Last Sunday, I woke up and the room was tilting to the right. My head was spinning, I was nauseous, dizzy when stood up, and when I walked it was like I was trying to walk on a ship in a terrible storm. Monday was much of the same way. Tuesday morning I called my sister, who live about a half mile away, and asked her to take me to the ER because I have vertigo.
After arriving at the hospital, I had a CAT Scan, an MRI, and a Contrast CAT Scan and then admitted to the hospital. I had the usual blood being drawn at all hours of the day, occupational therapy and physical therapy visits, speech therapy (mainly to determine my cognitive functioning). I had a tele-med conference with a neurologist who said everything looked good and ruled out any neurological caused. The said the cause of my vertigo was the crystals in the inner ear had move out of place and that’s what caused my vertigo. The gave me an exercise to perform to help the crystals return to their normal position. Basically, I hold a sheet of paper at arm’s length and as I keep my eye focused on a word printed on the paper and turn my head left and right. I also got Meclizine to help the crystals to return to their correct position.
I was released late Thursday afternoon and I’m staying with my sister and her husband for a couple of days until I can somewhat back to normal. I was given a walker (it’s now official, I’m old because I have a walker) to use to help me get around. Thursday and Friday I was still wobbly then I began to improve on Saturday. Today, Sunday, I’m walking without the walker and very little dizziness. I plan on going back to my home on Monday. I have an appointment with my primary care advisor on Thursday to get a referral for vestibular therapy to treat what’s left and if I get a reoccurrence of vertigo I’ll know what to do,
I hope to be back on this board more regularity.

Re: I have Vertigo
Sorry I haven't responded earlier. I'm doing fine. I still have little missteps when I walk but nothing that causes me concern. Funny thing is the wobbliness will return when I'm in a crowd causing me to walk slow but when there's no one around and I walk fast there's no problem. Driving isn't a problem but I haven't tried riding my bicycle yet. I'm back to bowling and because I'm moving forward with a slight bend I can feel a little uneasiness but that passes after about two frames.
So overall, I'm doing well.
Thanks for asking.

Re: I have Vertigo
its that time for giving everything back.
you come into this life and people give you stuff, then you get your own stuff, then you begin to
give it all back.
