My wife has COVID.

Post by gounion »

I had a stopped-up nose last week, and so did my wife. The last few days, my wife got real congested and had a bit of trouble breathing. So, she made a doctor's appointment yesterday. She tested positive. They tested me, and said it just BARELY showed up on my test. So maybe I had a really light case and it's over.

She worsened in the evening, and I took her to the emergency room, where they took xrays and gave her a breathing treatment. X-rays were clear of any lung issues like pneumonia. I'm in good shape and health, but she's got several issues, though we've both lost our weight we had.

I'm sure having gotten the vaxes helped ensure our cases weren't worse.

Our primary is next Thursday, so I'll test again Tuesday or so the make sure, but I think my wife won't be able to work it. Since I'm running our precinct, I do hope to be there. I'm feeling fine. Heck, I've been working out heavily lately.

I have cataract surgery on my eyes in a few weeks. Looking forward to better peepers.

Hope she is OK
Cataract surgery is nothing even a p u ss y like me ( when it comes to doctors) had it no problem.

I suggest you sleep sitting up in a chair 3 to 5 days longer than they tell you to. Being overly cautious is never a bad thing.

Lastly when they do the first eye cover it and look out the other. Then repeat with the other eye. You will see a brown tint you didn't know was there.

One more thing be careful. After my surgery I looked at this really good looking guy and thought I was turning gay. Then discovered I was walking past a mirror.

I heal quickly. I'll be back to working out as soon as I can. They say a week after the last surgery.

I hope you and your wife recover quickly. I had COVID, for the first and hopefully last time, last September and it felt like a really bad cold. I primarily sat and slept in my leather recliner and continued to drink water (about a gallon a day) for three days. I'd go to bed early and sleep in later than I normally do. I hope you'll be able to work at your polling station.

Hope your cataract surgery goes well. I'm subbing in bowling for a friend while he recovers from his two cataract surgeries. His ophthalmologist told him he couldn't lift anything heavier than seven pounds while his eyes heal which is why he can't bowl. His first surgery required seven weeks of recover but turned into nine weeks and he had the second eye done two weeks ago. My optometrist said I'll need cataract surgery for my left eye in about two years.

Well, I certainly hope that I can get back to working out sooner than that!

My wife has had two confirmed cases of covid and it basically hit her like a bad flu for about a week both times. Body aches, fever, chills, loss of energy, cough, and all around discomfort.

Her reaction to the vaccine and booster shots (Moderna) was basically the same. Only lasted 2-3 days.

I am fairly certain that I had covid in January of 2020 for the first time when my boss came back from a Christmas vacation and got stuck in international airports for 48 hours on his way home. He came back with most of the common covid symptoms and everyone else in our office came down with it shortly thereafter.

I didn't have any adverse reactions to either of my covid shots and was symptom free the other time I tested positive for covid.

Our oldest daughter was one of the first handful of people to officially test positive for covid in our state and her only symptom was a loss of taste and smell that lasted for almost six months. She went from having a nose that was as sensitive as a Labrador retriever's to zero almost overnight.

It's quite odd how wide ranging the symptoms can be.

Hope your wife recovers fully and quickly.

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, I think that, first, the vaccines helped turn what was a life-threatening disease into a minor annoyance. I mean, both my wife and I were certainly considered high-risk, but it’s turned out to be a minor issue in my case, and relatively minor in hers. She’s breathing fine, but is very tired and she has a lot of aches.

Some people ignore the fact that a million people died of it in the USA. I personally knew at least 10 people that died from it.

I will say this - We have an primary election Thursday. My wife is still sick with COVID, though she isn't worsening. She mostly is extremely tired, with some breathing trouble. So, she has had to drop out from working the election with me.

Good news is that we voted early a couple weeks ago, on the first day of early voting. It's became something a tradition with us.

But what if we had said we wanted to wait to vote on election day? Well, then she would have had to go out sick, and possibly infect someone else.

This is why I disagree with those who think that the only way to vote is to vote on election day at the polls.
