Reports: Jazz trade Donovan Mitchell to Cavaliers

The Utah Jazz have traded star guard Donovan Mitchell to the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to multiple reports. The Cavaliers will send three players, three unprotected first-round picks and two pick swaps in return. The full reported breakdown:

Not a huge fan of either team but I am a hige fan of NBA basketball.

Somewhat related - the Cavs have the worst announcers in the NBA. Their broadcasts are virtually unlistenable.

Austin Carr is a nice guy but I think it is time for him to retire. He really adds nothing to the broadcast. Campy Russell during halftime and pre-, post-game is pretty good. They had Brad Daugherty in for a guest appearance as analyst and I thought he did well.

Great trade

Much discussion on Discord as to whether or not they overpaid. I am ambivalent about whether they overpaid or not. The players they sent weren’t really critical although Markanen (spelling?) is a nice spot up 3 shooter. The three number ones is more concerning. One good thing is that this will take some pressure off Okoro to score because he just can’t shoot.

One interesting thing is that Mitchell is a short 2 like Sexton. Apparently analytics show Mitchell is a better defender than Sexton. We shall see.

One other potential issue is that Mitchell can seek a trade after this season, iirc.

We will have to see.
