Harriet Hageman: "Joe Biden is the largest or the most destructive human trafficker in our history."

This is the nutjob who's running against Liz Cheney.
I sigh in your general direction.

Two things worth remembering tonight:
1. Kevin McCarthy actively and publicly worked to remove Liz Cheney from Congress supporting her opponent.
2. Kevin McCarthy’s cell phone records are part of the ongoing Jan 6. Committee investigation.

While I like Liz Cheney going after Trump, just remember that Cheney would vote the same way as Hageman on the issues, programs, and policies we, as Democrats, favor so it really didn't matter if she won or lost. As far a her defeat affects the Jan 6th Commission, there will be no change. She'll continue in her capacity until the Congressional term ends and then either the commission will have to be renewed (if the Democrats retain the House) or it will end if the republicans take the House.
When you vote left, you vote right.

I've said the same thing, often.

Her policies are trash, and she is also a social conservative -- except for her newly-minted support of her sister, I guess.

It's cool she's on the Jan. 6 Commission and all, but she gets no free passes from me for it.

For everyone mourning the loss of Liz Cheney's seat, let me remind you that there are Democrats running for that seat. And from the looks of it, the winner of the Democratic primary will be Lynette Grey Bull. If you aren't following her, now's the time to start.

Would be very cool for Wyoming to have its first indigenous representative, congrats Ms. Greybull.

Look - she voted with Donald Trump 93% of the time. That's reality. But: I am also a credit where it is due person, and I can acknowledge that her and Kinzinger at least are not on the fanboy train of the GOP, which says if Donald Trump does it it is not only not illegal, it can't even be questioned.

So far, most of the folks who voted for impeachment lost their GOP primaries. There have regularly been motions to expel nevertrumpers from GOP committees or even party membership. But it's Dems who are the fanboys. OK.

Maybe on some other planet.

She can keep serving on the J6 committee for the remainder of her lame duck term, and again to her credit, she says she won't stop serving in that role (until she leaves, of course).

As for her far nuttier primary opponent and primary victor ...

Biden is one of the worst human traffickers in the U.S,? Ah, do you mind, what the fuck does that even possibly mean? What is she talking about? She sounds like a Qcumber.

And ya know ...

https://wyofile.com/does-hageman-really ... e-big-lie/

When WyoFile asked for clarification, Hageman emailed a statement that acknowledged she’s frequently asked if Joe Biden was legitimately elected. “I’m afraid the answer is we don’t know,” she demurred.

That’s a far cry from what the candidate proclaimed at a political forum in Casper last Wednesday. “Absolutely the election was rigged,” she said. “It was rigged to make sure that President Trump could not get re-elected. What happened in 2020 was a travesty.”

Methinks she is.

Oh yes, the woo is strong with this one.

Meet the anti-conservation Republican vying to unseat Cheney
https://www.eenews.net/articles/meet-th ... at-cheney/

[snip]

"I’ve taken on the EPA, I’ve taken on the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. I’ve taken on the USDA," she said last month on "Bannon’s War Room," the podcast hosted by former Trump strategist Steve Bannon.

[snip]

Hageman currently is senior litigation counsel for the New Civil Liberties Alliance, a group that takes on conservative legal causes to fight against environmental regulations, Covid-19 mitigation measures, campaign finance restrictions, taxes and more.

[snip]

At times, however, her legal work on behalf of industry has been in opposition to local decisionmakers. In one case, she successfully represented a gravel company in challenging a Wyoming county’s decision to block a gravel mine operation, according to the Wyoming Tribune Eagle.

More recently, she’s been sounding the alarm on Biden’s "30 x 30" initiative, also known as "America the Beautiful," which aims to conserve 30 percent of the nation’s land and waters by 2030 (E&E Daily, Dec. 20, 2021). She argues it’s a "land grab," a threat to Wyoming and an attempt by Democrats to hasten the decline of rural America.

"The federal government under Joe Biden and radical Democrats are intent on taking over and federalizing our private property rights under the auspices or claim of combating climate change. This is a U.N.-driven, unlawful land grab that would be devastating to the economy in this country and dramatically alter the very nature of private property rights and who and what the United States is," she said on the "Working Ranch Radio Show."

When does our frustration with the Republican Party becoming the party of violence, antidemocracy, and racism, change to a reaction other than talking and expressing anger? There has to be a PRO ACTIVE thing that is not violence that we can be doing?

I guess we wait for Nov, but I dont know what normal solution there is to what is coming.

One member here has said a few times that all this complaining and talking is useless, but what is the alternative other than voting and supporting candidates?

THEY WILL IMPRISON OR KILL us if they get total power, not day one and not all at once, but that will be the long range agenda, we must realize this now!
I sigh in your general direction.

... well, for one thing, you can't vote for Ms. Greybull, but you can donate to her campaign...

Protest, and get involved in social movements. Pro-choice organizations are really looking for volunteers right now.

Get involved with voting rights and election protection organizations. People fighting voter caging.

I do favor civil disobedience. (I don't think driving your truck in circles around DC, harassing other motorists, and acting like an asshole while failing to articulate what you actually are protesting in any sensible way qualifies, but maybe that's just me.) Be aware you can get arrested doing it. If you're ready to do it ... it's a test of commitment, and I don't urge anybody to do it if you don't want to face the consequences.

You say you don't support Trump, but you support his attacks on Liz Cheney.

Let's be clear: I don't like Liz Cheney's political stances, but she alone on the GOP side, I RESPECT her. The rest of the GOP are all cowardly craven Trump sycophants.

Glad to see you are not answering a question from the supporter of antidemocratic violent racists.

I like this article, says we cant call them "fascists" technically speaking, but we can say they are
I wouldn’t call [them] fascists, because fascists are people who were involved in the interwar period. But there’s no question that they’re violent antidemocrats who are also violently racist
https://www.bu.edu/articles/2022/are-tr ... -fascists/

When someone here said we needed to stop calling them fascists, I found this article. So yes, simply because fascists were of a certain time, we instead say this every single time we refer to them
they’re violent antidemocrats who are also violently racist.

TBH I don't really buy this scholar's argument.

These people have brought back literal American-fascism/Supporters of the New Germany era slogans like "America First." We noted it when Pat Buchanan did it 30 years ago, and it surprised utterly no one when he went full-bore white-nationalist 20 years ago.

Buchanan stole it from Lindbergh's America First Committee. Lindbergh was literally a Hitler supporter.

"America First" was also a KKK poster slogan.

Cut to 2016 when Donald Trump made "America First" one of his campaign slogans, calls the literal neo-Nazis at Charlottesville "very fine people," and tells the Proud Boys to stand back and stand by.

If this author wants to limit the concept of "fascism" to the interwar period, that's fine on paper. But these people have dragged it with them into every generation. They clearly want the association.

That said, Liz Cheney is going to stay in this party, despite their treatment of her., despite Mister America First remaining that party's kingmaker as shown by her own loss last night.

Her staying in that party is also fine with me, because out of self-protection I don't support her policies or her social conservatism, anyway.

The whole party belongs in the garbage.

Seems ridiculous to me.

Given that there are fascist parties and movements around today in 2022, and heck, even rarely, openly self-identify as such. (The 'neo' part doesn't seem essential.)

Cheney releases concession call audio to refute primary opponent's claims - Politico

This person is nothing but a disinformation artist/propagandist/gaslighter/Big Liar.
After Harriet Hageman — the Trump-backed victor in Wyoming's Republican primary — said her opponent didn't concede, the Cheney campaign provided a recording.

After Donald Trump-backed Harriet Hageman claimed Wednesday night that Rep. Liz Cheney never fully conceded their Wyoming GOP primary race, the defeated incumbent released her receipts.

Hageman told Fox News that Cheney had “left a very brief two second message on my cell phone” Tuesday night, without addressing “any kind of concession or anything else.” According to audio provided by the Cheney campaign to POLITICO, however, Cheney called Hageman to concede the race at 8:13 p.m. on Tuesday night.

Audible in the recording is an aide notifying Cheney that the Associated Press had just called the race for her opponent.

“Howdy, Harriet, it is Liz Cheney calling,” Cheney is heard saying in the audio. “It is about 8:13 on Tuesday the 16th, I’m calling to concede the election and congratulate you on the win. Thanks.”

The recording contradicts the narrative Hageman offered host Sean Hannity on Wednesday about Cheney’s call on primary night.

“I haven’t had any other contact with Liz Cheney. She made the one effort and all she said was ‘Hello Harriet.’ And then that was the end of it,” Hageman said. When Hannity sought to clarify that she was alleging Cheney had “just said ‘Hello Harriet’ and then hung up,” Hageman reiterated: “That was the end of the call, yes.”

Depends on who the primary opponent is.

If tomorrow, I moved to AZ, for some reason, and Sinema was in a primary against Lyndon Larouche (D-State of Delusion), I would vote for Sinema. If there wasn't some option for a Green or Independent candidate in the general election.

The thing about posing hypotheticals is you need to supply the conditions. (It's why I hate 'em; people rarely do.)
