Federal judge rejects L.A. school district’s bid to stop teachers from striking

With the clock ticking on a strike by teachers in the Los Angeles Unified School District, a federal judge rejected a bid by Superintendent Austin Beutner’s administration to limit or stop the labor action from happening as scheduled this Thursday.

Attorneys for the nation’s second-largest school district went to court Thursday, telling U.S. District Judge Ronald S.W. Lew that students with special needs would be denied education services that are guaranteed to them under U.S. law.

A good ruling. :)

This Austin Beutner’s wiki page reads like gone with the wind. It sounds like the guy works all day every day, and then spends all night every night going to charity meetings:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin_Beutner

Most of the districts teachers don't work in the special education department, but he'e trying to use that department and their disadvantaged students as a wedge to disallow all teachers from striking. Even those who do work in special education should not be disallowed from striking. A brief interruption of their services occur during holidays, and summer. If those interruptions in service don't sink the good ship Lollipop I don't see why a strike would.

I think the guy thinks he's a liberal. However I'm not sure what he is. He's clearly got his fingers and toes stuck into too much stuff for one person to do all at once, and he surly isn't getting enough sleep with all his jet setting around to stay alive.

His kids couldn't possibly have had enough time with him to know who the heck he is.

LAUSD is more dysfunctional than the human mind is capable of comprehending.

The L.A. school district is the second largest school district in the country and it's not hard to imagine how difficult it is to manage. Resources are limited and hard choices have to be made but not being able to come to a contract agreement after 18 months of negotiating is irret.sponsible on the school district's par

Irresponsible, thy name is LAUSD.

It's been a pathogenic focus for as long as I can remember.
