It's been over a month since we brought Comet home. She's a Coton de Tulear.

In a lot of ways she's like our other dog, as far as smarts, affection with us, how she plays etc.
But in other ways she's different. She's extremely well adjusted. Loves everyone. And loves other dogs. I take her to a puppy socialization class twice a week and she's right in there playing with all the other puppies and flirting with people on the other side of the enclosure.
She hasn't really barked. It's weird. When she has attempted to it's pretty weak. That could change of course, but I'm having my doubts she'll be a barker. Not necessarily a good thing because I doubt she'll be much of a watch dog

Took me only a few short sessions to teach her how to sit, and ring a set of bells at the back of the house when she wants out. Which isn't working out too well since she loves it outside and rings the bells all the time. I had to put them away for now.
What a little cutie! We got all three of our dogs from the used dog lot aka shelter. The first was Marvin who was a Shepherd/Lab mix. He was smart and loved to retrieve and takes things to me or Mrs. Bird. The second was Barkley who was, as best as we could tell, a Great Dane/Boxer/Pit mix. He was smart as all get out. He would play frisbee until he dropped. The third is Fuzzy. Fuzzy is a sweetheart but perhaps not the sharpest pencil in the box. He is Beagle/Lab/Husky. Therefore his nose gets him in trouble. He comes when called on his terms and he HATES the feral cats in the area. He actually had one by the back when in wandered into our fenced in yard but we got it away from him. Not another cat has been in the yard since.
We actually had a stray that wandered up to our house when we lived in Toledo. He was a Shepherd pup that developed Parvovirus. We took him to the vet, he was there for a week and got better and a couple months later he tore the tie-out stake (he was a fence jumper) went over the fence and we never saw him again. Mrs. Bird says that St. Francis sent him to us so he could get better.
