set of charging cables that would allow you to recharge an electric car in five minutes, about the same time it takes to fill up a car.

I'm leery of self-driving cars. Right now, the AI technology is too new and hasn't been fully tested in all road conditions and situations. I wouldn't mind having self-driving cars operate only on surface streets and for now not be allowed to operate autonomously on highways and freeways.

Judge rules Amazon must reinstate fired warehouse worker

A judge has ruled Amazon must reinstate a former warehouse employee who was fired in the early days of the pandemic, saying the company “unlawfully” terminated the worker who led a protest calling for Amazon to do more to protect employees against COVID-19.

The dispute involving Gerald Bryson, who worked at an Amazon warehouse in the New York City borough of Staten Island, has stretched on since June 2020, when Bryson filed an unfair labor practice complaint with The National Labor Relations Board, claiming Amazon retaliated against him.

I'd rather have that than Bushonomics, where GW Bush almost sent us into a full-blown depression (and would have had Obama not been elected and saved things).

Inflation is high in Canada. Is Biden responsible for that?

Inflation is high in the UK. Is Biden responsible for that?

Inflation is high in high in Germany. Is Biden responsible for that?

Inflation is high in France. Is Biden responsible for that?

Inflation is high in Hungary. Is Biden responsible for that?

What about other European countries where inflation is high? What about Australia or New Zealand, where inflation is high? Biden is responsible for that?

What about the high world wide gas prices? Biden is responsible for high gas prices in the UK, France, Germany, etc.?

Are there any honest or intelligent conservatives on this board? Any intellectually curious republicans who can easily do some research? Nah, just childish, moronic, dishonest trolls.

The economy is overwhelmingly better than under trump.

Not all of that is the fault or credit of either of them.

The reason America is in trouble is while the ACTUAL performance of Biden Harris with economy, Covid etc is REMARKABLE, the media will never tell you taht.
I sigh in your general direction.

Not doing justice in the larger matters the ones that hurt poor impoverished and working people makes the country unsafe by fueling crime and militaristic enforcement of laws. Price gouging makes our streets unsafe, artificialy induces desperation and disfunction and provide a greater incentive to crime.

unemployment seems to only be a problem when its a problem for business

Worker shortage slows Cinco de Mayo celebrations in Southwest Detroit
.....The crowds have returned, but the workers haven’t.

“We are short-staffed, so we are doing carryout only and you know, making the best we can,” said Bob Dimattia, the general manager at Mexicantown Restaurant.

Dimattia says they used to have 40 employees but on Thursday, they were down to 10. So his two-story eatery was empty.

“But we still have a line, which is great,” Dimattia said.

To accommodate for the limited staff, many businesses closed early.......

At 3.6% our economy is effectively at full-employment. There are 10 million open jobs in America. Our economy needs more workers to continue expanding.
You know what could come in handy? We need more immigrants.

What we don't need are immigrants who are going to take entry level jobs.
My youngest daughter has a few problems. About 6 weeks ago she stopped for gas. They offered her a job working at the food counter. She didn't even ask if they were hiring. It was hey are you looking for a job situation.
She was they started her the next day at 14. an hour. 6 weeks later they have transferred her to another store and gave her a 2 dollar raise.
There are so many opportunities right now I find myself jealous about how hard getting a job was 45 years ago when I was young

This is a white supremacist canard that has resulted in decades and centuries of anti-immigrant vigilante violence, and repressive immigration laws.
