Wow.

Trump fires John Bolton as national security adviser

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump has fired National Security Adviser John Bolton after a string of disagreements between the two over how the U.S. should handle North Korea and Iran.

Trump announced on Twitter that he had asked for Bolton's resignation, which he received this morning, after the president had "disagreed with many of his suggestions."

Outrage erupts as ‘lying buffoon’ Trump turns Pentagon 9/11 commemoration ‘into an infomercial about himself’

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump participated in a September 11th Pentagon Observance Ceremony on Wednesday morning.

But many viewers of the event noted that Trump spent a lot of time talking about himself during his speech at the ceremony.

Michael Cohen signed a deal to cooperate with prosecutors in a new probe of Trump’s business: report

Michael Cohen has signed a proffer agreement with the Manhattan district attorney’s office as part of a new investigation into President Donald Trump’s business, according to a report from CNBC on Wednesday.

CNN similarly reported that Cohen has been speaking with the New York prosecutor’s office run by Cy Vance as it explores potential wrongdoing in the Trump Organization regarding falsified business records.

Trump to fly message over Houston Democratic debate

HOUSTON, Texas -- While some may be anticipating sparks to fly between Democratic candidates onstage, the Trump campaign plans to literally fly its counter messaging in the air above Houston ahead of Thursday's debate.

President Donald Trump's campaign intends to counter-program the Democratic primary debate hosted by ABC News and Univision with an ad blitz that includes two front-page newspaper ads and flying a massive banner in the air that blasts socialism just before candidates take the stage.

If there's any other state that i love besides NY it's California.

Californians hate Trump so much Dem lawmakers are passing bills at ‘warp speed’ to combat him

If there’s one place where President Donald Trump is not welcome, it’s California. Morning Consult’s state-by-state tracker shows that Trump is underwater 30 points in the state. In 2018, Californians elected Democrats to seven seats previously held by Trump’s allies.

The upshot, according to Tim Arango, Thomas Fuller, and Jose A. Del Real in The New York Times, is that California Democrats, who solidly control the state government from Gov. Gavin Newsom to supermajorities in both chambers of the legislature, are passing a sweeping package of laws meant to stand up to Trump — and lay out a sweeping new progressive vision in the process.

So the good news ... Trump had a rally in NM. No violence, as some people were predicting. However, it was a Trump rally, so there had to be some idiocy, of course.

Trump says of Hispanic supporter Steve Cortes: 'He looks more like a WASP than I do'
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/pol ... 348378001/

WASHINGTON -- At his Monday evening campaign rally in New Mexico, President Donald Trump touted his support among Hispanic voters, and pointed to a member of his campaign's Hispanic Advisory Council, saying "Who do you like more, the country or the Hispanics?"

Speaking about Steve Cortes, Trump said "He happens to be Hispanic, but I’ve never quite figured it out because he looks more like a WASP than I do."

[snip]

"We love our Hispanics, get out and vote," Trump said.

[snip][end]

"Our" Hispanics? Don, are you like growing them on some kind of farm?

Boy, please keep this up, you're really winning them over ...

These MAGAhat whites still think of people as ownable objects. Since they are confederates, it makes sense.

And the white-aspirant "Latinos for Trump" types dutifully keep trying to hammer and saw themselves into the mold. Happy Hispanic Heritage Month. :problem:

Trump delivers 'false choice' for Latinos between country, racial identity: Experts - ABC News

Doesn't really take an expert to see what's going on, but okay.

Quote:
President Donald Trump sought to woo Latino voters during a campaign swing through New Mexico Monday evening, touting his electoral appeal with that key voting demographic in the 2020 presidential election, while invoking language that sparked criticism for drawing divisions between nationality and ethnicity.

While introducing Hispanic Advisory Council member Steve Cortes -- who also works as a CNN commentator and was a Wall Street trader -- Trump asked him to choose between Hispanics or the country.

Trump, shouting at Cortes, asked, "Who do you like more, the country or the Hispanics?"

"He says, the country," the president said.

Trump also said of Cortes, "He happens to be Hispanic, but I have never quite figured it out because he looks more like a WASP (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant) than I do."

While the GOP has remained mostly silent, the awkward scene before his spirited base prompted flak from those who saw the comments as offensive, including Republican presidential primary challenger Joe Walsh, as well as Democratic contender Julián Castro.

One Republican political consultant and outspoken Trump critic, Mike Madrid, called the remarks "troubling," since Trump made "a caricature of what a Hispanic 'looks like'" and drew "a distinction between Hispanics and true Americans."

Trump suggested that "Cortes must choose his true allegiance. Hispanics are demonstrably second-class citizens in the eyes of this president. These are both textbook definitions of racism," Madrid said.

The terms Hispanic and Latino both cover a wide range of people with multi-national origins, across different geographic regions and among a broad number of dialects. Several official U.S. government documents acknowledge the difference, separating out a question of race from a question of Hispanic/non-Hispanic, including on census forms.

Cortes defended the president on Twitter, saying that Trump used "awkward phrasing" but was trying to point out how much Cortes loves both the country and Hispanics, and "joking" that he couldn't tell which he loves more.

Steve Cortes

@CortesSteve
Re: the President’s comments to me last night at the rally — awkward phrasing but he was merely trying to point out that I love this country AND Hispanics a whole lot, joking that he can’t tell which I love more. Critics should stop imputing malice where there is none. #MAGA

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to ABC News' request for comment.

At the rally, Trump attempted to thread overtures to the Hispanic community throughout his speech, arguing that he has "the best numbers" across the board -- but particularly among Hispanic Americans despite his anti-immigrant agenda.

"They understand they do not want criminals coming across the border," he claimed. "They do not want people taking their jobs. They want to have that security. They want the wall. They want the wall."

Trump even said his administration is "working night and day to deliver a future of limitless opportunities for our nation's Hispanic American citizens, including millions and millions of extraordinary Mexican-Americans who enrich our society, and strengthen our country, serve in our military and contribute immensely to other shared American family."

In a recent ABC News/Washington Post poll, Trump's approval rating among Hispanics stood at 25%, far below the 50% approval among whites.

Dunno, to put it simply, Trump tried to "woo" Hispanic voters by telling them they had to choose between him, and being patriotic to their country, and "being" "Hispanic" - like that was an either/or choice.

He seems to think this will win him Hispanic votes. Given how stupid a strategy that is, and how I want him to fail, far be it to me from interfering with his shooting of his own foot.

Also, he seems to have just recently discovered that some Hispanics (like Steve Cortez) might look like WASPs. Hint. Many do, Don, welcome to reality.

Billionaire to host top-dollar fundraiser in New York City for President Trump

Wall Street billionaire John Paulson is hosting a top-dollar fundraiser for President Trump’s 2020 campaign while the president is in New York next week.

Paulson, who made his billions betting against the U.S. housing market before the Great Recession of 2008, was an early supporter of Trump during the 2016 presidential election after he received the Republican party nomination. He is also an economic adviser to the president, Fox Business reported.

TBH I think the point is to alienate all but the most righwing nutjob Latinos and use the latter as a bat to beat the others. Conservative whites have a really long violent history of this here, and for Latin American/Caribbean/South American immigrants or recent immigrants, most of those countries already have that kind of stratification by color/race/ancestry/etc., as it is.

Conservative whites do this sort of thing if only because of how well colorism and racism in this hemisphere works.

Trump sues to try to stop tax returns from being sent to NY prosecutor

Washington (CNN) President Donald Trump is suing his long-time accounting firm Mazars USA and New York district attorney Cyrus Vance to attempt to stop his accounting records and tax returns from being sent to the local prosecutor.

The suit is the boldest broadside yet against any local or state prosecutors who may want to investigate Trump while he serves in the White House. For the first time, Trump's private legal team pushes an argument into federal court that the President should be immune from criminal investigation while in office.

Federal judge blocks California law requiring Trump tax returns

A federal judge issued a temporary injunction against a California state law that requires presidential candidates to disclose their tax returns to appear on the primary ballot.

President Trump's lawyers and the Republican National Committee had challenged the law.

Trump ordered to appear for deposition in case involving his security guards
https://thehill.com/regulation/court-ba ... olving-his

A New York judge Friday ordered President Trump to answer questions in a civil suit involving a 2015 incident between protesters and his security guards.

State Supreme Court Justice Doris Gonzalez ruled Trump must “appear for a videotaped deposition prior to the trial” under oath, saying his testimony is “indispensable.”

The trial involves a group of protesters who say Trump’s security guards assaulted them outside of Trump Tower in 2015. The plaintiffs were demonstrating against Trump’s rhetoric toward Mexican immigrants.

The judge rejected arguments from Trump’s camp saying the president’s duties should exempt him from testifying. Gonzalez said Trump may answer questions from the White House “at a time that will accommodate his busy schedule,” and that “there would be no necessity for the president to attend in person, though he could elect to do so.”

“The decision is not surprising. It may be newsworthy, but it's not surprising. No one is above the law, including the president of the United States,” Attorney Benjamin Dictor, who's representing the plaintiffs, told NBC News.
