TV station concedes it doesn't know why CNN turned down 'local view' on border

An executive at a San Diego television station conceded Friday that he didn't know why CNN did not interview a local reporter after asserting the network "declined to hear from us" because past reports from the station showed that a border wall was effective.

KUSI-TV news director Steve Cohen acknowledged on Friday that he didn’t actually know why CNN turned down an opportunity to interview local reporter Dan Plante, The Associated Press reported.

The border south of San Diego had an ordinary chain link fence. It was a wild west show for years. When the summer VHF propagation was in, the Border Patrol on the scanner radio was better entertainment in L.A. than anything on TV. They'd catch hundreds every night.

They put in a real wall some years back, and indeed the illegal entries dropped, but we're still trying to get a handle on the correlation. There are other variables. We have fewer people coming, and the beginning of conservative rabble rousing on the issue, as witness the private militias from Arizona. My conclusion is that the wall helped with a particular law enforcement issue in one local area, but it sure didn't fix the problem. It only changed it.

Just yesterday I saw photos of the latest drug tunnel to be discovered. People are resourceful, and they'll get in one way or another.
