Hamas fires 7000 rockets at Israel, starting major war
Re: Hamas fires 7000 rockets at Israel, starting major war
The one thing that has remained a constant with bibi is his version of, "from the river to the sea." It's no better than the Hamas version.

I guess it all depends on which side you choose. I haven’t heard anyone offer a version of this deal both Israel and Hamas will accept. They still hold Israeli and US hostages.
I haven’t heard a version of this that results in a long lasting peace leaving Hamas in place. Have you?

What Netanyahu means when he says "from the river to the sea" is just a Google search away.

I’m sure BiBi’s definition is the same as Hamas. Therein lies the problem. There isn’t a middle ground these two will agree upon. Somebody has to win and somebody has to lose. Either way the innocent in Gaza will suffer.
Re: Hamas fires 7000 rockets at Israel, starting major war
There will never be peace in Israel as long as Netanyahu is in charge. You have to WANT peace. But I’m having a hard time seeing any difference between Netanyahu and Hamas.JoeMemphis wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 6:03 pm I’m sure BiBi’s definition is the same as Hamas. Therein lies the problem. Can there be a lasting peace between Israel and an Islamic people?
I dunno. Ask Jimmy Carter.

[bold]Better said. There are both Israelis and Palestinians who don't want anything to do with what bibi is now doing. Hell, 3/4 of the international world are getting pissed with bibi. Some may not like what Biden, Schumer, and now Pelosi are saying but morally, it's the right thing to do.I’m sure BiBi’s definition is the same as Hamas. Therein lies the problem. 13 thousand children killed so far.

In Gaza, starving children fill hospital wards as famine looms
Someone has to lose? What's bibi's next step? Starving the rest do death? Not cool, and should not be supported.

I’m not sure what the majority of Israelis want. But it’s total war for them and for Hamas. I don’t see a plan for peace that both Hamas and the Israelis will accept. I haven’t heard one. It’s easy for us to arm chair quarterback from thousands of miles away.bradman wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 8:24 am [bold] That should be, 'both Bibi and Hamas'.

I highly doubt we would have paused the war in 1945 and hundreds of thousands of civilians we dying. Such is the nature of wars fought not on a distant plain but in cities and villages. Hamas knew this. Planned for this. And yet they chose to murder 1200 innocents and kidnap hundreds more and then retreat to fight among the civilians they represent. My fear is that if the Israelis don’t finish what they have started, this will happen again.
Let’s also not forget the innocent men, women and children still held hostage.
Re: Hamas fires 7000 rockets at Israel, starting major war
Ya, some agree with Bibi. It's total war. But then one has to keep in mind, if it's total war the innocent hostages are nothing more than collateral damage. Which is one of the reasons for the demonstrations in Israel calling for a cease fire.JoeMemphis wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 8:37 am I’m not sure what the majority of Israelis want. i don't knows if what bibi is doing can be compared to WWII. It's more of trying to prevent this from getting out of hand and causing a WWIII. Or worse yet, fulfilling Revelations. As another poster has pointed out in the past, now that'd give the christian right a orgasm. They'd all be stumbling about in religious ecstasy. Putin can play Satan. Bibi the Antichrist. And Trump the False Prophet. An Unholy Trinity.

Glenn and Joe tells us that there's nothing else to do but genocide on both sides. They cheer it on.
But two things. First, after decades of murder, there is lasting peace in Ireland. And Jimmy Carter was able to bring both sides together to negotiate a lasting peace between Israel and Egypt.
So it CAN be done. But then, some people prefer war before anything else.

Re: Hamas fires 7000 rockets at Israel, starting major war
The leaders of Hamas, who are basically the bad guys in this situation, have undoubtedly fled the country, escaped all legal consequences, and put the Middle East situation back into the eyes of the world. Yes, folks, the bad guys win again. Depressing, huh?
BiBi jumped right through the hoop they held up for him, because they knew that their heinous crime would be followed by a much worse situation that would make most people forget it. Gaza barely functioned on a good day, so it didn't take much imagination to see the most likely future here.
BiBi is something of a tragic hero. There are only two possible reasons for his failure to grasp the full situation he was being enticed into. First is that he knew he was in deep legal trouble, and needed a Get Out Of Jail Free card. Second is that he really is that out of touch with the 21st century.
But that's too abstract for most Americans. For them, we can explain the long term result in much simpler terms. Gas just got more expensive again. The Red Sea shipping lane is closed indefinitely, as a direct result of the war. You pay for the policy failures in the Middle East every time you put that nozzle in your car.

If someone crossed our borders and killed and/or kidnapped a large number of our citizens, it would be all out war. We wouldn’t stop until we won. It’s the same for the Israelis. Why should we expect them to accept something less than what we would accept?bradman wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 9:26 am Ya, some agree with Bibi. It's total war. As far as Revelations, I know there are some folks on the right who get into that and also some folks on the left who get into that as well. As for me, I don’t fufilling the prophecies in Revelations is high on the list of leadership. It just makes for good propaganda. More politics of fear. I don’t have time for that.

Remind me again how we targeted women and children after 9/11?
Re: Hamas fires 7000 rockets at Israel, starting major war
If you were attacked from the south, the solution would be to kill tens of thousands of Mexican children?
I guess that explains Iraq. Well, kind of, Iraq didn't do anything. Strangely, it was glen advocating for Bush. I guess Joe was in silent disagreement.
There seems to be an alarming level of acceptance of the unnecessary deaths of innocent people. Ghastly.

Again Toonces, if you have a peace plan that is acceptable to both Hamas and the Israelis I am sure the world would love to hear it. Otherwise, saying there’s a better way without offering a viable option is just empty rhetoric. I don’t think anyone is saying the loss of innocent lives is meaningless. It clearly isn’t. It IS a consequence of war. Talking about it won’t stop it.Toonces wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 1:26 pm If you were attacked from the south, the solution would be to kill tens of thousands of Mexican children?

I mean, I have.
Then again, it's not my job to do that, is it?
If "in lieu of something else, let's continue to slaughter children" is your current position, then your current position sucks.
You've clearly demonstrated your almost complete disregard for the lives of others, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. You're welcome to deny this, but there is a historical record on this board of your dismissal of human beings. It's been present in everything you've said. The manly thing would be to own up to it.

My current position is that I don’t have all the answers and neither do you. My current position is that I have not seen or heard a viable option that is acceptable to both Hamas and Israel. So you can continue to say all this ought to stop but until both sides agree to a peace deal or one side wins and the other loses, nothing changes. Talk on all you want. I get that sucks. But war sucks and war is what we have.Toonces wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 1:37 pm I mean, I have.

Your only answer is that Hamas killing women and children is terrorism, but Israel doing it back is completely acceptable.JoeMemphis wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 2:15 pm My current position is that I don’t have all the answers and neither do you. It says a lot that Biden can give a statesmanlike speech and get yawns from the public, while some Republican weirdo knows she can get all the TV attention by dressing up like a clown and acting like a fourth grader who just got hold of Dad's methamphetamine.

What does it say in your opinion? Are you surprised by the fact that not everybody shares your opinion or your perspective? You shouldn’t be. What is truly shocking to me is that we are unable to produce better candidates for POTUS and these two are the best the parties have to offer. Say it ain’t so.

Yet you keep voting for these slimeballs. Why did you vote for Ron DeSantis? Why are you going to vote for Rick Scott?JoeMemphis wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2024 3:09 pm What does it say in your opinion? I remember you complaining for YEARS about Medicare fraud. Yet you are voting for the man responsible for the biggest Medicare fraud in US history.
Oh wait, I'll bet it's like Trump - there wasn’t a victim, right?
