ICE
Re: ICE
In the conservative Utopia, 0.5% of the people have 99.5% of the money. We see here an unconscious desire for a return to hereditary aristocracy.
It also seems obvious that the well known fact that immigrants have always done the cheap labor, even if they had to be captured and brought here as slaves, is not relevant in their parallel universe. Too many Americans just figure that those who aren't from the Lucky Sperm Club don't deserve to live. "If they can't afford bread, let them eat cake." (Marie Antoinette, right before the French Revolution.)

Man accused of robbing, zip tying woman while pretending to be ICE officer
In a press conference on Monday, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office revealed more information about the man accused of pretending to be an ICE agent when he robbed a business and zip tied a woman. While announcing the charges, District Attorney Larry Krasner had strong words for President Donald Trump.

In what world that's feasible i don't know. Only in some kind of fucked up Conservative utopia i guess. A fantasy sounds more like it.

At least 11 people have died in ICE detention under Trump, as administration on pace for deadliest year in decades
Donald Trump’s administration is on pace to have one of the worst years for deaths in immigrant detention in decades following the recent deaths of a Canadian citizen and a Cuban man in federal custody.
A 75-year-old Cuban man died in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement last week, CBS News reports, citing a notice sent to Congress of the alleged death.

Mexican undocumented are presumably mostly Catholic, if they're anything.
Usually with the Middle East it's about religion, but the US border thing is more about a bogus economic theory that employing immigrants depresses wages. Back in the real world, what's keeping wages down is that the economy depends on cheap labor and consumers won't accept higher prices to raise entry level pay.

Republican Senators think deporting American Citizens is Funny
This is pretty much astounding.
Both Senator Norman and Tuberville basically scoff at the idea that American Citizens are being kidnapped by the ICEtapo, detained and deported. They basically argue that if that happens, it’s the “cost of doing business”. That you gotta “break some eggs” to make an omelet. They don’t care. It doesn’t even faze them. They think it’s Funny.

Standard right wing thinking. The right is stuck on the idea that People Not Like Them are the whole problem. When one of their own shoots up a school, well that's the cost of freedom. There is no rationality here.

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors approved a program to train small businesses and employees on their rights in the event of an ICE raid.
Good for them! Of course, the one person to vote against this was Jim Desmond, a republican. The only other republican on the board voted for it.The county Board of Supervisors Tuesday voted 4-1 in favor of a program to train owners and employees of small businesses about their rights in the event of a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raid.
"Small businesses shouldn't have to fear being shut down by government overreach if they have played by the rules," she said. "We're working to protect constitutional rights, uphold due process, and make sure federal fear-mongering doesn't threaten lives and livelihoods, or destabilize San Diego's economy."
Small businesses account for nearly 380,000 businesses in San Diego County, many of them immigrant-owned and operating on thin margins, a statement from Lawson-Remer's office read.
Her proposal "focuses on workplace stability, legal compliance, and dignity for working families in the face of unprecedented ICE activity," she said.

Immigrants forced to eat 'like a dog' in 'overcrowded and chaotic' detention centers
Forced to eat the day's only meal "like a dog," with their hands shackled behind their back. Detained for days with nothing but shoes for a pillow and no other bedding ‒ just cold, concrete floors and constant fluorescent lighting. Medical care that denied a man with diabetes insulin for a week and may have contributed to at least one death.
A Human Rights Watch report says three Miami immigrant detention facilities have subjected people to conditions so inhumane they have become, at times, life-threatening. Many ICE detention facilities are becoming overcrowded and conditions are deteriorating, according to the July 21 report.
The report, which drew from the testimonials of 17 detainees, examined conditions since President Donald Trump took office in January. Investigators say conditions at the Krome North Processing Center, Federal Detention Center and Broward Transitional Center flout international law on holding people in immigrant detention and federal government standards.....

ICE to purchase AI tech that scans eyes to increase deportations
PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Immigration and Customs Enforcement is planning to purchase AI technology allowing them to scan retinas and identify people to deport.
The tech uses an app that allows agents to snap a photo of someone’s eye 10-15 inches away. Then, it will compare that photo to ones already in their system and even on social media.

Oh sure, I suspect they're already doing that at the airport, and certainly at the motor vehicle bureau where they take an eye test anyway. Retinal scanners have generated a lot of angst in the usual places, but as usual nothing happens.

New York lawmakers arrested for blocking Ice access to federal building
New York lawmakers, immigrants’ rights activists and religious leaders were arrested on Thursday at protests both inside and outside the complex in lower Manhattan where federal officials have been routinely detaining immigrants amid the Trump administration’s anti-immigration agenda.
At least 70 demonstrators staged a direct-action protest to block access to and from the underground garage used by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) to transport people arrested by the agency. The nature of the protest prompted the New York police department (NYPD) to begin arresting people sitting in front of the access ramp.

Can't say on this one. The shooter had done what they do now, and written slogans on the casings, but that could be a tactic. Note that no ICE agents were shot, only two detainees in a van. It's all very ambiguous. I wonder whose TV show the FCC will go after now.

NYC didn’t advise jail staff of ‘sanctuary’ rules against tipping off ICE, report says
NEW YORK — Even as Mayor Eric Adams was inviting federal immigration officials onto Rikers Island, his administration failed to give Department of Correction staff basic training about city rules limiting disclosure of information on undocumented people held in the jails, a new watchdog report states.
Administration officials began publicly floating reopening the Immigration and Customs Enforcement office on Rikers as early as December, around the time Adams met with Border Czar Tom Homan. But the city Department of Investigation found DOC did not give any guidance to jails staff on the rules for information disclosure.

'Black hole of information'
...."We need to recognize that these are people," he said. "These are spouses, these are parents, this is somebody's child." The lack of information on the injured detainees was sowing widespread frustration among advocates, who claimed the detainees injuries were being overlooked.
Garcia-Hernandez, 32, is in critical condition, his family told Spanish-language network Univision, saying he grew up in Arlington, Texas, and has lived in the country for over 20 years. He is originally from San Luis Potosí, Mexico.
His relatives told the Spanish language news outlet that he was shot multiple times in his side, back stomach and neck.
"I think it's a tragedy that we don't know anything about the families of the victims," said Rochelle Garza, president of the Texas Civil Rights Project. "It's incredibly harmful that they have not mentioned the families or made clear that they've notified the families.".....
...."That there is this sort of tragedy with this sort of black hole of information is troubling," she said. "It's confusing and it's not at all according to protocol."....
