Burt Reynolds passed away this morning at the age of 82. I remember him from when he was a regular on Gunsmoke in the 60s and his movies like Deliverance, Smokey and the Bandit I and II,, The Longest Yard, and The Cannonball Run. I'll remember him mainly for the fun movies he made in the 70s and 80s than any other time.

RIP

He was a very good actor and his self deprecation was legendary.

I saw multiple Johnny Carson interviews back in the day and what always jumped out was how he would put himself down and seem to REALLY mean it, in a very funny way of course.

I liked this last movie of his, about himself

I also liked "Deliverance"

and his Tonight Show interviews were legendary, the self deprecating humor was funny as hell

RIP Burt.

Story was TMJ, which was the reason he was heavily addicted to painkillers.

At the time for some reason, even though I know better, I didnt doubt the story at all. Not saying I doubt it now but an easy cover for being an addict would be a health story like that.

Either way the guy did a lot of his own stunts, like James Garner and a few others had many injuries and was in constant pain.

Why I was endeared to him to the very end was those Tonight Show interviews, he was so funny, so self aware of how crazy celebrity status really is.
