First off, Prima Donna Sinema is already insisting the carried-interest provision has to go.

CBO says it will reduce the deficit. Don't take my word for it.

The first piece of relatively good news for most of us is that if the Inflation Reeducation Act becomes law, it is not designed to increase taxes on small businesses or on families that make $400,000 or less.

Rakeen Mabud, chief economist of the Groundwork Collaborative: The first thing to say is that big public investments, like those contained in this bill, are good for the economy, full stop. So I think the real sort of standout here in the short term is bringing down health care costs. Health care costs are important because they put a massive strain on family budgets. Starting to bring those costs down will significantly ease people’s ability to live a good life and ability to participate in the economy.
[snip]
Rakeen Mabud: I think rather than listening to just me, we just saw a letter with 126 top-tier economists, from folks like Joe Stiglitz, Nobel Prize-winning economist Robert Solow, who built the Solow growth model. So 126 of these really prominent economists have sent a very strong letter to Majority Leader Schumer and Minority Leader McConnell and Speaker Pelosi and Minority Leader McCarthy, [saying] that these investments will fight inflation and lower costs for folks, and set us up for a healthy economy going forward. I think that’s, to me, a really powerful rebuttal.
[snip][end]
Will it reduce inflation overnight? No, there's no magic wand for that. It will do so more persistently over time, over the next few years.
I know what they named the bill. It's because of what everybody's most focused on. Whatever. All in all though, 126 economists - independent of the gov't - analyzed the bill, and concluded that overall it's good for the economy, even if the immediate impacts on inflation won't be dramatic. Thing is, nothing other than global miracles are going to push inflation down dramatically overnight. And nobody's magic wand can do that.
The Federal Reserve's policies will be the most important here. Ironically, but true, you have to slow growth to fight inflation, and so, of course, this is the new talking point, but it's happening. They gotta walk the line between slowing inflation, and pushing us into recession.
More important - IMHO - is it's the first significant piece of climate mitigation to come out of Congress in a while, and that's good - I don't give an F what they call the bill, that's all marketing. Flooding, drought, hurricanes, heatwaves, and disasters have an economic impact; and while they would happen without climate change, scientists know it is making them worse.

Go research what Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert are doing about inflation and get back to us.

The glorious cause?
The only people I see that are on a crusade right now are the neo-Nazi white supremacists waving their AR-15s and Tiki torches at news cameras and chanting about killing everyone who isn't a white Protestant. They seem to have all set their clocks back 100 years.

According to your link, the Joint Committee on Taxation says there are between 100 and 125 corporations that paid an average 1.1% on their profits. The bill, if passed and signed into law, would require corporations to pay a minimum of 15% on their profits.Glennfs wrote: ↑Fri Aug 05, 2022 4:32 am https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics ... r-AA10kaPs

So you're against corporations paying a minimum tax? The average tax rate for Americans is about 14% so why shouldn't corporations, whom conservatives claim are "people," pay at least the same amount?

Brain washing like nothing we have seen in history.
Like LBJ said
Board cons entire identity in America is this person LBJ talks about...and when the adults, us, point it out to him, he gets even more hunkered down in his belief.President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, “If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.”

"Devils" are a theological concept. Devils do not exist.
Being a lazy, manipulated, conservative white backlash voter is a choice, however. You don't have to live that way.
You're a Freedom Caucus constituent. Show us where Andy Biggs, Mo Brooks, Gohmert, Ralph Norman, Greene, Boebert, or any of those unhooded KKK are doing anything about inflation.
Second request.

And banning books.
And non-existent school curricula.
Then this clown-car passenger runs over here and sez it's the left that can only run on "social issues."
They're that petty.

Its worse than that, they not only have NO agenda at all for the American people or the economy, the ONLY thing accomplished by trump was a devastating to everybody tax cut for the rich.
In one day Biden and Harris do more for the economy and people than trump did total 4 yrs.
What does every statistic prove, Democrats save the economy every time and repubs destroy it, every time.

All you guys have to run on is CRT, trans girls on the sports team, gay books in the library, and riling up the hayseeds about all the sluts getting abortions after being raped by conservative men.
That's it.

Guess you didn't see the jobs report.
And he's done a pretty damned good job in dealing in foreign affairs. Unlike Trump. But that's who you want back.
Your side has no agenda for any of this, BTW.
Re: Democratic Party Tax Increase
Throwing out a list of words doesn't establish anything. How did the Biden admin turn those things into a shitshow?
Don't f'n cite his low approval rating. I know it. It still doesn't answer my question.
IMHO, it's Republicans, mostly on the state level, that are turning education into a shitshow in this country.

He wants us to elect a Republican Congress and Senate.
Glenn, tell me why, for instance, Georgians should elect nutjob Hershel Walker over Senator Warnock, who has done an excellent job for the state. Warnock has proved to be a savvy and intelligent Senator. Hell, he's even worked in a bipartisan manner with Senator Ted Cruz!
Your party is FULL of Trumper nutjobs, with even more running this cycle. Why should we give the GOP any power whatsoever, when that power will be wielded by the Walkers and Boeberts?

glenn thinks we should just take his word for what he says but the fact is is glenn is a self-admitted liar who continuously gets caught lying and when asked to provide a link to back up his lies he runs away or ignores answering. Why, because glenn just parrots what he's told by Fox News and never questions what or why they say what they're saying.ProfX wrote: ↑Sun Aug 07, 2022 7:37 am Throwing out a list of words doesn't establish anything.
