Palin, Begich, Gross and Peltola are early frontrunners in Alaska’s special U.S. House primary
Early results in Alaska’s 48-candidate special primary election show Republicans Sarah Palin and Nick Begich taking early leads, along with independent Al Gross.
The results, representing 49,000 of the nearly 130,000 ballots cast through Friday, are not a definitive statement on which four candidates will advance to an August special general election; several more counts will take place over the next two weeks.

What Went Down During The June 14 Primary Elections
Well, it took longer than expected to get results in Nevada thanks to a state law that stipulates that no results can be released until everyone in line to vote has voted.
But at long last we got results and we’re calling it a night, as we’ve got a pretty good sense at this point on where most of the major races are going to end up.

New York passes landmark voting rights legislation
ALBANY, N.Y. -- New York's governor signed a law Monday intended to prevent local officials from enacting rules that might suppress people's voting rights because of their race.
The John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act, named after the late civil rights activist who represented Georgia in the U.S. House, makes New York one of the first states to bring back a version of a process known as “preclearance” that was gutted by a landmark Supreme Court decision in 2013.

2022 Alabama Primary Election Results
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Katie Britt has won the Republican nomination for Senate in Alabama, defeating six-term Congressman Mo Brooks in a primary runoff after former President Donald Trump took the unusual step of rescinding his endorsement.
The loss ends a turbulent campaign for Brooks, a conservative firebrand who had fully embraced Trump’s election lies and had run under the banner “MAGA Mo.” But it wasn’t enough for the former president, who initially backed Brooks in the race to replace Britt’s former boss, retiring Sen. Richard Shelby, but then pulled his support as Brooks languished in the polls.

Incumbents Win Their D.C. Primaries, Progressives Clinch Open Races
D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser emerged as the apparent winner of the city’s Democratic primary on Tuesday, holding off three challengers in a bruising campaign and coming one step closer to winning a third consecutive term in office — a feat only ever achieved by the late Marion Barry. (In heavily-Democratic D.C., winning the June primary is all but assurance of victory in November.)
“I stand before you humbled and grateful that you have chosen me to be your Democratic nominee,” Bowser said in her victory speech Tuesday night. “Today I stand in the footsteps of Marion Barry.”

Va. results: Vega wins GOP primary in 7th District; Beyer Dem winner in 8th
Results came in Tuesday night after Virginia voters chose candidates to fill party ballot slots in House districts and a local race.
In most of the districts, the races were either uncontested or decided in party-run events such as conventions or firehouse primaries last month. But a few races were contested in the D.C. area, and one remained neck-and-neck for hours.

Lawyers in Election Defamation Lawsuits Draw a Bead on Fox’s Rupert Murdoch
Right-wing television news outlets that amplified team Trump’s conspiracy theories about the 2020 election lost two key rulings in court this week that set the stage for a protracted battle between some of the biggest names in the American press and the technology companies behind voting systems in dozens of states.
A judge in Delaware ruled Tuesday that there is sufficient evidence that Fox’s chairman, Rupert Murdoch, and his son, Lachlan Murdoch, chief executive of Fox News’s parent company, played a direct role in post-election coverage on the news channel that Dominion Voting Systems alleges was defamatory and cost it tens of millions of dollars in business.

Supreme Court says GOP lawmakers can intervene to defend North Carolina voter ID law
(CNN) The Supreme Court said on Thursday that two Republican leaders of North Carolina's legislature could step in to defend the state's voter ID law even though the state's attorney general, a Democrat, is already doing so.
The opinion will make it easier for other state government officials to intervene in some instances in lawsuits when the state government is divided.

UK Conservatives lose 2 elections in blow to Boris Johnson
LONDON (AP) — British Prime Minister Boris Johnson suffered a double blow as voters rejected his Conservative Party in two special parliamentary elections dominated by questions about his leadership and ethics.
He was further wounded when the party’s chairman quit after the results came out early Friday, saying Conservatives “cannot carry on with business as usual,” and a former party leader said the country needed “new leadership.”

DNC launches digital ad campaign hitting Republicans on abortion
The Democratic National Committee launched a five-figure digital ad buy on Wednesday hitting Republicans over the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
The ad buy will target 18 to 55-year-old women on Facebook and YouTube in a number of battleground states. The ad cites comments from former Vice President Mike Pence, Senate Minority Mitch McConnell (R-K.Y.), and House Minority Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) suggesting they would be in favor of a nationwide abortion ban.

The electorate will look at all of this over the next 4 months. Inflation in food, fuel, etc., the border, national security, supply chain issues, Covid, abortion, etc. They will let us know who they believe best represents their best interest. That’s the only poll that really counts.
It’s going to be an interesting 4 months. The sad thing is that once it’s over we will just move right onto the 2024 election without letup.

Yeah, I knew you wouldn't have an answer, because you know that's what your party does now if it loses.

I won’t react any differently than I did during the last election. I don’t speak for anyone else. What will you say and how will you and your party react?
