Old man pretending he’s a kid again!
Decided I REALLY wanted to return that shot in pickle ball a couple of hours ago. Didn’t make it, fell down on the wooden court and landed on my forearm. A little cut and a big ‘ole goose egg! Full mobility in my arm without pain,I kept playing for another half hour. But the trainers at the gym said they hadn’t seen anything swell up that fast before. Called the nurse through my insurance, and they said to have it looked at.
Doc said it’s a hematoma, I’d broke a blood vessel and it bled in. Took X-rays, bone is fine. They’re wrapping it, I need to ice it. He said I could even go back to lifting tomorrow. He said I’m going to get a big ‘ole multicolor bruise though!
This won’t slow me down a bit! I need to keep reminding myself not to dive for those again, let them go!
You're not getting older, you're getting....
Naw, you're getting just older!
I used to run being able to do 5 - 7 mile distances (my best was 11 miles) but I gave that up as I got older mainly to protect my knees. I would've liked to continue playing volleyball but it would be hard for me to find a team that would take a 50-plus old player even though I was still a starter on our medical group's volleyball team at age 54.
I limit my competitive sports to bowling which is both a competitive and social sport. Like golf, bowling can be a frustrating game where you're hot in one game and cold in another game. Last Thursday, my fist two games were 171 and 178, well below average, and then I shot up to 256 for a 605 series. Another guy on my team, about seven years younger than me, did really bad on the first two games and on the third game he shot a 234.
Anyway, I hope you heal fast and get back out on the court.
